Thanks. The barrel is 7.75". The Vortex adds another 2.3". I have to really look for the top of the Surefire through the Aimpoint. I have to shift my head higher to even see the top of it. Chopping the rail really helped make the X300 Ultra a compact setup. Without the cuts, it would have pushed the weapon light about 2.5" further forward. So I'd be stuck with a longer barrel length to match. Use of the Mossie Tactical drop rail lowers the light about 0.7" too. This keeps the light out of the sight picture. -

Nice Crofton. Mossie Tactical makes some useful light mounts. I like the move away from full picatinny rails. The weapon's end up lighter and thinner. The 12 o'clock weapon light mounting solutions produce the least amount of barrel shadowing while maintaining weapon balance. -

You'll like the SD3G Trigger. It's bomb proof and fast. Barrel was delivered at ADCO on Monday. Hopefully they get it turned around ASAP. I ordered the Aimpoint T1 2moa, on a LaRue Absolute Co-witness mount. It shipped out on Tuesday. I did some comparison shots of the weapon with some known sized objects to show exactly how small this thing is. Glock 19, Gen 4. Shares the same magazines. Benelli M4 -
You joined that site just to poke to bear? Not one comment about the tube, "smokin' like a chimney"? Point loss!

You don't want to lube the stainless pistons because it with smoke a lot when firing. It seems to just attract carbon always. I put a small amount of lube on the o-rings of the ARGO system. Nothing inside the ARGO plugs. For the trigger group, I'd grease the sear contact points of the hammer/trigger/disconnector. Light oil on the hammer plunger.

And XDTalk. My M4 went about 2500 rounds without cleaning. Then I got bored one day a cleaned it up. It was still functioning just fine. Submersions shouldn't hurt the function, but copious amounts of debris in the action might. Plus you better learn how to fully disassemble the trigger group to clean all that crap out if you're going to do it.

Beautiful Tucker. I'd have an acre of garden if that was my place. Land and homes are much bigger back east than out west. I looked at a piece of land here in the middle of BFE, and they wanted 1.2 mil for a 100 acres. :/ -

You'll like the trigger. I'm considering swapping out my Geissele SSA for one in my MRP. It took about 25 minutes to load up a dozen 33 rounders. After three cycles in the dryer, they were finally dry and smoke free. They're all loaded with 147 grain rounds, so the packs are pretty heavy. -

I'm liking the MOE K Grip. It's a lot thinner than the standard MIAD I'm accustom to. It reminds me of an HK grip in texture and the grip angle. I also received my Glock mags today and two pouches that hold six mags each from Olongapo. They're pretty nice, the only bad thing was they smelled like cigarette smoke. So I had to throw them in the washing machine before handling them. 33 rounds x 13 mags should be plenty. Extensions aren't needed. The mags stick out enough as it is. With my 15 round mags, they only poke out about an inch. -

Hookster, The screw in the back is a tensioner to adjust any play out of the upper and lower receiver. With the VLTOR, it didn't seem to be needed. I agree about the pistol stock, I don't like it either. It's a temporary fix to get around the law. The only plus side for the pistol buffer is it doesn't interfere with the sling as much as a stock does. You can also pull the pistol buffer against your shoulder. Since it's just 9mm, it isn't going to hurt anyway. I imagine it will look and shoot much better with a CTR stock on it in due time. I have the Geiselle Super Dynamic 3 Gun Trigger on this rifle's big brother. It is exceptional since I usually don't have a use for the 2 stage function of most Geiselle triggers. The reset is amazing. Check out youtube for videos of people firing with one of these triggers. It's damn near full auto shot breaks. The flat trigger is personal preference. It feels like I have a more consistant trigger pull with the flat face trigger. The barrel came and went. It's headed off to ADCO to have 2.25" chopped off, and the entire barrel contoured down to .625". This should reduce some weight and certainly make it handier. The barrel as is wasn't that heavy to begin with. I know if I didn't have them do it, it would eat at my OCD. As you can see, it's much too long as is. -

