I have money burning a hole in my pocket for some made in USA pistons and smooth handguards . . .

Freedom Fighter Tactical. Good color match. Don't need to remove it to remove the barrel. Better than DMW, Tacstar and Surecycle, all of which I've had. http://www.freedomfightertactical.com/order.php

I have shot a variety of slugs and buckshot through my M4 with no issues. I'm using the factory modified choke. Mine loves the cheap, dirty, Wolf and S and B slugs:D
-
Hi guys, Is the lop on the collapsible M4 stock (fully extended) the same as on the fixed pistol grip version? TIA
-
I like Hoppe's Elite gun oil and cleaner. I've been using Butch's Bore Shine recently as a solvent to work out that nasty lead residue that slugs and buckshot leave behind. Let is sit for a while to soak in and it cuts down on the brush time. I also put solvent on qtips to clean the cylinders. Yes, they do get dirty in there. It seems everyone has their own regimen. Just buy a variety and find out what works best for you. And I agree with others, Rem Oil is junk. My gunshop had a few bottles of some Beretta Oil that looked to be a few years old. Could this be the same "Olio" that Benelli recommends??

With the prices collapsible stocks are going for, you'd think they'd clone that one instead of making a shorter, fixed stock for LEOs . . .

Hi all, I decided to remove the stock (pistol grip) off of my M4 yesterday for the first time. I ususally don't for cleaning but I wanted to see the notches everyone is talking about. My tube has notches 3 BUT they are slightly off center, they aren't directly in line with the rear of the receiver. Is this normal? Thanks

Thanks for the pics. I will be getting one once I can find one locally . . . and maybe put a flash hider on it . . .

Cody6.0- can you post some pics of yours? Especially the gas piston setup and controls . . .

Yes, I've noticed that. This particular M4 has also had bits of aluminum flake off the inside of the receiver. As I said before, I have another desert camo M4 which seems to be better machined (internally) and has had more rounds down it with the same type of ammo and it is pristine. Now the camo finish, that is another story:rolleyes:

Yeah, the pics suck but if you look on the perimeter of the bolt face, you can see some chips. My other M4 is perfect in this area.

Hello all, I've noticed some wear or chips on my M4's bolt face. The gun has about 220 rounds through it. It appears that at about the 10 o 'clock and 2 o'clock positions there are some portions where metal has been chipped or worn off. Should I be concerned? Could this weaken the bolt and cause cracks? Here are some pics:

Knock yourself out.

Be sure and add something to the effect that all of the above still won't get you better than a 50% success rate.
-
Good luck. Hopefully it work WHEN YOU GET IT.
-
Apparently asking for more than a 50% quality rate is too much around here. Your Leupold comment is off base. There is a difference between purchasing a product that doesn't work and one that gets damaged from use.

Shotgunnoob- I see where you are coming from. However, saying what condition a part arrives in is not improper and is not an insult. The attitude that it is seems to be prevalent in the firearms industry. Just because it is common doesn't make it right either. My money will go elsewhere. Case in point- Kimber, as you mentioned. Did you get caught up in the whole internal/external extractor switch/recall? The same thing happened: nuthuggers came out to stone those with complaints: "You don't know how many 1911s they make. You don't know anything about tuning a 1911. You don't know anything about how XYZ is made. It needs a break in. Call Dennis, he will make it right". Ad naseum. Customer service is a safety net for poor products. Period. Hey, the transmission in my Chevy went out today. Should I take it to the dealer for warranty work before I tell folks online?
-
Yeah, around here the truth seems to be unwelcome.
-
I have NO DUTY to ask a seller/manufacturer for his permission or a refund before I tell the world what they are putting out. Give it a rest.

Look fellas- This thread is going nowhere. The thing doesn't work, ok? IMHO, it should have. I'm glad Dave chimed in but I've moved on. I was just hoping to pass on some info to other M4 people . . .
-
Trust me it isn't cross threaded. I was able to install one fine. What makes you think I couldn't do it twice apart from defects?
-
Nice. Please, show me where I made personal insults. So far only you have done so.
