P.S the .327 federal is "close" to the .357 mag to. Thats a .32 cal. bullet.

The .357 mag is a .38 caliber bullet. .357 sig is a .355 bullet. Just thought I would chime in with something.

Autos(good autos) are hard to come by at that price. You can get a OK O/U or a nice pump for that price range. Did you say this is your first gun? I don't remember. Nova's are great guns. They come in Nova or Supernova and there are tons of ways you can get them. What are you using the gun for? I have 2 Novas and a super nova and I use them just for hunting. They are tanks. For clays I use my remmington spr O/U. Ok gun but I seem to shoot it pretty well. Good luck and let us know what you get. Novaking

Full is really tight for steel. Might even blow the choke out of the gun to tight. I would go with Improved cylinder up to improved modified depending on what you are shooting. Briley makes really good chokes. carlsons http://www.choketube.com makes great chokes to. They have chokes for everything, steel, lead. HD. Novaking

Whats wrong with IC choke. I have good luck with IC over decoys. But 40 yards maybe not. 35 and under. no problem

Yeah, The nova I shoot trap with has the recoil reducer in it. It weights in at just over 9 pounds.

O, maybe your right. I will just start using my 454 caual with hard lead. (maybe 300 grains). I didn't say Clint recommends bird shot. He says it will do the job. He was talking about 1 oz 8 shot. I use 1 1/4 4 shot max dram. Clint also talks about over penatration. I think this post was to ask what people use for home defence. I have a wife and two kids. My two kids sleep in different rooms. All the rooms are on the same floor and both of there rooms are on different corners of the house. I will not, I WILL NOT pull the tigger thinking in the the back of my head that a round of buckshot or a slug will past though someone, though a wall, and hit my kid. Not to mention a neighor. I don't even want to kill the person in my house. Anyone that thinks that is ok is sick and should be in jail. Plus, almost anyone can get some kind of body armor now. Which buckshot or birdshot will not penatrate. Maybe you don't have kids. Maybe you do and don't care. You will learn the hard way someday. Hope you don't. Good luck to all. Novaking

I have a remington spartian spr 310 o/u. This is not a premium o/u by any means. It will run you about 399 to 450. Did I like the gun at first. NO. do I like after about a 1000 rounds. YES. I've had the gun for about 2 years now and the first year I did nothing to it. stock gun. The second year I put a set of carlsons extented chokes and Tom Knapps easy hit site. This made a big differance with the patterning and my sight picture. I have had zero problems with the gun. I'm up to average 23 on the skeet field (in 4 months) and I shoot in the 90's out of 100 on sporting clays. novaking

There was a guy in Illinois last year that was shot (not on purpus) at 25 yards with bird shot in the field when hunting. died on the spot. My gun patterns 1 1/4 4 shot with a mod. choke with just about all of the pellets in the 4 inch circle at 10 feet. Which in the max. distance in my house. 1 1/4 of lead coming at you at 1350 feet per second. is their going to put you on the ground for good or knock you down so hard you won't want to get back up. On drugs or not. Check out Clint Smith at Gunsite. He say 1 oz 8 shot 12 gauge will put one down no problem (under 7 yards) with a well place shot. People at gunsite are the best at what they do.
