  1. Digging deeper, I found several things I don't like, but that are very acceptable at this price range, and likely will not be an issue. I would like to see more higher round-count guns before counting them against it well and truly, though. In another 1-2 years, I think 3-gun will expose any legit weaknesses of the platform, if they exist: -Carrier welded to the rails of the action bars. -Gas rings are very thin. A'la 1187. Those leaded up when slugs were used a good bit, I hear. Never owned one, always sticking with Benelli's. -Lots of stampings/pressed parts in the trigger group/latch.

I changed out my trigger group once. I'd like to like the FFT stuff, but mine was all sorts of out of spec. It wouldn't even function.
  3. Maybe it's volume related? The blink and x400 production etc. Or maybe it's based on some change of manufacturing location and tariff or something. I mean, the bcg and barrel and receiver are what they are. Same as the piston system. There really isn't much place to cheap out. I do know the 1301 has impressed a lot of people. Dr Gary roberts for one has used m1 and M2 and m4 shotguns and says hands down the 1301 is better. I have to go fondle one.
  4. Unsure on the sights as I have not handled one, only spoken to those who have. As to price, I find that less offensive than Benelli saying the same M4S90 was worth $1599 in 2010, and $1899 today.
  5. As far as I have found, the sights and rail are not polymer. They are LPA sights like on the M4, and an aluminum rail.
  6. Curious for an update as well as wear photos of the receivers.

It places you further from the centerline of the bore and leads to less control.
  8. I have recently began using FIREClean on all my weapons. My opinion is that FIREClean, as a VERY light coat (which will become nothing more than a "sheen" in a few days) would make cleaning the pistons easier. I use it on my suppressor mounts, and my suppressors do not weld to them even after hundreds of rounds. It is amazing on cleaning and preventing carbon build-up, and I think would do some good! Due to the M4's design (shotgun), I do not feel that any sensible amount of oil could create an over-pressure situation with the gas system. Even a STOOPID amount likely could not.

