  1. ...just a note...buy a new gun if you can. You will get 3 chokes + a 5 year factory warranty with a new gun...no factory warranty with a used gun... for Benelli Sporting Firearms A new Benelli firearm is warranted only to the original retail purchaser for five years from date of purchase. This warranty applies only if the firearm was purchased from an authorized Benelli dealer in the United States or Canada. http://www.benelliusa.com/support/warranty.php
  2. Here is my 2 cents worth. 1. can the average hunter tell the difference between aftermarket and standard Crio chokes? 2. Cost? Will spending an extra $45 - $85 per choke really improve your shooting significantly over the Crios? 3. Extended chokes? If you want ease of changeability then consider the aftermarket extended tubes as a viable choice. 4. Briley isn't the only aftermarket choke company but they can be expensive...I prefer Carlson's for the affordability factor. I believe they offer as good a quality aftermarket choke as any other manufacturer and they have been in business for a long time. 5. Briley is probably the most visible choke manufacturer with the most variety to offer.
  3. ...perhaps a thorough cleaning of the trigger/hammer assembly along with proper oiling would cure the problem.
  4. This is all an illusion, not real...it can't be real...
  5. Your HK SBE is a Benelli...HK was the Importer back in the late 80's of the SBE. I've had mine(purchased 1989) worked on by Benelli last year...they went through it and replaced all the springs and a few other minor fixes and didn't charge me for the work done. I'd suggest that you call Benelli customer service. They can help you out. You don't have to mention that you're the second owner because they don't have HK's records anyway.
  6. You should be able to shoot it for the rest of your life. Good luck and happy shooting!
  7. "I’m considering an improved-modified choke and #4 shot for this hunt." Sounds as if you have it under control.
  8. I have sent an email off to Burris asking that very question. Will post the answer when I get it. [email protected]
  9. Looks as if you've made a decision. Congrats!
  10. There is more to the story than "Ted is a hypocrite". His hired guide is as guilty and responsible as Ted and should not have allowed this to happen. I'd like to know who it was and get the word out also so he doesn't guide again. Ted's ignorance on California law is Ted's fault, the guides ignorance was no better than a poacher. Ted Nugent takes responsibility for deer baiting MARYSVILLE, Calif. - Ted Nugent says he should have been better informed about California game laws after pleading no contest to misdemeanour charges of deer-baiting. Nugent said on his website Wednesday that he takes full responsibility for the hunting incident televised on a February episode of his Outdoor Channel hunting show. California game wardens watching the show saw Nugent kill an immature buck during the hunt in Northern California. Investigators found that the deer had been eating bait before being killed. Baiting wildlife is illegal in California. Nugent pleaded no contest last week to baiting the deer and not having a properly signed hunting tag. A Yuba County Superior Court judge ordered Nugent to pay a $1,750 fine.
  11. That wasn't the question, that was the thread title. What's your favorite quail gun?
  12. They're meat and potatoe guns, nothin fancy but oh so sweet to shoot.
  13. Ya would think the standard Benelli plastic case might be worth at least $5 grand? Then I woke up!
  14. No, I didn't make a special trip as I frequent the place at least once a week. It's good to know they are interchangeable though.
  15. I still use my 20ga. Fox Mdl B which was my first shotgun purchase in 1965. Something about a side by side and quail that just seems to fit. I've also used my Monty 24" 20ga but always seem to go back to my Fox, not that I don't like the 5.5lb Montefeltro.
  16. The recoil pad on the American will not interchange with the CT gel pads. I just did a visual at my local Benelli dealer's gunshop and they are completely different.
  17. I will take a wild guess and say that the CT pad will not fit the American synthetic stocks. If you take a look at the American on the Benelli website, the recoil pads are completely different.
  18. Who really gives a hoot. This is a Benelli forum not the National Gossip forum so I would suggest you find a more appropriate place to "gossip the stars".
  19. Whatever you decide to shoot, I would suggest you pattern the loads first. My SBE doesn't pattern #5's well, too many holes, but the 7-1/2 and 6's do pattern much better. I used my IC and M chokes on my pattern board at 30yds. and my M and IM at 40yds.
  20. I would echo hognutz advice. I own an original wood stocked HK/Benelli SBE which serves me today as it has since I purchased it 20 years ago with complete reliability. I recently purchased a synthetic Vinci which also is shooting reliably and fits me perfectly. I can switch between the two with complete confidence. My Vinci does handle the 1oz loads which my SBE never has...that and the 3-1/2" are the only real differences to me.
  21. I remember the early days of shooting 3-1/2", 1-9/16oz steel loads through my HK/Benelli SBE. Some shooters thought it was brutal, but I'm a pretty solid guy that it didn't bother...times are different now that I'm a lot older. I have let some unsuspecting souls shoot the SBE with the big loads and got a pretty good laugh until one guy was so shocked he almost dropped it. Needless to say, after I p/u and handed his false teeth back to him I stopped that practice.
  22. Gunbroker has people that list new and used. Have you considered a 20ga Montefeltro...they do weigh under 6 pounds.
