You live in Finland? I heard that things in Finland were very different. Like, people don't care about "stuff" really. Govt. taxes the **** out of you, but gives you everything for free, and noone much worries about it. Life is more slow-paced, whatnot. True?
-
Yep. You got it. I can have as evil of a shotgun as I want...provided enough of its little nethers are made in the US of A. Even if they are carbon-copies of imported parts. That is why Duggan and I keep stating...it is a rule applied mainly to manufactureres, not citizens. Noone has EVER been prosecuted for violation of 922R by itself. I have heard of it being an ADDED charge for an FFL dealer, IIRC at one point. Probably b/c they were modifying and then selling.

Yes, slugs at 25y, I have used them out to 85y on paper w/good effect with my old M4.
-
Got my m4 zeroed. I have always known there was a reason Benelli had a zero-able FS on these shotguns, this one was a bit off, but I think the trulock choke shifted zero over from where the Benelli one was. Every aftermarket choke I ever had shifts zero to the right, compared to Benelli. It shot about 2" right (25y) until I moved the sight over to where you see it. Now she is DEAD ON. Just needs a FL tube and optics!

----QUERY--- Thankyou! This has been most helpful. I will most likely purchase one by the end of the week. The other optic I was comparing it to was (as you could guess) an Aimpoint T1. I like the solar-power idea of the Z-point though. The problem with the T1 is I require a QD type mount, and the only QD type mounts for the T1 raise it too far above line-of-sight to get a good cheek weld with my M4 S90. Also, just to be totally sure about the rail, here is a picture of what Benelli M4 rails do to LaRue mounts and similar setups: http://i42.tinypic.com/1zyzs5v.jpg Has the repeat-zero (removal/replacement) been tested on the Z-point enough for you to quote a number "less than "X" MOA", or is it generally just not a problem? Also, in a worst-case scenario (simply because every now and then, stuff DOES happen and a machine is a machine), what is the warrenty turn-around time? (I live in the USA). Also, can the optic run without a battery installed at all, assuming it is started/kept in bright light for the duration of it's use? Again, thankyou immensely! _______________________________________________________ ---RESPONSE--- Hello XXXXXX, Thanks for the the pic. In terms of any formal test - not so sure. I can tell youI have had mine for a few years now on and off my Mossberg 590, M4 and SIG556. Not problems with anything strange going on. I have not bench tested it to check group sizes but when I am working reflex drills it hits most any size steel I am putting the dot on. Warranty time is fast - these go back to Germany for service but if it is anything really bad they should replace it for you. Not a big deal. Very Best Regards, Richard W. Moncrief

Hello *NAME REMOVED*, I received the image of the Benelli Rials form *NAME REMOVED* and have some answers. - Z-Point on this rail is no problem. - Recoil is no problem - I shoot slugs through my Mossberg 590 with a Z-Point - not hundreds - but it has been no problem - repeatability is no problem. - Illumination. On a bright day or in a bright room it runs on solar only. When the light is low or you go from bright light to low light it auto-dims and kicks in the battery. (One of our sales reps used one in Iraq and it ran on the same battery for a year with it kicking on and off with changes in light for over a year.) Please let me know if this helps and feel free to contact me directly if I many be of any further assistance. Very Best Regards, Richard W. Moncrief

Incorrect information underlined. You can safely shoot a foster slug through any choke up to "full" constriction.
-
Anyone else considered mounting this one? It looks like it will work with the Benelli rail after looking at pictures of the base. Solar powered with CR2032 backup power. Has it's own QD mount, about the same size as the T1.

Yes, not in a "risky" sense, but in a "Hi, I am going to post pictures of my pistols in a wierd way and am fishing for compliments without appearing to" way.

So you are telling me that NOTHING in Obama's political messages lead you to belive that there is a connection, or rather some relavence between the man (Obama), his political stance, and firearm owners/their firearms? Nothing? No issue which a firearm owner MIGHT be protesting by including a picture of a pistol next to Obama's likeness? ETA: You also state that the man did NOT threaten Obama (or the likeness). So what is the point of your original statement?
-
If my child stood solidly on an anti-gun platform and they (a person I did not know) placed a firearm near his/her likeness which was purchased from a store in a show of disagreement with his/her political stance, I would find it an excercise of the freedom of speech. There is nothing wrong with what the man did. He did not threaten Obama (or the likeness) in any way. -Thought to ponder- Just because someone has a "Buck Ofama" bumper-sticker, does that mean they wish to have intercourse with the man (possibly involving a kidnapping, and certainly bodily or emotional harm?). Should the SS investigate owners of these bumper stickers? What about the "Nobama" bumperstickers, does this mean they wish to erase him from the planet and plan to do so? I agree with you, making Obama targets, shooting the figurine, etc. all would have been possible to construe as a threat, but placing a firearm in front of it (not pointed at it, I might add), is not a threat.