  10. Everything else aside, more and more instructors that have been vetted (Kyle Lamb, etc.) are teaching strong and support-side handgun use as a staple. The last VTAC course I attended, 50 yard hits on an IPSC steel target were expected on-demand using either your strong or support side 1-handed with a pistol. With the M4, at any distance (we stretched out to 160m, IIRC). What if your right/left hand are injured? I personally know an officer who belongs to a department that had this happen to a veteran officer. He was shot in his right hand while engaging a suspect with his own weapon. He took cover behind his cruiser and the suspect came around his cover and (with no resistance/gunfire returned by the officer) shot the officer at point-blank range. Had the officer simply shot using his support-hand only, and been proficient, this would have quite likely never occurred. If you are training using only a perfect stance, then you are training for an optimal situation that you are hoping occurs during a non-optimal event. SouthNarc's AMIS course underscored how "stance" is the first thing to need compromise/modification during a real-world event. You CANNOT clear a structure optimally using your perfect stance. You must lean, 1-hand, etc. So if your only training is a perfect 2-handed stance...
  11. So are glock frames. Still...that's how they arrived at their Interestingly, I believe that Beretta is who you call to discuss military/LE Benelli products, IIRC from a year or three ago.
  12. This little guy has popped up on the radar, and seems pretty interesting. Especially if you don't need 9 round capacity (mag tubes are available for it, though, but barrel length limits you to 8-9 rounds probably, still.) Anyway, some things caught my eye: -Hammer-forged, chrome lined barrel with fixed choke (CYL). To me, this is a good thing. I can get fixed choke M1014 current .mil issue barrels for an M4, but they are not cheap. I do not run chokes in defensive shotguns. Period. -Just a hair over six and a half pounds. This is almost a pound lighter than the M4S90, even with a Ti mag-tube, and over a pound lighter as they both come from the factory. -Oversize bolt-release and handle It comes stock, that's nice. Both seem pretty well thought out. -Gas Operated The whole reason the M1014 exists is because the Benelli ID system wouldn't hack it with extra gear hanging off of it, as well as it being somewhat more sensitive to how you held it---easier to limp-wrist, so the gas/piston system of the M1014 came about. The gas/piston system on the 1301 is very different from the M1014, but Beretta is claiming it goes 10K rounds between cleanings, and it will cycle low-recoil ammo. My M1014s have been VERY forgiving, but they will not do 8-pelled AND reduced-recoil ammo...pick 1, 8 pellets, or low brass. Not both. This...might do both? Also...10K rounds between cleanings. That sounds on-par with the M1014, and we have the same operating system ("BLINK") being used in Beretta's other guns, which are not known for taking a dump like the FN SLP system, nor do they require swapping pistons to shoot various loads, etc. either. -Alloy receiver and polymer trigger-guard. It has an alloy receiver with the same type LPA sights as the M4. The trigger guard, however, is polymer vs, aluminum. To me, this is a moot difference. The Remington 870 trigger-guard debate solved this one years ago, in case you haven't followed it. If you're worried about part of the weapon being polymer, consider that both have polymer stocks and handguards and that Magpul has been making polymer trigger-guards for M4's for a long time, now, and I've never EVER heard of one breaking even during abnormal use. -Furniture/ergos 13" LOP...'nuff said! I especially like the safety location. THAT is something they just NAILED! Anyway, functionally, the real difference comes down to their operating systems, and capacity. A LOT of people with "names" are buying these. Industry reps from Magpul Dynamics, MD Roberts, Brian Enos' forum is torn UP with threads about the 1301 Competition model, etc. It really seems to be making a splash. I'm curious if anyone here has hands-on/thoughts? For $1,000 on the street, it really seems to offer a lot!
  13. Yep, this is not some neo-retro throwback. This is legit retro. Not "Trench gun" retro, but...
  14. I'm just not at all sure what to think about the guy. Some of his videos are...special. Yet it seems he isn't an asshat. I just don't know. I won't be pursuing any training with/from him, but I'd buy him a beer sometime, for sure, if I had the chance. http://www.gunsandtactics.com/interview-with-instructor-zero
  15. I disagree. Wood CAN be for elegance, right-o, but wood stocks are time-period correct for a bad mother of a shotgun like this. Those shotguns were made ONLY for the German military, under contract, around 25 years go. Before everyone went to polymer-only, it seemed. Just so you are aware, about 300 made it to the US. Current retail $2-3K.
  16. I have never had an issue with my Geissele parts, in my M4's or my M4S90's. The one time I bought an FFT trigger group, it completely disabled my shotgun.
  17. Typical. Wear forms here due to harmonics from the barrel during normal firing sequence. It will stabilize and be a non-issue.
  18. ROFLMAO! Really? I guess there's a sucker born every minute...
  19. I'm selling my Al mar sere. Just not a knife guy. Never used it really. Pocket Knife is all I make use of.

    M4

I've owned multiple M4's and always clean/heavily lube them. Never a failure unless I am firing lightweight skeet loads (as in, 2.75 Dram) from the hip holding it loosely TRYING to make it jam.
  21. This barrel is the current mil-spec. It has the collar, as well as fixed MOD choke, chrome-lined bore, etc. It is a direct replacement for your 11707 barrel assembly and fits 11707 handguards without the "gap" that M1014 barrel would leave due to the handguard cut-outs for the barrel-ring/collar, as it has this collar. Conversely, it will NOT fit M1014 handguards. Unfired. Complete assembly (pistons, sights, etc.) This is a NON-NFA item, 18.5" barrel. Payment is via USPS Money order or Cashier's check. PM me.
  22. Was the proper paperwork filled out, or is it a completely non-firearm receiver?
  23. I've looked at V7's stuff, and to be frank, some of it is appealing but offers no value, and other parts of it are concerning. What I mean, is, there are mil-spec parts for a reason and mil-spec materials for a reason. We KNOW that they work, and work well, and we know their life-spans pretty well, also. Introducing exotic materials into the equation and/or changing critical designs introduces an unknown to the equation. I have been all about "better". I bought a Rubber City Armory BCG for me, and some for my friends. Then we actually used them and the bolt on one of them peened. I wasn't pleased. Dumped the whole group of them and replaced them with milspec BCG's that we can count on. QPQ, shot-peened, C158 bolt SOUNDS like a winner...but it wasn't. Milspec isn't sexy, but in the case of critical parts, I feel that before deviating from it, a lot of research should be done.
