  1. I have seen a 20 ga 1187 that cycled light shells flawlessly. You have to watch those gas guns though, they can get dirty fast and stop cycling correctly.
  2. Yes I know what you meant, I was just sharing an interesting fact I found out to back up what you said.
  3. No they take the choke in the state of a standard choke and then cut out the ports. That metal would be better on the choke.
  4. I cleaned off the action thoroughly. It has a coat of thick grease that keeps it from rusting for a long period of time. Then I put a light coat of gun oil on. Then I shot about 50 3" shells through it. Then I cleaned and oiled again, tested the light loads. I didn't actually do it that is how you do it my M2 cycled 1 oz perfectly out of the box.
  5. Do not get a ported chokes they are a waste of money and metal. They will not make a difference in recoil, at least not that you can tell. The wads are slightly smaller diameter than the barrel and will expand to scrape the barrel and the wad will scrap the holes and slow the wad down. plain extended chokes are the best patterning. You could always get a briley barrel extension, it screws into your choke threads and extends 4" or 6" and you can screw your existing chokes into the end of it: http://www.briley.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=133 BTW tyson, notice how all the black cloud choke tubes aren't ported? That is because black cloud uses FC wads to.
  6. From what I understand the monty and M2 are pretty much the same gun. My M2 cycles cheap 1 oz just fine and never fails with 1 1/8 oz. After you break it in it is guaranteed to cycle 1 1/8 oz 3 dram. That answers your question about cycling but I can answer your question about how it will work for skeet.
  7. I was just wondering if you are taking this serious or not and making sure he didn't mind.

    GOT IT

We know you wont be in his will If I had the money I would defiantly get a gun to just look at, polish, and never know for sure if it actually works or not. I love the turkeys on the receiver and cant wait to see some high quality pics.
  9. Use a socket wrench with a 4" extension and use a 13 mm deep socket and hold the but stock between your knees and make sure you turn the wrench counter clockwise. 17 mm crescent wrench will remove the threaded part you are talking about, but only after the but stock is removed.
  10. I had the same thing happen to my m2, take the bolt out and sand down slightly the stub that is in that slot at the front of the receiver, it is finished in nickel and part of the silver bolt head. Then put a little oil on it and work it a couple hundred times.
  11. First of, it is nice of you to try to do something nice for him, but I would make sure he wants a camera crew to follow him around and tell him to wait to shoot so they can get a good shot and possibly scare the game. Then I would PM a moderator like nelligirl with this request.
  12. I guess the sbe should be considered as junk to because it has trouble cycling 1 oz light loads. Don't get me wrong though, I am not to happy about what remington is becoming. They are selling plastic guns and putting there name on walmart crap that I know for a fact isn't made by remington and the newer 870 s are rust prone and they put there name on a gun they didn't make. I wish they would cut it out and focus on making quality firearms like in the past. Remington still has quality to there name but like gmc, I don't like the way they are running things. If you would have said charles daly is junk I would have agreed.
  13. I like briley, carlson's works great two.
  14. The SBE is the simplest of the guns mentioned The Xtrema w/ KO is the lightest kicker of the guns mentioned The Browning has obviously had great reviews but I cant speak on it's behalf. Sounds like you need to find out what is best for YOU.
  15. Well I am flattered most use Improved cylinder, but I use light modified for dove. I usually buy the boxes of four of Federal or Remington in 7 1/2, winchester will work but the promo winchester ammo isn't supposed to be reloaded and it doesn't have as much shot. If you want to go higher quality, use winchester AA or Federal gold metal, or remington nitros.
  16. Cleaning kits are ok, but the rods are made out of soft metal so they dont scratch up your bore, meaning they will bend with pressure. A one piece coated cleaning rod, can be made out of stiffer metal, and is even better for your bore. The slotted patch holder doesnt cover your whole bore either. The brushes are ok, but they are the only thing I kept from my cleaning kit. The bore mops do a good job of cleaning, but they can only be used once on a dirty barrel. Here is a custom cleaning kit that will give you better results: - Coated cleaning rod - Bore cleaning jag - Bore cleaning brush - Bore cleanng patches - Breakfree CLP gun oil - Hoppe's bore solvent I hope I didnt forget anything.
  17. Read the bold text in the product description on this link: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0031734215831a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntk=Products&QueryText=mag&sort=all&Go.y=0&_D%3AhasJS=+&N=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form23&Go.x=0&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1
  18. Any good brand, non ported, .665 or less extended turkey choke would work good w/ mag shok, maybe not so much with the HD shot. Try a shot or two with the tightest choke you have, factory full would work if that is the tightest non ported choke you have, and try the winchester at the same yardage with the same choke. Winchesters pattern 3rd best in my gun, remington being second best, and federal being best. Winchester might work better with your gun, but I recommend trying remington also. you also need to try some federal w/ lead shot. Anything mentioned will kill a turkey with a well placed shot.

    cool lookin

Didnt know you had a super sport, or an SBE.
  20. Sounds good, one reason why the benellis kick harder, is because they dont have the heavy gas system to weigh them down, they are light and simple. If you add weight they will kick more like the 11 87. I want to add one of the briley barrel weights to my gun, because it will make it swing better, and reduce recoil, only I wont be able to use my take down case.
  21. Same here with the Cordoba, my next clay and wing shooting shotgun will be a cordoba, or the current version of the Cordoba when I have the money. I am still happy with my M2, it is the most reliable semi auto I have ever shot.
  22. Yes your gun is more rust proof with an addition camo coating, it depends on how the camo will hold up. Different companies may do different jobs.
  23. The only exception being your turkey shotguns, I have my camo 870 supermag set up to shoot right where i point, I couldn't get consistent results with a high POI while holding the gun stationary, but I got better results with a high POI on my wing and clay guns.
  24. Like I was afraid of, the HD shot was lacking shot, and here is a good tip, you were using a ported choke, which is a BIG no no with FC wads. Compare your pic with my pic using the same restriction choke, but not ported notice how much more intact the wad is: The porting stops the wad and deforms the wad, along with the shot, especially with that tight of a choke. If you would please, try the tightest non ported choke you have with the fed. HD at the same range and show us the results. I would recommend federal high velocity lead, It probably penetrates similar to standard velocity HD shot, and there is almost twice the actual pellets. Good info so far, thanks for sharing your results.