There is a fine line in what can be said about the POTUS: 18 USC Sec. 871 (a) Whoever knowingly and willfully deposits for conveyance in the mail or for a delivery from any post office or by any letter carrier any letter, paper, writing, print, missive, or document containing any threat to take the life of, to kidnap, or to inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States, the President-elect, the Vice President or other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President of the United States, or the Vice President-elect, or knowingly and willfully otherwise makes any such threat against the President, President-elect, Vice President or other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President, or Vice President-elect, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both. (b) The terms “President-elect” and “Vice President-elect” as used in this section shall mean such persons as are the apparent successful candidates for the offices of President and Vice President, respectively, as ascertained from the results of the general elections held to determine the electors of President and Vice President in accordance with title 3, United States Code, sections 1 and 2. The phrase “other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President” as used in this section shall mean the person next in the order of succession to act as President in accordance with title 3, United States Code, sections 19 and 20. *I added the underlines to hi-lite the meat of the document. Now, NOTHING about placing a pistol next to a figurine of the POTUS growing organic hair from its hair is making any kind of threat as detailed above any more than a 21-gun-salute is making a threat against an airline. But...you say...it could be INTERPRETED as a threat. Well did the person placing the pistol in that photo KNOWINGLY or WILLFULLY threaten Obama? I do not think he did, nor would any court in the land. It was a purely political statement. Here is some further reading: http://usgovinfo.about.com/library/weekly/aa040398.htm

It could be interpreted almost as bad as someone doing a low-level fly-by of NYC in a large jet near where the twin towers used to stand.

This has been addressed before. I would wait the 6-8 weeks for Kip to start selling his new rail. It is guaranteed to be as good as it gets. DMW sent you the "correct" rail.
-
Chia pets and clowns go in the same category in my book. They both unnerve me.
-
Lol, ty. I sold my first M4 about 3/4 of a year ago. I now have another that I am decking out with a lot of Kip's stuff and an optic. I have to say, I MISSED IT!

No, spring tension will not weaken a spring, it is the compression/expansion cycle that weakens a spring. Dry firing should not harm the Nova.

+1 Read the letter. The guy doesn't even know what an M4S90 IS or what parts comprise it, yet he has seen fit to publish a letter on the matter. That, in my mind, makes it a moronic move. Perhapse the man himself is NOT a moron and I spoke hastily, but the action was moronic. Unless this man who published said letter is Duggan himself (I am reasonably sure he is not), my comment is in no-way directed at Duggan. I referred to it as "Duggan's Letter" only in that Duggan posted it, not that it was sent to him or that he wrote it. I clearly differentiate between Duggan and the letter when I refer to "the person who wrote it" and not Duggan.
-
Yeah, the problem with Duggan's letter is that it was written by a total moron that doesn't know his head from a hole in the ground. It is a joke, just like 922R. Notice #9 on that list: Gas Pistons Notice that NOWHERE in the "M1014" part list, are they mentioned. Again, the letter is just more proof that noone takes 922R seriously enough to even tally up the parts correctly. Are the pistons a single item, or is each one a part? What about the choke? That is a "muzzle attatchment" isn't it? Again, not listed in the M4 part count. Bolt Carrier? Yep, my M4 has one... Okay...what are we at now? 15 if the pistons are each an item, 14 if they are both consolidated into a single item. This is aimed at manufacturers such as Benelli USA who might wish to ASSEMBLE the shotgun and SELL a previously UNREGISTERED weapon with said part-count. Of course, that is how I interpret it, it seems the ATF and everyone else vary in opinion, depending on the day of the week and time of day. Also take note that the letter calls the M4 a "non-sporting" shotgun. "sporting" is not a term defined by the ATF. It is nowhere in the law.
-
I agree, if Kip makes a follower that is: as light as OEM as "small" as OEM I will buy it, and I cannot see Kip producing a part inferior to OEM.
-
Again, not Kip, but he has expressed interest in creating 922R compliance parts for those who concern themselves with it. I think the follower is one such item he has in mind. Ergo, it is not a deficiency of the follower itself, but its origin.

Uncomplicated through/through wound to the upper lateral aspect of left thigh, followed by superficial destruction of computer-case, immediately followed by a massive dent in his bed-frame, a fragmented projectile, and several impacts (minor) on the sheet-rock of his wall. He drove himself to the hospital. He was not enough with himself to lie about what happened. The G32 was confiscated (TECHNICALLY on Univ. property...) He got it back 2 days later He was kicked out of the complex by red-tape, but noone enforced it for a week or 2 as I recall, was a few years ago. He was "That guy" and the case was actually discussed in a law-class at LSU proper, lol. Indeed he was THAT GUY. Short-term results, physically: Bruising at entrance/exit site (roughly in a 1-2" radius). Bleeding (minor, compared to what you would expect). Lack of hearing loss was noted. Roommate in the other room sleeping says he was not disturbed. I was not present at the time. Long-term physical results were: Neuropathy at the site, which gradually decreased to none, as I recall. A scar. Damaged self-esteem/self-doubt (Former Marine shoots himself in the leg while cleaning his weapon, it tends to demoralize him). Ammunition used was WWB 125gr FMJ-FP listed @1325fps from a 4" test barrel. Weapon, as stated, was a G32. Distance to impact was roughly 1 foot. SLug was turned to fragments embedded in wall (fragged upon impact with bed-frame). As a side note, officers (I was told) swarmed and cleared out appartment (after my roommate told them where the AD occured, as all GSW's "Demand" an explanation at a hospital by a LEO). My room was entered. Nothing (not even the 2 boxes of Hornady XTP on my dresser) was disturbed. All present were asked if alcohol was involved. It was not (honestly).
