  1. Interesting about the fixed choke. So all M4s except the M1014 lack a heavy wall barrel like the Marine issue gun?
  2. No tinkering with lighting. I hope to send some rounds down range to see how the finish on the hammer wears tomorrow. Hopefully.
  3. The tube threads. Back to the coating- this gun had a frozen piston that required yanking with my fingers to free up. I have mentioned before my other M4 H2O had a stuck shell drop lever . . . Hope this helps those concerned . . .
  4. It is not incorrect. It is based upon assembling a shotgun, not POSSESSION. Again, you're theory is based upon a banned shotgun. The M4 is not banned as imported yes, we agree. The H2O is assembled by Benelli. I don't care what they have or have not done to it, 922R DOES NOT APPLY TO POSSESSION. What don't you get? Under 922r you are fine. Here are the requested pics. It seems the mag tube probably has been replaced. However, it would look like that whether a factory or aftermarket tube was removed and or removed and replaced/coated.
  5. My interpretation is just fine, thank you. The M4 is not a banned shotgun. Show me the law that says possession of such a weapon is a crime. Again, let Benelli do what they want. I am only concerned about the law as the BUYER. A buyer of an H2O is NOT an assembler. You can't be charged with a crime that isn't on the books.
  6. Yup. I have posted pics here once before. If I get time this weekend I will do it again and look in more closely but the trigger assembly looks like a standard unit with grey coating.
  7. There is no loophole, I am referring to what the law actually says. You actually posted it. It is the Paragraph before (1). The assembly prohibition merely doesn't apply to sales to gov'tl agencies. Again, the key word is ASSEMBLY, not possession. Even if Benelli broke the law, I don't care. I didn't ASSEMBLE it, I am a mere possessor. I have taken them down and there are no "made in usa" stampings.
  8. I think from the buyer's standpoint, the H2O and 922r is a non issue. The law states that it is unlawful to ASSEMBLE a shotgun with so many imported parts. Benelli is the one doing the assembling, not the buyer. The regulation does not cover Possession, only assembling. I think you could also argue in a test case that joe blow buying an 11707 and adding a mag tube in "violation" of the law is not "assembling" a shotgun, merely modifying. I'd make the argument that only licesned manufacturers can "assemble" and import a firearm. I have two H20s and I find the finish to be severly lacking on BOTH. However, from a features/compliance standpoint they are worth the money.
  9. You may be right. I have an unfired H2O that had a sticky shell drop lever at first. Can you post pics of the finish?

    New Here

I bought my first gun at age 14. My dad was supportive. My mother was anti. Decades later she is pro. I would involve your parents and remind them you've been responsible with a gun up to this point. Pay for it with your own money. Ask your dad to go with you to a range and shoot some rentals. Maybe take a safety course/shooting lessons with him. Allow your parents to lock it up (after all it is their place) if that helps in the negotiating process. The Nova is a great gun but I think maybe a .22lr might be a better first gun. Just my .02. Good luck and post pics when you end up getting something!

    reloading,you tube

Great video. There are many on weak hand reloads but I haven't seen one as detailed as that one where he explains every movement.
  12. Cleaner. . .
  13. I have a camo M4 and I just use hoppe's elite to clean off dirt and smudges. I don't oil the finish at all. It is pretty tough in my experience. I have a spot on the barrel where the camo has flaked off and all it does is reveal grey parkerizing below it. You could keep any areas like that oiled. I would use another brand of oil like the one your gun came with or FP-10. I also have a small area on the handguard where the camo flaked off revealing the black plastic but I don't let it bother me.
  14. No tools required. Fieldstrip your 11707. Remove trigger assembly. Hold receiver in one hand while grabbing pistol grip and rotating stock assembly counter clockwise until it threads off of the receiver. Take grip that comes with cs and thread on until it is loosely snug. Install trigger assembly. This might take some trial and error to find how far the grip is screwed on to still allow a good fit between it, the receiver and trigger assembly. Press button on cs and start it up the recoil spring tube, twisting it to the left. Once it is on tube a little ways up, rotate it to the right to adjust it.
  15. I am going to check out a batch a shop near me is getting in and see if there are variations. If so, I might just end up keeping it. I'm not worried about corrosion just the flaws if you look closely. Like I said before, if you pay retail, it is a good deal to get all trimmings and stay 922r safe. If that even concerns you . . .
  16. I haven't seen anyone else post up detailed, close in pics. Even in areas where there is coating, it wears off, i.e. bolt, bolt lugs, recoil tube, etc. I don't think I am biased, after all I am not trying to SELL it. I may contact benelli but I'd hate to think about the turn around time.
  17. Yes, posted in a thread I started a few days ago.
  18. Do you have pics of the bottom of the bolt and inside of the receiver?
  19. Uh, the coating issues aren't b.s. The coating is crap compared to my two other M4s (11707, 11717). The coating made the shell stop lever freeze on mine. The coating has worn off the bottom of the bolt already. The gun hasn't been shot yet The coating on the recoil spring tube is worn off where the collapsible stock rides. If you crunch the numbers, the H20's price isn't too bad when you consider you get the cs stock, full tube and 922r joy . . . If you pay retail which is about $2099.
  20. Yes, enjoy your black M4! I'm looking at a few .308s. A Krebs .308 Socom, XCR-M, Sig 716. But I am very fickle. I might just man it up and put a few hundred rounds through it next weekend.
  21. No. Haven't fired it yet.
  22. Hi guys, Below is a link to an image shack album of some pics of my new M4 H20. To be honest I am not impressed with the finish. It seems very, very thin and weak. You can see an area on the barrel where it meets the mag tube lug where the finish is missing (no, that isn't washout from the flash). There are also several scratches on the barrel that seem to have been coated over (poor metal prep prior to applying the finish?). The internals just appear to be coated with the finish. In fact, the shell drop lever was inoperable until I worked it up and down a bit. Also, there is no oil on the gun, just some sort of dry (graphite?) lube. MY OPINION: Not worth it unless you are a collector or want it for the factory "legal" magazine tube and collapsible stock. http://imageshack.us/g/692/m4h2otrigger2z.jpg/ Not sure about mine. I might end up selling it soon to fund a .308 as I already have a few M4s . . . I just saw this one and thought I could give it a good home. Edit: sorry if it is a wall of text. When I typed into post box it looked nicely formatted.
  23. Here is a link to the show: http://www.history.com/shows/top-guns/videos/top-guns-shotgun-shootout#top-guns-shotgun-shootout Numerous times they refer to Marines using the M4 and then cut to footage of a cut down pump (870 or 590). Then, when referring to the Nova's ease of disassembly they show an M4. Seriously, who produces these shows? Would've been nice to see them showcase the Nova's mag cutoff button for slug changeovers.
