hognutz
Nice mess of doves! I really like that special windshield wiper dove holder. You don't see them much anymore. I had the turkey version but it really didn't work out that well. Nice shooting!! Where on the planet did you get them?

hognutz
pressure cooker 1 hour, pepper, salt, butter (early doves) Interesting. I would marinate them in Italian dressing overnight and grill them the next day. Breasts only. Either way, you can't go wrong.

tucker301
Like duck and other dark wild meat, overcooking makes it dry, tough, and gamey tasting. A nice sear on the outside and pink on the inside is the best way. We did recipes here a couple of years ago. Here's the link, if you want to add to that thread. http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14097 Bacon-wrapped with jalapenos and BBQ sauce is also killer. tucker301
A very nice cool morning by Southern VA standards. We setup off a creek channel in some flats, just off the main lake a ways. We've seen up to 80 birds using this area. Just a 1/2 dozen full bodies, but we put them on the X... or so we thought.
tucker301
The point was rocky, but it was where we wanted to be. I've hidden the boat about 200 yards down the creek channel in some willows. Tommy to my right Sean to my left We're ready. Initially, about 50 settled about 300 yards above us, at the mouth of the creek. Around 9 Am, they moved off and we thought we were screwed. 9:30 - 10:00 was the hot time. First group had 8-9. We only got four. OK, cobwebs cleaned out. Now we're ready. Second group of 7. One left there with a limp. The rest were scattered about the mud flats and the creek channel. I got one with each shot and joked in my best Tom Knapp voice, "Ho, ho, ho... A triple on the Benelli cam!" We should have left right then, but we're hard-headed. We stayed on the spot for the rest of the day. After 10 hours or so, those darned rocks were quite uncomfortable. We turned a good morning into a long and uneventful afternoon. Had one more pair come in for a look, but never got close enough for shots.
