Sorry this isn't a Benelli question but I know from experience that some folks on this forum will know the answer to my question: ... (AND, I AM a Benelli shooter!) Just cleaned up my friend's gun... it was his father's gun, hadn't been cleaned since the last use YEARS ago and was filthy. Looks good now, though. It's a Belgium Browning Light Twelve with an inscription ""12-70" on the barrel (manufactured in 1970?). Can't find a choke description BUT I see two asterisks ahead of the "Special Steel 12 gauge" inscription. Do you suppose that the two "stars" mean modified choke??? I am hoping it is as he is going dove hunting with us in September and hasn't hunting in years. He needs a modified. (Bet Tucker will know... hope he sees this but would certainly welcome any comments from anyone who knows!)

How do you fix those "skeet?" Fried or Bar-B-Qued? Never ate one.
-
Yea, and the quota-reacher never did improve. But we haven't heard much from him lately. Must have discovered girls. Good for him AND us. We all tried real hard to help him but some folks appear to be "un-fixable." duzthisremindyouofhimorwhatandifyoudon'tshootaVinciyouarenuts Novaking should be allowed a spelling goof or two, given his longevity and contributions. We're all gonna' do that from time to time.
-
Tucker... do you ever get tired of doing that? Glad you do, but it's got to get old for you. You're a good guy... even though you seem to try not to be! If you get much kinder, you are going to screw up your bad-azz image you have worked to hard to achieve!
-
I shoot the Brilley extended Light Modified for Quail/Pheasant and Dove. It is probably the only choke I'll put in my Montefeltro anymore. Sorry, don't trap or skeet... much.
-
Oh, almost forgot... I shoot with BOTH the C & D shims on the gun. Those Italians must have short necks!!! Mine was hitting high also and it took both shims to get the impact point down to right-on. (You have to grind off the little knobs (some call "titties") so this will work. No glue necessary. Just put them both in there and re-assemble. They tighten up and don't move.
-
You can just reverse the cast shim supplied on the gun. (Turn it 180 degrees and re-assemble). This was supposedly an attempt to compensate for right or left-handed shooters as I understand it. That's the only adjustment I know of. My Montefeltro only came with the one cast shim on the gun but the manual explains that it can be reversed for left-hand shooting. In my estimation, that should have the effect of moving the impact point to the right. I know of no other "fine-tuning" with the (single) cast shim that is normally supplied with a new gun. I am no shotgun "guru" so if a more knowledgeable person can help us out here... that would be good.

That... or your trigger-pull is jerking it off to the left... a usual pistol problem but also possible on a shotgun. Try one more time concentrating on squeezing, not jerking or pulling, the trigger straight back and being real surprised when the gun goes off. See what happens. If it is still there... send it in! Oh, and make sure your cheek weld is absolutely firm on the stock... another cause of left shots.

Yea, I would think that quail taste a LOT better. Less Cholesterol too. (The Robertsons are a little "tubby."

Alright, Doogie... everybody knows you guys haven't ever seen a duck in downtown NY city. Go back to zombie hunting. Guess you're disappointed when you wake up in the morning and nobody tried to break in? Right? You paid good money for that gun and haven't used it for its purpose yet. Right? Can't eat what you shoot, right? You need to fly down here to Texas and let me take you bird hunting. You can eat them. And they don't try to kill you. Just jivin' with you Bro. Always enjoy your posts and this one was good too... just couldn't resist the "jab." So you can blank my hiney next chance you get and get even. Can't wait... you're a very creative dude. Should be good. I'll put on my armor.

I just love this forum. More fun than anything on TV. We got all kinds, don't we? There's room for all of us. Just gotta' know who to take seriously, and who to "enjoy." Gonna' go clean my 20 and daydream about the fall dove and quail season... and laugh my azz off about all these forum shenanigans. Our big problem this time of year is that we have NO open seasons on anything so nobody can hunt and folks are getting restless and "testy." Maybe we should mellow out all and look forward to the next shoot. As Letterman would say, " You guys is crazy!"... (and I love it!). Getting a little antsy myself. Killing paper (range-firing) just doesn't cut it, does it?

What is the Benelli receiver made of? Steel or Aluminum?

