Good one, Mudhen. Sent you a PM. Hope you'll respond.
-
Hang in there, Leftie. I have seen you do some really good posts and we'd hate to lose you. Don't get "gun-shy" when the "old" guys get a bit sarcastic. Just their way of having a little fun. Lots of good stuff to be learned on this forum.

How many shots at this target before the picture? I count 53 pellet-holes OUTSIDE the circle; and, of course, TONS of them INSIDE! Just wondering. If a single load can do this, remind me not to ever get "side-ways" with you! What is it that Theo does for you to make you so high on your guns? He must be a really good gunsmith?

Benelli Cust Service - SBE II Jams - Response

What a great, informative post! Bravo, Duckfan! Hope to hear more from you in the future. I would be interested to see what info you might pass along to Arkansas Man (above post)... could it be an oil/grease problem aggravated by cold temperature? (We don't get that cold down here so I have NO experience with such.) Wonder if this is the old "packing grease" problem associated with new guns that I have read about on this forum? -
Love the "cross threading" reference! Hope it doesn't inspire another six-page dead-end thread.
-
Thanks, Novaking! I'll try to contact Mudhen.

PrairiDog: not buying this. Shim adjustment is the answer. Tell you what I am going to do... i will put in BOTH C and D shims and see if that straightens out my Montefeltro. I will have to shave (grind) off the "titties" (lots of folks seem to love that word?) so I can slam it right ahead of the D shim. We'll see how it works. I will report later "Damn the torpedos... Full speed ahead!"

Hang on a minute Novaking... the Briley chokes WILL fit. All you got to do is tell them the exact model, year, and serial number of your shotgn, and they will fix you up exactly! You need not be concerned with crio, non-crio, or any of that. They WILL fit and pattern great! Down here in Texas, we all love the Briley guys (based in Houston) and really appreciate their services.
-
You just tell Briley what your gun IS and they fit it... they will need your model and serial number. They will match it perfectly. It IS an up-scaled company. A bit expensive, but worth the price with regards to quality and dependability.

Oh, no! Could we all exercise a moment of silence for lefty's drink.. This is a terrible thing. Our sympathy is extended to you. Did you lick the carpet? Be more careful in the future and why don't you try holding the glass in your RIGHT hand??? You might be "Righty" and just unaware of it????
-
Gotta' love it, Novaking! That guy would just NOT give up, would he? He made me want to say, "Cross-thread this, you _ _ _ _ !)
-
how about extended AND ported? Go here: http://www.briley.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=36 Great chokes. you gonna' like!

..."This lets you see what you are shooting better..." nice reply and we thank you Novaking, but after 40+ years of shooting, I HAVE to see that target ON my barrel, not above it... I'm just too old to adjust. What did you think of my extra shim-add idea to try and drop the stock? (look back up in the thread to "Monty Question). Nobody is helping here. What is your opinion? It has been my experience this forum that any kind of forward thinking becomes ignored on the forum. Even the "crusty" kick-a** dudes don't respond. Tell me I'm an idiot or to try it... whatever. Old dudes and new ideas don't often mix, I guess?
-
Glad to see that I'm not the only one who drinks in the evening. here's to ya'! Bless you Leftie... enjoy!!!
-
Cleefurd, could you do me a favor and look at my post on "Monty Question" and see what you think. We need your input. Thanks for all the good info you give us.
-
Shortening the barrel would not be the way to go. A GOOD choke will cost more than $20. Check out this site: http://www.briley.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=36 I bought a set of these and just love them. Extended-ported and they pattern great and look great. I would STILL recommend the IC for quail... Or the light modified (better for more lengthy shots). Improved Skeet is between Skeet and Improved Cylinder and would be better for closer ranges. Best of luck.

Thank you so very much... I have that greatest respect for Tucker and what you wrote means a lot to me. Thanks, Novaking! P.S. Don't need "meds" just yet!... but headed that way, I am sure! Do need to have the OTHER cataract fixed cause I think it's affecting my shooting. P.S.S. Knowing Tucker... he ain't gonna' want nobody using his name! He'll probably ***** about this... and we'll all understand. Reminds me of my late father-in-law who introduced me to all his friends as "my wife's son-in-law!" Gotta' love 'em, don't cha'?

Love mine. I went for the Montefeltro Silver in 20 gauge for quali/dove hunting. Paid 3-4 hundred more for for the Silver model (over the regular Monty price), but it is a piece of "art" and shoots great too. Takes some getting used to, but after that, it's primo! Just "killed" me when I got the first scratch on it... stuff happens. Only drawback that I see is when unloading the gun. I am used to my 1965 Browning Sweet-Sixteen, Belgium-made, which was a breeze to unload. Wish Benelli could come up with a swifter way to extract unspent shells from the magazine. Wouldn't be too much trouble to fix that I wouldn't think???
-
Thanks, leftie! Appreciate that very much as a member of the "unpopular" war.

Great. Although not a disable vet, I'm a veteran too. 1969-71 U.S. Army as a matter of fact. Peace, Dude!!! (remember that stuff?) Peace... when all we wanted at that age was "piece"... know what I mean? Bless you and thank you for your contribution to our country! Rod

How long did it take you to get your shot gun?!?!
MontefeltroPro replied to ffemtopy's topic in Benelli
Like AbleAmmo.com. Got my shotgun (shipped from Italy) in a week... but that was November. Who knows what is going on now? -
Who gives a rat's a** about a thread rating? Threads are good for some, not for others. To each his own. This is America. (at least for a while longer?)

63. Hunted all my life. Live in Texas. Been married 43 years... looks like the marriage just may work out! Hunt quail and dove. I am a retired university music professor. Loving retirement. Quail hunting next week! Sure like my new Montefeltro Silver 20, (my retirement gift to myself!). Please look at my post on the fellow with the "Monty question" and see what you think about combining shims to lower the stock drop. I respect you opinion and would be interested to see what you think about my idea. Thanks, Rod

More specifically, try this one, it's the one I am using (in several diverent sizes); http://www.briley.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=36 Patterns great and looks boss. They also make a wrench that helps you torque those puppies in tighter than most so they don't loosen up while you shoot. Also have some nice extended choke cases that fit in your shotgun case pocket. Give it a look and see what you think.

No, no, Leftie. I think Splash is just making light of things we all know: 1) Good shotguns cost a lot of money, 2) you must maintain them, 3) the bolt must be forward to fire. Every Benelli owner knows this stuff. I think he was just being "cutesy." (But then again, I AM the eternal optimist!) We do allow humor on this forum now don't we?
