anybody have to cut down their spring for FL tube?
Trapshooter1 replied to tinman1975's topic in Benelli
I suggest you cut but only 1 coil at a time until you get it. How far are you from putting the last shell in? -
We have a fall turkey season bow season is Oct 1st through Feb 28 and gun season is Oct 26 to Nov 1st. I am ready for some season to start up its killing me
-
Yes but I would have to see at least 5 in the head and neck to feel confident in my shot. 1 pellet is just chance and leaves a huge chance of that turkey flying away unharmed. I wounded a turkey that way and it ran off instead of flying. I was using Federal FC 3" mag w/ 2 oz of lead and an X full choke at 60 yards. I now use 3.5" w/ 2¼ oz of lead and a S full choke and 65 yards is the farthest I would shoot at a turkey.

Good, I hope to get some good numbers this year, I don't duck hunt near as much as I used to but hopefully I will get to go more this year.

steel shot and black cloud choke tube.

I am thinking about getting some of the new Briley black cloud chokes. Anybody know the restriction? Here is a link: http://briley.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1229 -
IM choke and 60 yard kill pattens with no more than 2 oz of lead? Do you know the difference b/t IM and M? The difference is .005" almost nothing for a choke. I would be impressed to see that kind of patterning with a full choke. I am not saying you are lying I am just having trouble believing, I am assuming they were FC Federals?

Federal truball is good in my experience and so is the Remington sluggers. Also try some winchesters they are another really big brand.
-
I dont know for sure but they were illegal here in AR but I know a lot of people that killed them anyways.
-
If this stuff makes a softball sized hole at 20 yards then that sounds like it patterns to tight. What kind of choke and ammo where you using? 60 yards is good range for a 3"
-
If you are talking about the promo ammo at walmart that is the cheapest per shell and comes in boxes of 4 then I would say federal or remington. Not winchester. Winchesters only have 1 oz of lead while fed. and rem. have 1 1/8 oz of lead which means they have more energy and will cycle better. These load are good for small birds, clay shooting, and POI patterning. Any shell that has 1 1/8 oz of shot and 3 dram of powder is guarantied to work.

Glad to see that you are teaching someone about guns. I recently taught my sister to shoot and handle a gun, which was my supernova 12ga. The kick doesn't hurt her, but she wasn't putting any forward lean and it knocked her a step back and it took her a while to learn how to stand and shoulder the gun properly. Her first real round of trap she shot 11 out of 25 which isn't bad for someone who hasn't fired a more than a box of shells before she even picked up that gun.

The Nova: GOOD, Much more rust proof than the 870 express, slicker action than the 870 express, higher rib than the 870 express. The 870: GOOD, cheaper, more durable, more after market parts. I would go with the Nova, although I would bet money that the 870 will outlast it, the Nova will last forever. It is fairly easy to find Nova parts, but the 870 is even easier, and the parts are usually cheaper. The Nova is a smoother pumper and is easier to pump, although the 870 is not hard to pump, your arm will be tired after a long day.

I don't think so. They do have shorter recoil pad options to reduce LOP making it more suitable. An M4 is heavier than other Benellis, and gas operated unlike other Benellis, so it is a pretty soft kicker compared to other Benellis. You might consider getting her a 20 ga.

+1 if it has the power to go through a man it will go through 2 slabs of drywall. -
Yes it is a modified according to the Briley browning choke chart: http://www.briley.com/2009/starmarks.html

I am not sure on the exact restriction on the long range, but it might be to tight for trap, but that is better than lacking restriction. It should pattern good with standard steel. Find out the restriction and see if it is a mod, full, etc. -
I was just saying that to make a point. You just had to bring up the squirrels didn't you
-
I really have to try some of this stuff. I wonder why it patterns so good?

Well if thats the way you want to look at it, I shoot over 1000 a month shooting exhibition and trap, and thats just through my Benelli. I also do a little bit of slug shooting and patterning and long range rifle shooting. I bet I shoot more than you. The reason why I mentioned how long Duggan has been on this forum, is because he has experience and has seen posts similar to yours that end up crying wolf. It isn't your fault. I am trying to help, how have I hurt you? What does me mentioning slugs have to do with this? Can you send me a link of what you are talking about? -
No I haven't seen the Nitros pattern, I didn't realize a shotgun shell could perform like that I need to pick up a box. Federal fc patterns better than some remingon turkey loads and winchester I tried out so I figured those couldn't be much better. How much kill range do the Nitros have?

If you want to keep your gun and get a rifled barrel and dont want to pay over $400, then look on gun broker for a used one.

Man Duggan, people are just sharing the love with you all the time Tyson, Duggan does have a point. I have seen this happen with a lot of people. Every other month they say the government it taking away our guns!!!!!!!!! The way the government will take away our guns (if the take away our guns) is they will make tiny gun restrictions one by one. It starts out, a limit in capacity or some thing small, and goes from their. If they can justify full autos being illegal eventually they might make semi autos illegal. There are to many people (at least around here) that would kill them on spot. The government has to make us weak as possible by limiting as much guns as possible. Like I was saying, something like your post is not uncommon on gun forums. Rarely does one of these end up happening. I would only take one of these posts seriously from somebody like Duggan, or Tucker301 etc that have been here a while and know for sure what they are talking about. Thank you for trying to help, and instead of getting mad at Duggan, realize that he has been here a while and knows what he is talking about. He is trying to help you learn. -

check this out: http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot14_4.htm #8 bird shot doesn't even go through to sheets of dry wall, but the wad does. I doubt #6 would penetrate either, if it did it wouldn't have lethal force. 00 went through 2 walls worth of drywall. I wish they tested smaller buckshot loads and bigger bird shot. I wish I had anti ricochet bullet proof walls and doors.
