SMOKESKULL
Whats the minimum specs for the M4 to cycle properly? I have some russian Domminion low recoil slugs and buck that has lots of trouble. Also some Score target loads are hit and miss. I have read some people dont seem to have any issues with any low recoil ammo and others need higher end ammo only. I love to shoot but dont want to spend a fortune on ammo if theres a flaw with my gun.
acro
Mine eats low recoil just fine.
samurai84
Mine generally eats light loads fine but I get the "high velocity" brands (High 1200 Low 1300 FPS) just to be sure. I did have more problems until I broke it in with about 100 slugs but after that it has run great.
Gmcrigger2007
I've had no problems with mine so far. Just used some lawman 1300fps slugs over the weekend and had no issues. Break it in with the hot stuff and work your way down.
charlie
My M4 will eat anything you can put in it, but when it was new it ran a little sluggish with light loads. This was because it was dry. After putting some oil to the internals it ran like a scared rabbit.
hughntx
My M4 will eat anything you can put in it, but when it was new it ran a little sluggish with light loads. This was because it was dry. After putting some oil to the internals it ran like a scared rabbit. That sounds like the best way to explain it. If you oil it up and still have problems, then there is something else wrong that needs to be addressed.
cspcrx
Mine is like Mikey, he eats anything. I broke it in wet and with OO, slugs and heavy loads. After that several boxes of bird/skeet loads. The feather lite loads I could find worked perfectly without issue.
StrangerDanger
The stronger the supporting shoulder, the weaker rounds should function okay. The only limit should be things like bird bombs, gray handicap loads and things like that. Value pack cheap ammo should cycle fine if you're supporting it well. z06man
Just got a Benelli M4 and had picked up some low recoil (1150 FPS) OO buck and and went to fire it. The Gun did not properly eject even one round. I had manually remove each spent round. I did not oil before shooting. Can anyone help suggest anything? Heavier ammo? Any recommendations? If heavier oiling , where exactly? Thx. This is my first shotgun. Edited March 8, 2020 by z06man Spelling

Don't do the pistons or the cylinders. Don't dump lube down the firing pin. If you are ever shooting and start experiencing problems, spray some CLP into the bolt through the ejection port. You can do this with an AR as well. I typically always have BreakFree CLP in my range bag for this very purpose.
jimbo45
Both of mine shoot 1145fps clay loads just fine. I did break them both in with buck and high brass loads.
z06man
Thx Jeff I’ll try what U suggested. I have some 1600 FPS slugs coming to break in the gun a bit and will oil the bolt and carriage area. NoTycoon
My M4 only has light load ejection problems on cold days. In the summer months it will eat anything.
skohler
Winter camp out with the boy scout troop allowed some free time so out came my Citori 725, SBE3 and my brand new M4 to shoot clays. Now first thing I did when I got my M4 was to tear it apart and lube the bolt, any rails or bolt contact points in the receiver and trigger group. The boys all have different abilities and most are young- but both Benelli's only shot inexpensive low velocity clay loads and not one malfunction. If there was an issue with shooting low recoil loads we would have seen it. Learn how and where to lube and that should solve most issues.
