I made a few additional modifications to the Benelli 3; it is a work in progress! 1. OEM SuperNova C-stock recoil tube and locking nut 2. OEM SuperNova C-stock (Pistol grip needed some filing to fit the M3 trigger group tang) 3. OEM M1 Super 90 Enlarged Safety Lever 4. Freedom Fighters Tactical M1 Super 90: trigger, hammer, disconnector, and follower; providing 4 922r compliant parts. 5. SRM Performance Products M3 Sure Cycle 2 shot magazine extension 6. Taran Tactical M1 Super 90 Ultimate Charging Handle 7. Limbsaver M1 Super 90 Bolt on Precision fit recoil pad 8. GG&G M4 HK Hook Single Point Sling attachment (Plate needed to be drilled to mate with pistol grip alignment peg) 9. GG&G REM 870 HK Hook Forward Sling attachment with Picatinny Rail.(Need grinding and filling to fit mag tube and barrel junction)

No, USPS just delivered it this morning. I will test it out over the weekend with federal reduced power Tru-ball slugs and flight control buckshot to see if it effects cycling. A few months ago, I tried the Taran Tactical reduced power hammer spring and was plagued with light strikes even though they advertise 100% reliability.

So the additional weight on the BCG will have no effect on an inertia driven shotgun? I suppose with magnum loadings it would not matter, but it has always been my impression that cycling will be impaired with reduced power rounds. Why does Taran Tactical sell light weight BCG's if it "doesn't have ay effect on the operation of the gun"?

I just received a Taran Tactical CH for my benelli M3. I like the feel and it fits perfectly with no spin, but it weighs 22 grams, twice that of the OEM. Why the hel* does a company who produces reduced weight bolt carrier groups make ridiculously heavy charging handles to attach to them. I may try to hollow out the handle to reduce the weight or just go back to the OEM M3 CH. WTF...

New Benelli M4 and my modifications and testing
00stormbringer replied to Lindley's topic in Benelli
It is made by Mesa Tactical. http://freedomfightertactical.com/products-page/mesa-tactical-sling-attachments/mesa-tactical-push-button-sling-swivel-for-benelli-m4-skeletonized-stock-91330/ -
Thanks Vertigo! I will just order a 2 shot Sure Cycle extension and call it a day, saving the OEM full length tube and supporting parts that are on there way from Numrich as part of my spare parts kit.

The only thing that I have noticed when acquiring spare parts from Numrich's is that some of the parts are for curtain serial numbered M3's: S/N after M104801 (Trigger Group Assembly, Hammer, Trigger, Trigger Guard, Bolt Assembly, Firing Pin, Bolt, Forend Assembly Synthetic with Action Selector, Forend Synthetic). S/N after M0965546 (Forend Cap Swivel Ring, Forend Slide Support, Bolt Brace Assembly, Forend Fastening Screw, Action Selector Ring, Forend Plate, Action Selector, Forend Fastening Nut). S/N after M155399 (Magazine Tube). S/N after M181605 (Rear Sight Protector Guard). S/N after M133516 (Stock Retaining Nut Screw). Also, the SuperNova tactical notched C-stock tube #166s & Nut #075J fit my new Benelli M3 11606 S/N in the 800,000 range perfectly. The pistol grip from the SuperNova C-stock had to be filed down about 0.25" in the well area so that the trigger guard tang could seat.

I'm in the process of customizing my Benelli M3, so far I have added: 1. SuperNova notched recoil tube and locking nut, thanks H&KP2000 2. SuperNova C-stock 3 OEM 7 round magazine tube, thanks H&KP2000 4. FFT: trigger, hammer, disconnecter, and follower (M1's fit and function perfectly) for the required (4) 922r parts. I am just waiting for the replacement polymer forend slide support, polymer support washer, and support spring washer before I install the OEM 7 round tube. These parts must be epoxied in because they will not budge, and there is no doubt that these parts will be destroyed by the heat from the heat-gun. I am almost considering an extension instead, because I would hate to have to go through this process again to clean the tube or replace the spring! Sold my SF M80 and went with a FFT forend that needed a slight filing for a super tight fit, and matched it up with an AVA light/rail/QD Sling mount. The SF M80 was uncomfortable no matter what rail covers or grips I tried! Plus, it became a cluster f**k when adding lights, lasers, and/or pressure pads. The limited forend space on a shotgun is totally different then that of a carbine. If 922r is not an issue for your shotgun build, stick with the OEM unit.

I switch back to the OEM hammer spring because reliability is more valuable to me then reducing the trigger pull weight.

Fully collapsed is to short for me to shoulder. The Larue mount is quick to remove. I modified the grip core for the gg&g single point sling plate. http://forums.benelliusa.com/showthread.php/32577-Modified-C-Stock-Grip-for-GG-amp-G-Hook-Single-Point-Sling-Attachment I am using a Blue Force Gear SOC-C sling. It quickly converts from 1point to 2point to 3point. I use 1point for indoors and tight spaces, 3point if the weapon needs to stay in the ready position like when on guard duty, and 2point for all day comfortable carry. I recommend the AVA light mount, it is worth every penny.

Do you get a full or partial co-witness with the ghost ring sights and Aimpoint T-1? I have the Larue mount with a Sidearmor rail and it is no where near a co-witness sight picture. I may have to ditch my current setup and try the OEM rail and mount; a co-witness with the ghost rings would be optimal. Would you post a few pictures? Thanks.

Excellent work nimslow; the stocks are very cleanly cut. I am going to buy some marinetex and give it a try. What type of saw did you use for cutting?
-
It would be nice if Benelli would start offering a field stock with a shorter length of pull; until then, I will stick with the C-stock on the ,a little to short, middle setting. Does anyone have any experience with Modifying the LOP on Benelli Stocks? I have always heard the shortening the LOP effects the set comb level of the stock?

None, I store my firearms in a "gun safe" residential security container when I'm not carrying. It is quicker for me to open my safe then to fumble with keys, cables, and/or trigger locks. In addition, it provides security against theft and fire.

Does it reduce muzzle flash? Thanks!

I cut a half-moon from steel shim stock .015" and placed it between the clamp and tail cap to space the Surefire Fury away from the barrel; now it unscrews for battery changes without rubbing. I also use a snap ring to prevent forward movement. http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/sight-scope-installation-tools/scope-shims/kit-no-ac-24-steel-shim-stock-prod589.aspx

Best Full Length Magazine Tube For The Benelli M4?
00stormbringer replied to Raw Melody's topic in Benelli
I actual prefer the indigene camo model on mine. A cardboard poster tube fastened with crazy glue. LOL... -
Thank you for the follow up posts.

I also believe they have value, and will purchase them again for my next shotgun. Anything that will help you find and align your sights faster is beneficial.
