  1. Lighten up Banjo (Francis?). Your post was great, made me laugh. Guess I was just bored and trying to have a little fun.
  2. You get an A+ for creativity, but you made a B- on grammar. There should be a comma after "snowstorm," and there should be a period at the end of the parenthetical section in the first sentence. However, your creativity far outshines these minute shortcomings! Keep up the good work! I really enjoyed your post. Best wishes, Your freshman English teacher (from 43 years ago?)
  3. Duggan. Sorry man, guess I'm just "dense." But I just don't get it? Is this a picture of you or Gov. Swartzenbagel? Help me out here.
  4. Tucker, I don't think it's a punt gun... sorry. And, SDK, I don't think it's an o/u either. Mudhen: Will you be able to modify it to shoot 10 gauge... and make it shoot 18" lower? Cleefurd: When will the new rail for it be available?... we all wanted it YESTERDAY (sound familiar?).
  5. I hear that. Hope you don't get that Sixteen for a long time. Lost my last uncle last month.
  6. Glad you're not pizzed about the will. You don't want no wimp-gun like my Sweet Sixteen anyway, do you? You know, he COULD reciprocate by willing me his beautiful dog, in the case that HE was first to go? He ain't gonna' do that, is he? Texas to Idaho is too far a drive anyway!
  7. I paid $385 for that Sweet Sixteen in ' 67. Since it's Belgium-made, it should be worth lots more. BUT, I am surprised that the gun is only bringing $700-$800 unless it's never been shot and in the box. Mines in good shape but it HAS been used. Guess I'll give it to my grandson... if I ever get one! (Both daughters are "professional" career persons.) If they don't produce, you can drive down here to Texas and pick it up upon my demise. I'll put you in my will. Are you prepared to prove that you ARE sdkidaho? (Tucker's gonna' be pizzed!)
  8. SDK, your dog is a beauty! I can't do an over/under, because I always give the birds a "warning shot," so I need more than two shots!!! (I tell everybody that's the "sporting way"... but we both know that the "warning shot" is just POOR SHOOTING!) Still, I get more birds on the SECOND shot... (I don't always get my cheek on the stock in time on the first shot I think!!!). Need more practice!!! Why don't you and Tucker invent a cheek-activated switch that fits on the stock that prevents the gun from firing unless the cheek is on it? You'll be RICH! I have shot, for the last 42 years, a Belgium Browning Sweet Sixteen. At the time I bought it, it was the lightest upland gun on the market. Now that I'm older, I really appreciate the pound-and-a-half lighter Montefeltro! I can lug it all day and not get (as) tired. And the Montefeltro Silver that I bought in November is a piece of art as well. Love the way it looks, and the way it performs! Have a goodun'
  9. Thanks, Tucker! And... while I got you "on the phone"... can you tell me how to take the front sight off my hunting buddy's Montefelto? I am wondering if we just unscrew the whole thing OR do we take the flourescent tube part out to get to the 3-56 screw? He wants a big-azz HiViz sight that he can see better. He's even OLDER than me... (...and I am "ancient!") Wouldn't want to screw his gun up.
  10. O.K., O.K... Touche' you guys win, I loose. You have beat me up good! It's hard for an old Uplander to keep up with you "Duckers." You guys is BADD! Just having fun guys... no harm done (although you may have intended to inflict it!) I have tough skin and appreciate very much what you dudes are able give for us with your contributions on this site. Peace? Monty
  11. Nor is my Newport Model C (410) which I have owned for Over 50 years!!! Browning makes a pretty good shotgun as well... I like my 1968 Belgium-made Sweet Sixteen very much... (it was my #1 quail gun...until I got my Benelli!)
  12. Ran over one in my pickup just yesterday but didn't have a camera... (and it was too small for gumbo). Curses!... I'll never get in the "club."
  13. Which one is you? ... cause if I've been getting kicked around by a LADY, I AM ashamed! (But... she has GREAT legs!!!) cc: Tucker
  14. "May I please have another, Sir?" (... is this some kind of frat initiation???)
  15. If you had a friend like Tucker... you wouldn't need any enemies!!! He'll shake your hand in one moment and kick your backside in the next. Crusty Dude! Knowledgeable, but callused. Don't cry about this. He really enjoys what he does and helps us all out from time to time. If you want civility, try the Southern Homes and Gardens forum.
  16. Yes, and knowing what I have learned about you, Tucker, you could probably train that live hen to be a real "hooker!" Congrats on an hilarious post!
  17. Project done, and it worked great! Used the C shim (with the horizontal knobs shaved off, ahead of the D shim (with the vertical knobs shaved off) and the two lined up so tight it looks like one... no ridges or anything. Now I have the drop I was looking for and am a 'happy camper.'
  18. It's been my experience that this may not be a forum for the overly-sensitive person or the person with a lack of sense of humor. There is lots of good info here from school-yard bullies and crusty old folks trying to maintain or re-establish their "superiority." Does seem to be a pi**in' match at times, BUT, they can tell you what you are asking about most of the time (if they feel like it) and sometimes, if they don't, they might find more pleasure in the 'flame,' (an in-security thing I suppose... trying to win the pi**ing match!). Hang and learn, or split and be "righteous, and without a clue!" about what you wanted to know). Your choice.
  19. Rodburner -- read the recent "Montey Question" post, page 3, in the Upland game threads.
  20. Rodburner... had this idea a while back and didn't initially get much from my post inquiring about the idea. However, I can thank Novaking, who remembered that Mudhen had done this and I PM'd Mudhen and he coached me about what he did. After reading your post, I went to my shop and combined the C & D shims and will test it soon. Wasn't really all that difficult and now I can put mount the gun IN the pocket instead of having to mount it higher in order to look straight down the barrel. Hope I'm as happy as you will it. I'll report results later but my thanks go to Novaking, Mudhen, and YOU for the "confidence-building." I'm neither a gunsmith nor a machinist, just a "regular" guy with a fairly decent shop out back. Thanks, and have a good one!
  21. Oh, NO! I always thought Tucker would look like George Clooney!
  22. I looked at the UltraLight but went for the Montefeltro because of the five-shot capability. Quail hunters in my state can pack a five-shot mag. The Monty is almost as light (bunches lighter than may old 1966 Belgium Browning Sweet Sixteen) and I really like it. Guess the marketing problem here is weight vs. need. Duck hunters (3-shot limit) don't walk around and carry their guns that much and don't really need a "light" piece. Upland dudes are wanting a light gun BUT with five shots... (if the state allows). I use my Monty for quail, pheasant, chukar, and dove... (have to put the plug in for dove)... got checked out by the game warden on the plug thing on my last hunt this season!).
  23. Rabbit -- you gotta' remember, the UltraLight hasn't been around that long and therefore there aren't that many users, (compared to the other Benelli models). I don't always get what I want on the forum either but there sure is a lot of good stuff here. And... the sarcastic and caustic stuff is NOT "childish flaming," it's ADULT FLAMING (just kidding!) but all in fun. We got lots of bark... but not much bite! You'll get used to it and probably learn to play the "game."
