http://www.benelli.it/sites/default/files/contenuti/press/pdf_file/060-069%20benelli%20%2810%29.pdf Here, here is some of it. This should be of interest, it is the first mention I have found of these numbers. Long guns 065 u No hard field tests This rifle is currently used on the field with great satisfaction users and the stamp combat proven worth more than any test, even one more extreme. But, before being taken - Committee as the M1014 Joint Service Combat Shotgun, M4 had to pass test that would put a strain on a anvil, being overheated and - ice (temperature range between -29 ° C (+ / - 3 degrees C) and +49 ° C (+ / - 3 degrees C), surrounded by in the water and in the sand, exposed to fine powder and salt spray (Had to shoot without hesitation or encoun - intervener at least two tanks of cartridges after 96 hours of exposure to fog saline), covered with mud or ice, the gun has always worked so im - peccable. It did not fired when was thrown onto concrete from various heights to verify that there can be no accidental discharge; for the record, the M4 does not fire if the hammer cocked and without sure drops to concrete, the 6 faces, from 1.5 meters in height ... only this result - Committee speaks for itself. And - again for the record - it really is significant report that, while Uncle Sam demanded un'MRBS ( Mean Round Between Stoppage ) Minimum of 300 shots and un'MRBF ( Mean Round Between Failure ) minimum of 975 shots, the M4 has long regiArmi 067 strate un'MRBS amounted to 15 thousand hits (two Jams on 30 thousand strokes of the test) and un'MRBF more than 30 thousand shots since that in the torture test 30 thousand shots there have been broken or the need to replace - tion of the parties. The icing on the cake, the useful life is indefinite, as these rifles are capable of firing a variety of hundreds of thousands of hits before raise the white flag. The tests that led to the adoption as M1014 were not the only ones who The M4 suffered because of a body police or armed force shall take into yes account the experiences of others, but, down - rightly, want to check with the pros - own eyes (and their methods) that are going to buy. On longevity, reliability, the length of the M4 just no rain and any test performed for a test drive of the journal would have little meaning. Even though So I want to tell you a fact that I consider emblematic and that I could first-hand. I own one of the first - Missimi M4 sold in Italy and I have not no idea of the number of shots fired by this rifle, nor the types of cartridges that There were shot inside: sicuramen the shots fired are many and, as in type, it is me - Council let it go, seen that in addition to using it for many tests the rifle was used as well to out inventories and funds but - gazzino. In the course of his life that rifle has also spent a couple of years in the course of which it has been used so - it 5-6 times, each time, however, so in massive way and without ever pu - litho. These things are not done in the way absolute because they can be "does - such "for groups outlet gas or otherwise lead to blockage of the rifle whose function - tion - if all goes well - will be restored with work, solvents, lubricants and oil of the elbow. In my defense I can say having done so "in the name of science": I wanted to see when he would stop function. I've sold before and after two years since the last time I had I decided to take it apart clean com - completely, remove all deposits and lubricate the parts. Although I do not have not had any problems of functional - tion, I repeat that stuff generally do not make the most ace - lute if you do not want to end up with a piece of iron inert: that a single Benelli M4 068 M4 has survived unscathed in a similar ordeal deputes only in favor of rifle, but those who wish to repeat a similar unacceptable behavior to know that you do so at your own risk. Reliability and durability are even function ease of intervention on the weapon; for the JSCS was expected that the removal from field require less than 60 seconds while cleaning and lubrication was to remain under 20 minutes, with the M4, the time for the field stripping it has been almost halved (less than 36 seconds) and to be completely has been halved time for cleaning and lubrication (me - no 10 minutes) including cleaning of gas outlet groups (that Uncle Sam requires every 500 shots) so keep clean as befits the gun without following bad examples of which you read about these pages. For a time it was planned JSCS load of less than 25 seconds, the M4 is loaded in an average time of 11.5 Translation: The M4 is durable and reliable as all get out. It jammed twice in 30,000 rounds during testing, and lasted 30,000 rounds before anything broke that prevented function, and I am not sure if it broke, then, my understanding of the article is spotty.

Salient Arms Int. / Taran Tactical Benelli Modifications
Unobtanium replied to Tom-Gun's topic in Benelli
The Benelli M1014 has been proven by the USMC, and trials at Aberdeen proving ground. The SAI tuned version is anyone's guess. -
What EXACT slug was giving issues? Can you link me to the product page? Also, what does "not cycle well" mean? Barely ejecting? Not locking back on empty? Extracting but not feeding? Not extracting?

Very interesting to note the forward ejection pattern on that M4. This typically means bolt speeds are increased, given all other things being equal. I'm not sure I'm a fan of changing the operating system enough to cause that kind of change. Watch how these shells eject. Even the slugs in the end of the video go directly to the right, vs. forward aggressively like Costa's. Buyer beware, for better or worse, the operating parameters of that SAI M4 appear radically changed. It's likely a great gaming gun, but when I see things like this, I wonder if changing the operating parameters of a weapon system that has the reliability track record of the M4, as well as a MRBEFF of 20,000+ rounds is such a smooth idea... -

Trigger job consists of lightly stoning the components or polishing them and using reduced strength springs, in all likelihood. Something you don't want on something you count on. -

I personally feel that I know how to setup a Benelli M4 that will run just as reliably and is just as well thought out and executed as SAI. Where they beat me is stippling, coating, painting, etc. Where I feel more confident is in making the gun actually RUN reliably 100%. -
They will tell you it's never happened before but they are happy to refund your purchase if you're not pleased.
-
No...Just use a stick of something to initially cycle the weapon (Don't leave it in there...) and don't let the gun run dry. There is no way this should be the end of the hunt. Suck? Annoying? Etc.? Sure. But I wouldn't let it stop me from killing a deer.

