  1. Oh, and one more thing about weights... My Browning Sweet Sixteen, which I shot most of my life (I'm an older dude) weighs 7 pounds. When I bought it in 1966, it was the lightest quail gun on the market! My 70s version of the Remington 1100 (my dove gun) weighs a full TEN pounds. Believe me, 5.5 pounds IS light enough! I can carry my new Montefeltro all day in the field quail hunting (at age 63) and not get nearly as tired as I did with my Sweet 16 and it perfoms beautifully. Take a look at the Montefeltro.
  2. Patrick: I would encourage you to have a look at the Benelli Montefeltro in 20 gauge... it comes in "lefty." It weighs 5.5 pounds and the Ultralight weighs 5.2 pounds. Is 0.3 pounds really that much different? AND, it will hold FIVE shots whereas the Ultralight only holds three. I sure like my Montefeltro... I got the Silver model and am quite pleased with it. Give it a look.
  3. Yes, and keep on shooting your shotgun as well. It's all good.
  4. Whoa! Replace the spring (to decrease the tension) and you'll be loosing bolt handles!!! Best to deal with it the way it is. Just my 2 cts. You got it out, so you have a "grip" on things.
  5. Amen, Leftie! Well, he's probably busy memorizing the schematic for the new Vinci so he can answer all the forum questions!
  6. Wonder how many shims the "pleasant lady" has installed?
  7. I am a Benelli user so I don't know the Franchi numbering system for shims. But... you will need to use the one that is thinner at the TOP (than the present shim) to raise the point of impact.
  8. Yep, that schoolyard bullie will be after more than lunch money this time! (...although, he might just ignore all this and disappoint us... that's his style.)
  9. Score one for the Novaking! (... but you better "duck & cover!")
  10. The manual is not very good. It is easier to do than the manual might lead you to believe. Common sense will be more help than the manual as long as you read it, for what it's worth, while you are doing the project. You can do it. 13 MM socket, vaseline, phillips screwdriver, and you're in business. Did mine. It's all good! (I am no shotgun expert, just a regular "Joe."
  11. Hey, if you ever outdo Tucker, he gets really peeved (as in "pi**ed). He will then rain on your parade at the first opportunity. Vinci was actually a gay son who was an embarrassment to his family according to my research...(admittedly NOT too in-depth.)
  12. Isn't is against the law to sell shotguns to hookers???
  13. Beautiful sense of humor, Sarge! Thanks for that one! It certainly does look a little "expectant" (of BIG sales I suppose). I'll shoot what I got for now. I can guess you're doing the same? You already said you thought the name was a little "wussy" or something?
  14. Amen, Novaking. I have the Monty Silver and one of my hunting buddies has the Legacy. EVERYONE thinks mine is a more attractive gun. (Sure tees him off!) We both hunt quail/dove and shoot 20s. And... mine is lighter... a nice feature in the field.
  15. Enlightening. Thanks. Wonder what Tucker and some of the other forum "Gurus" know about this?
  16. Guys, it just seems weird to me that the Benelli/Berreta line has such fine top-line guns but underneath has all of these problematic guns that we hear about much too repeatedly on the forum. The Stoeger, Franchi, etc., lines are occupying way too much space on the forum reporting problem after problem... many of which are apparently "unfixable" and the guns are receiving so many very negative reviews... bolts flying off and cracking stocks, etc. And no apparent effort to fix the problems. This is NOT a good reflection on the fine quality that we see with the top-line guns. Go figure why they would want to continue in this fashion. Your thoughts? Hope the new Vinci doesn't catch the Stoeger/Franchi flu!
  17. Think I'll wait a while and see how all this goes with this new gun. It is eye-catching and seems to incorporate some really fresh design ideas. Hope it holds up and does well. I'll just keep shooting my Montefeltro for now. Studebakers and Edsels looked "cool" when they came out... but where are they now? I think only time will tell on this one. (As you can tell by my analogy, I don't have that much TIME left, however!!!) Whatever turns you on... go for it! ...and, enjoy. Cautious Old-Timer
  18. Yep, the Monte has a mid-bead.
  19. I took a pair of pliers, put a couple of strips of masking tape in them, and pulled it out. Others on this forum will tell you to use a shoe string double-wrapped around it and give it a tug. Good luck.

    VINCI

No. Face it, Mudhen: You need it NOW! ...(or at least before anyone else gets it!)
  21. Neat picture... I prefer the Craftsman hole-saw bit attachments myself. As far as chokes go, I do Briley.
  22. What's overboring? Never heard of it.
  23. The vents on the Brilely extended chokes ARE cut (in a beveled fashion) to send gasses backwards. Not going to help barrel-rise since they encompass the entire circumference, but may actually have an effect, albeit so small, on felt recoil.
