forzArmata Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 That's right, double what it's worth new for the titanium/steel charging handle. I'd prefer it to be in mint condition or close to Quote
Unobtanium Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Respectfully, your offer will just get chuckles. I had a black one. I was offered hundreds of dollars. Quote

cspcrx Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 I and I am sure many others have been holding out for one for years. A bit of a unicorn in these parts now. Quote

StrangerDanger Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Someone offered me 500 for the one I have. I declined. The things are appreciating like bitcoins. Quote

Vortec MAX Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 I am running one of these charging handles on my 3-gun shotgun. It is definitely not a safe queen and has seen some serious use. It has held up very well. I wouldn't sell mine for $500 either. Mike Quote
StrangerDanger Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 I'll kick myself whenever another run of handles is done! I'd kind of feel bad if I gouged someone that badly, what is that, 900% markup? I tried to finance 500 of them from carriercomp to motivate them to do another run - went nowhere. Quote

I mean those guys are in the business of making these kinda parts. I'm surprised they haven't stepped up since a market exists. Quote

StrangerDanger Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Its a pain in the dick to make them out of two different materials. A rigid steel shank and a titanium knob portion with absolute perfect knurling. Then I assumed press fit together and possibly a few magical incantations. Then putting finishes on the knob and shank are different. Parkerizing on the shank and maybe ion bond on the knob. The transition point between the titanium knob and the shank is so perfect that you can't even see a transition point. No line or obvious interface of the parts. I don't if they put some kind of epoxy to mate the two pieces together or if it's simply a tension fit. Quote
Rasyad Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Okay Steve, now you are not helping........ I have a lathe, maybe I should get to work. Rasyad Quote
StrangerDanger Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Me too - but I'm more of a machin'ish than a machinist! You do much better work than I am capable of. Quote

DekNgo Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Me Me Me!! Everyone interested send an email to [email protected] Does this mean that Kip agreed to make more if there's enough interest? Or are you just saying to keep bothering him until he makes more? Quote
Unobtanium Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Kip is pretty imperturbable. I doubt he will be bothered into anything. The man moves through his projects like a glacier. A really precise and exacting glacier. 1 Quote