My friend has a Mossberg 930SPX and he can blow off ammo just as well as you can with your Benelli. For hundreds less! *similar logic* The DMW tube is functional, yes.
-
If you buy one from that guy ^^^ It's going to be what he says it is.

Actually, this man is the current ruler of the "tube world" However, as far as magazines for the M4/M1014, I would say that Kip and Joe are about equal for machining/tolerances. OEM is a distant 3rd. The main difference between Kip and Joe's product is material. Ti alloy, or 4140. I personally prefer the Ti alloy, because it is nearly corrosion proof, and lighter. Some people prefer the 4140 because it is stronger. I feel that Ti is strong enough, especially Kip's most recent (last 1-2 years or so) runs. So, when it comes to SOCOMGuy vs. Carriercomp magaziness, material is what I would use to decide. Both are well made and well supported. The validity of the magazine being OEM is based solely on the supplier. One way to check is by comparing threads to your take-off, but this can of course be copied.

-They are made for the M1014 barrel lacking flange. -They require you run rail covers or gloves. Gloves are fine, but with covers, its like grabbing a telephone pole. -They can flex and impinge a piston, although not likely.
-
I'm personally not a fan, and I have a love affair with most things Surefire makes, and Garin Lee on speed dial.

Do your own kickstarter. Make a website to order from (done), and chronicle things so we can all see them. At a certain point, create a cut-off. Pre-order for $XX.XX lower than MSRP, flipside is you wait until it's made (a defined period, and the progress blogged will serve as proof of concept.) You get advanced capital. We get an investment that is likely to pan out, and we get it sooner. Basically, this is for all of the people who say "I'll pay not to wait in line"...except you're paying with time and a calculated risk vs. total outlay...which will actually be less.

Addendum: svi emailed me back and told me that the button is 416 Stainless with a black oxide stainless bluing process. Completely overbuilt for this application. Perfect.

You want a steel tube, this guy makes the best one. Period. Price point not a factor. $145 I a steal for the product you're getting.

My solution is, in my mind, more attractive, won't harm the finish of the weapon, has less movable parts (button is monolithic and includes its own "screw"), is less prone to failure (You need to use blue loctite, here.), and will work very well. It's also significantly cheaper.
-
Here you go, this is the "Thin blued large" button from the link above, installed (the pix on their site are terrible): *Picture taken using flash (that button sat in white vinegar for 30 minutes...no clue what they use, but I buffed it with a paper-towel, and all that, including the vinegar, and got nothing off of it. Also used acetone. Whatever it is is decent enough!) There you are, for about $80-90 shipped...

Well, nothing fancy, there. I'd love to rip you off, but I'm too nice for that. Here's the magic formula... http://www.tac2.com/index.php?template=bbr Tell them just to send the threaded shell-stop, don't worry about the button. The shell-stop is 4-40 threaded and otherwise a factory/OEM part. I had a machine-ship (5 axis CNC equipped...not a cheap place) thread an OEM bolt release for me once, and Tac2's job looked better. Then... any 4-40 threaded 1911 magazine release button will work. SVI, Shooter's connection, etc. http://www.sviguns.com/1101.php?indx=10 Near the bottom of hte page is the one I am using in my next build. I got the "blued" one, but it doesn't seem to be bluing. I soaked it in vinegar for 30 minutes and it didn't change color or anything. It's not likely parkerizing unless they parkerized it very lightly or something, but I like it. It matches things. Button top is slick, which I kindof like. You are depressing it, not sliding it. Texture is not needed, and may even hamper things if you just like to slap at it like some people do.

It's really shameful that pleasing the members of this forum takes a back seat to your personal finances and own life and family, but I suppose I'll try to understand. Seriously, though, when you're ready, kickstart program! It will put capital in your pockets and GUARANTEE sold product. With a bank loan, there is interest and the uncertainty of repayment from sales. This way, you are guaranteed the "sales to repay", and the loan has no interest rate. IO Covers did this with their T1 cover, and as long as you are 100% confident that you can delivery at the time you start taking people's money, it's a very solid move, IMO. Your posts and previous products have been well-written/crafted, and people know the quality of your character and machinework. They will go for it I believe.

Benelli M4 (11707) heat shield recommendations please
Unobtanium replied to 3gunner's topic in Benelli
Yep. I forget which one's I wear. Same ones I saw Kyle Lamb with in one of his videos. I was going to take a class from him and watched videos of him to get ideas of what I needed for support gear like gloves, earpro, etc. Tips: I think mine are the "utility". They have the fake looking soft leather palms and fingers. I can actually remove a suppressor that is pretty darn hot if I am FAST! The gloves to not melt (at least, not fast). Get a set that when you starfish your hand out wide, the palm is TIGHT and your fingertips press HARD against the ends of the fingers while still allowing full extension of all digits. The gloves get a tiny bit looser with use, and if you get one that fits PERFECT when new, it will allow slop between the tips of fingers and the glove later. No bueno! They are cheap. You don't near Oakley Assault gloves or whatever. Mine have held up to several carbine courses and lots of shooting on my own time. Judging by the wear on them, though, GET GLOVES! Don't want that to be your hand, I promise! -
I have a Ti magazine tube from FFT. I bought it for comparison to Kip's. It is this one: http://freedomfightertactical.com/products-page/922r-compliant-full-length-magazine-tubes/finished-titanium/ I will sell it to you, AND include one of Kip's springs (I feel that his are better than the FFT spec'ed spring, but I have the FFT spring if you want it instead. Up to you! Let me know) for $200 shipped. No follower will be included. The only thing that's been done to it is calipers...lots of calipers have been all over it. You can't tell, they were gently taken measurements!
