Hookster
Hey All, I just noticed that Sidearmor has added some new products to their line, including, a new rail system with some more options like solid or channeled rails http://www.sidearmor.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=28_30&products_id=70 also some additional shell carrier options, with 2,6 and 8 shell carriers now available http://www.sidearmor.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=28_29&products_id=75 http://www.sidearmor.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=28_30&products_id=73 They are also offering their own 30mm optics mount too http://www.sidearmor.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=28_30&products_id=72 Later, Hookster Edited July 27, 2010 by Hookster fixed link Thanks Xamoel! :-)

Ilintner
Definitely made the choice on what rail system to grab a lot easier for me with these enhancements!

12508
That new rail looks very tempting. Does anyone know with that aimpoint mount they are offering if it is possible to cowitness with any optics out there??? edit: with that mount, besides the T/H1 micros . . . xamoel
another question: now they offer the choice between cut-out-channel rail or "in spec" rail. with the first version of the rail it would be pretty hard to see the front sight without a cut out channel. ms costa said that it is possible to see it without the channel, though it might be a little obscured. anyone with the NEW version and without the channel could post some pics? LeoAtrox
another question: now they offer the choice between cut-out-channel rail or "in spec" rail. with the first version of the rail it would be pretty hard to see the front sight without a cut out channel. ms costa said that it is possible to see it without the channel, though it might be a little obscured. I once did a little test by placing paper over the rail on my M4; and I had no problem finding and lining up the front sight. However, that was just the standard-length rail. I did not consider the effect of an non-channeled rail the length of the Sidearmor rail ... I'd like to see that too.
Broken Legend
How does the Sidearmor work with cleaning? Do you have to remove it to take off the barrel?
xamoel
no you don't, it will stay on forever! the sidearmor rail sits a little higher than the standard rail, and i tried it with paper today as well! you can still see the front dot, but not really well. i'm gonna go with the 6mm channel, it's smaller than the previous one anyway, which was about 8 to 9 mm. Duggan
Wait ... but this means ... there is now a rail available with no center cut notch! OMGOMGOGMOGMOGMGOMG
xamoel
would someone mind buying it for me and shipping it to germany (for a generous reward of course)? sidearmor doesn't ship internationally! PLZ!
StrangerDanger
See the knob on the front left side? Loosen it and remove the magazine cap. The barrel then pulls free. It's tool free. The only negative is the weight. Removal of the factory top rail will cut an ounce. Add a to tube to cut 5 ounces. This will reduce the weight penalty. The shell carrier is the best design. However, the weight of the added shells is steep. Whatever you plan on mounting, select lighter items. Ounces add into pounds very quickly. kronik
Are there cheaper alternatives to Sidearmor or is it essentially the best in class rail system for the M4 at current?
BM4robbins
Are there cheaper alternatives to Sidearmor .....? Haven't seen one reviewed yet. Looks like a similar improvement minus the shell carrier option, for significantly less $$$ http://shop.carriercomp.com/product.sc?productId=6&categoryId=