Doogie... what the heck is this? You sending flowers? Was there a death in your family. Or is this just algae in your toilet. I just don't get it. -
Doogie, you sarcastic dude!... what a piece of work. Loved it. Keep it coming... Tucker will be jealous of your literary wit. But I gues someone should consider helping this dude since we are a "user-friendly" forum. Hope that happens. Right now I'm laughing my back end off! Don't know what to tell him anyhow... sounds like a weird situation. I thought questions like this were limited to Stoeger and Franchi products... hate to see it on the Benelli line.

Good grief, Kevin... Novas are cheap enough brand-new here in Texas... around $325 at Academy. You want one for less than that? Wouldn't you rather have a new gun than one you know nothing about? We couldn't be talking about more than $100 difference, I would think. Save your money and get a new one would be my advice. Best of luck on your "adventure." Hope you end up with something you're happy with. Let us know how it turns out. P.S. Search: Gunbroker.com for the latest used offerings. FFL transfers are not a big deal... just costs a little more (average price = $35). BUT, most are used guns (="pig-in-a-poke"... meaning you never know for sure what you are getting in a used gun till you get it).

No Mossy Oak available on the Benelli web-site at this time. The SuperNova is currently shown available in: 1) Realtree APG HD, 2) Advantage MAX HD, and Black Synthetic.

Terrific, my man! Capitals & and period at the end of the sentence... and this summer you plan to be a shooter and lady fancier. You fit in here real well now. You are communicating like an adult! Bless you, dude. Are there any 'big-deal' shooting matches coming up for your club this summer? Bet you'll knock 'em dead with your new Vinci! Hope it doesn't shoot high for you like my Montefeltro did when I first got it... I had to change the shims to get the POI down to the POA. But it works great now. I'd be interested to just know if you get extra shims with that new Vinci... could you let us know when you get it? Hope you become the next Tom Knapp... keep shooting... and be careful every chance you get!

Father's day is coming up... get him something nice!

I shoot the Montefeltro Silver in 20. In Texas, we are allowed five shots for quail season, and when the covey does not flush all at once, you often need that. The Vinci only holds three. And, the Monty is much lighter that the SBE. Look at the specs on the Benelli web-site. I can carry the Monty all day and not get tired, it only weighs a little over five pounds... can't say that for my 7 lb. Sweet Sixteen or my 10 lb. 1100. I have downed pheasant with the Monty while quail hunting with my quail loads (7 1/2 shot), 1 oz. You don't need a cannon to down pheasant. And, you don't really need the Silver... that would save you @$400+ bucks! This was the LAST shotgun I'll buy (I am older) so I wanted to "go out" with something "pretty." It's a piece of art ! I really like it.

Well put, Mr. Sluggo, and I totally agree! (Although, I am NOT an experienced clay shooter... I do upland... But I patterned carefully when selecting my Briley's.) Briley IM extended is what I shoot (and leave the 4 stock chokes and my Briley Extended Improved Skeet in the equipment bag).
-
Absolutely! Well done, Unob.

You guys crack me up!!! Better entertainment here than on TV! Tucker, you should be on TV... you'd be funnier that Leno, Letterman, Conan, or Stewart! Think of it , guys: "The Late Show with Tucker Fudd!" And you'd get to wear lots of make-up! (ya' big brute!). But you'd need Duggan as a straight-man... (although your post raises questions about his "straightness"). Keep the funnies coming... BOTH of you!
-
O.K., my misunderstanding. Congratulations on the graduation and also on your graduation present. Way to go! Be sure and thank Dad in a BIG way for that! Be careful with the new Vinci. Have a great summer.
-
Congratulations on your graduation AND on your graduation present! Now that you are a big stud High School-Harry, why not try giving us a capital letter at the beginning of each sentence and a period at the end? You can do better on this and you know it, now don't you? It sure would make your posts easier to read. Take it into consideration anyway. To me, and probably others, it would be a sign of increased maturity. Go for it! Have a great summer! What you gonna' do?... shoot, get a job, chase the ladies? Hope you have a good time at whatever. Does the High School you are going to next year have a shooting team?... or is there an outside-of-school club?

Just ask Swartzenbagel... he has ALL the answers for you CA guys! (Yes, my tongue IS in my cheek... just having fun... no offense intended... please try to laugh.) I would fear that the very best chokes are probably illegal in CA. (More BS) Move to Texas... we'll sell you a machine gun and a grenade or two! +++++ Realism: My after-market Briley chokes work better than the supplied Benelli chokes and are not all that expensive. Go to Briley.com and see what you think. They are a great company and give great service.