The red is a little lighter than I had hoped. Crappy camera phone gives it the 'Timmy the Raping Clown red' look. I bought the lacquer stik's from Brownells. If you hit the coloring with a strong solvent like BreakFree or soak it in Mineral Spirits, it will start to come off. Supposedly it takes a set after a few days and becomes semi-permanent. It's pretty easy to touch up. I hit the stick with a heatgun until it started to melt, and just dabbed it into the fill areas. I then heated the surface area with the heatgun so it melted and filled the lettering in evenly. I then let it dry some. I wiped away the excess with a rag that had some Mineral Spirits on it. -

Got some parts in today for my 9mm AR15 pistol. Pretty much finished up the lower. Friday, the barrel, 11 Glock 33 Round mags, and two pouches that hold six 33 round magazines from Olongapo will arrive. The lower went together as expected. The DDLES lower is beautiful. It is machined to match the VLTOR upper receiver perfectly. Given the design of the weapon, I opted for HK style color markings. So I filled in many of the engravings with red and white lacquer. I went with a Magpul MOE K Grip this time. It is definitely different than the MIAD grip. It has a HK feel to it. It isn't very aggressive in texture. It's extremely thin too. The steep angle allows you to hold the weapon closer to your body without straining your wrist. This really helps when snugging up on the buffer tube. A Battle Arms Development (BAD) Combat Ambidextrous Safety (CAS) Short Throw (ST) was installed. This gives you the 45 degree selector movement. Light years better than the older 90 degree movement. The ST model had to be modified to fit this lower receiver, since the receiver wasn't adapted for the short throw design. A Geissele Super Dynamic Three Gun Trigger was used. Basically it's a crisp single stage trigger with an extremely short reset. A PWS Pistol Buffer assembly was used until I get my tax stamp. I like the QD connectors on the PWS tubes. They also support the buffer far better than most receiver extensions. It avoids using those castle nuts too. A heavy 12 ounce buffer was purchased specifically to run 9mm. The buffer is slightly longer than the regular carbine buffers to limit rearward travel of the bolt carrier. A Magpul MS3 QD sling was added. This sling is hard to beat on such a compact weapon. All remaining small parts are Colt production. I redid my rail covers near the weapon light. I spent some more time on this area and relieved the area behind the panels with a dremel. This removed less material and appears that it wasn't modified to allow for the light mount to bypass the covers. The barrel that is arriving is a 10" chrome lined 9mm barrel. Once I determine the appropriate length to place the Vortex roughly shown in the photos, the barrel will be sent off to ADCO for chopping, re-threading and possibly contouring the barrel down to reduce weight. Mainly I'm just waiting on the bolt carrier to ship from DDLES. When I get paid again, I'll order the Aimpoint T1 2moa dot on a LaRue absolute co-witness mount. -
Perfect build honestly. Do you see your 18.5" M4 getting much attention?

Ouch! $6.50 for 22? Damn those unreloadable rimfires. The stock came out beautiful. Seems almost impossible to re-chamber it for a common 22lr. -

My build is in direct comparison to an HK MP5. I find the AR platform has a lot more flexibility in the aftermarket. Example, the BAD ASS short throw selector is absolutely perfect. It's a precision machines part where as lowers like on the HK, FN Scar or the gang raped ACR leave a lot to be desired. Trigger options are extremely limited too. I do wish I could get the roller lock setup like the HK instead of just a blow back design. The charging handle of the MP5 is a lot more intuitive than the AR charging handle. It's easier to manipulate. I also like the additional paddle magazine release on the MP5. I picked up my DDLES lower today. My PWS pistol extension came in as well. There is enough purchase area to put the buffer against your shoulder. -
I'm jealous! I'm soon to become a stamp collector myself finally. The Benelli is certainly on the short list. Does the 14" feel much handier? I've been considering having my existing barrel cut down to a 12.5".
