  1. Very nice Benelli but I think it cheapens the shotgun to put it in a plastic hard case. A shotgun of this caliber deserves a custom leather and satin hard case.
  2. I carry two standard extended chokes, IC for decoying ducks 15-25 yds and Modified for anything else 15-40 yds and shoot 3" Win Xpert #2's for ducks and BB's in 3" and #2/BB's in 3-1/2" for geese. I shoot an HK SBE but will be switching to my new Vinci this coming season. Been doing it that way for 18 years now. My extended tubes are Carlson's and I use them for clays - upland - ducks/geese.
  3. You can check out Benelli barrels on Gunbroker.com http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Browse.aspx?SearchType=0&Timeframe=0&Keywords=*&Cat=4024&Items=50 In the search box type in Benelli
  4. Al Tomlinson, I prefer the 26" barrel and have been shooting all of the clay games with success as well as upland and waterfowl. Go for it would be my recommendation.
  5. After 18 tears I had to send my old HK SBE in for an ejection problem...fixed it for free too, thank you CS. I:D had it back within 4 weeks.
  6. I don't believe so but you can try it out. There are universal choke wrenches made though.
  7. A set of 5 on Gunbroker is selling for $135 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=183744858
  8. Been shooting factory chokes since '91 with my HK SBE and killed a lot of birds and clays with them. They shoot as well as any extended choke I've got.
  9. Nice...is it a safe queen?
  10. Makes no difference whether I've owned one or not! If the steel cased rounds work fine, that is a good enough reason to shoot it, especially to save a few bucks when out plinking or burning a bunch of rounds for fun. If it doesn't, then don't buy it. Just because it's an MR1 doesn't mean someone has to shoot brass rounds exclusively, just because you said so. I do agree that good ammo is what should be used for hunting and serious shooting or if one prefers to spend the extra dollars. In my case, the AR-15 I shoot doesn't like the steel cased stuff so I shoot brass, M193 and M855 or BVAC fmjbt reloads. By the way, The myth about Wolf and other similar steel cased ammo is that it will wear your gun out quicker because the steel is much harder then brass. Well yes hardened steel would definetly do some damage but this is soft steel, as soft as brass. I wouldn't buy the laquer coated rounds either, only shoot the polymer coated rounds. It is no doubt dirty, but any ammo will cause rust and corrosion if you store the gun without cleaning it, you may just have to clean it better and quicker.
  11. A contradiction based on your previous comment "Art as much as I like offering up help to fellow MR1 owners I still gotta ask. Why in the **** would you need/want to use steel cased ammo in one? "
  12. Benelli fixed my 18yo HK SBE for nothing but the cost to ship it to them...call them and let them fix it.
  13. Adding to what tucker301 said, if you buy some steel cased ammo, buy the Wolf poly ammo which can be p/u pretty cheap and is pretty decent ...great ammo for the price and you're not faced with the same problems that the laquer coated ammo has. In terms of steel over brass...if the gun runs it fine, then use it. Most of the steel cased ammo is good stuff, it just non-corrosive and can usually be found much cheaper than brass cased.
  14. Having owned a Franchi Renaissance Classic, which was a great O/U I can tell you that the same people that handle Benelli c/s handle Franchi c/s...any c/s questions and answers come from the same Benelli USA customer service department. My question was answered on my first call. I had to hound them just a bit about my SBE issue though...they're not good at communication, so I would suggest follow up calls to them.
  15. Had a good friend with an M2 barrel issue that he took to Benelli customer service. There became an issue between he and the cs/gunsmith examining the barrel...after 2-1/2 months, repeated phone exchanges, he settled for a new barrel at a cost of $150. Wasn't happy when the new barrel arrive looking like it had a home made camo job on it. I told him to take it to the shop in Vacaville, Ca where he bought it and show and explain his issue...the owner contacted the rep and my buddy explained the whole scenario as it played out and his issue with the finish on the new barrel. A week later he recieved a new barrel and opted to keep the poorly finished barrel and not take a $150 refund. The rep did him right.
  16. All I can say is that most problems I've had with my Benellis have been user errors. After 17 years I did have failure to eject with my HK SBE. Talked to Benelli CS, sent it back and a month later got it back...all new/updated springs just for the cost of shipping it to Benelli. No charges, nada. That first Benelli was a life changing experience and I haven't looked back since. I've added 3 more Benellis in between. Trust is a must and that I do...consider me a Benelli fanatic.
  17. The MR1 is chambered for the 5.56 NATO round(.223) and should handle the steel cased ammo like the Russian mnf Wolf poly or the Bear ammo. I've found that some AR style rifles eat it like candy and some have problems. My AR didn't like it so I shoot nothing but brass .223 and 5.56. I would go out on a limb and say yes, but each gun is a little different when it comes to their diet.
  18. After giving it some thought, the Vinci might be a newly designed shotgun with new innovations but it seems much tighter than my HK/Benelli SBE. Although the recoil system has been re-designed, the inertia system remains tried and true. Every part is well manufactured, fit is magnificent and the shotgun shoulders well and shoots well. Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with the Vinci, after all it is a Benelli and any Benelli is as solid a shotgun as you can get. Simple is better and the Vinci is remarkably simple yet innovative.

  21. I now shoot a Vinci with the Comfort Tech and have shot an M2 with same and don't agree that it is a gimmick, because it works. I still shoot my original KH/Benelli SBE and can say...there is a "big dfference" in felt recoil. That said, I wouldn't hesitate to buy the American SBE if I ever wanted another 3-1/2" shooter. Great buy at the $1129 price tag. Isn't it great to have choices?
  22. Sounds like a fair price. Benelli doesn't even show the MSRP on their website yet. No comfort tech either.
