Wildwest22
Hi everyone, I bought this gun new in 2012. I shot it a few times and put it in my safe. I got it out today to shoot and noticed that the barrel is bulged/tapered. It’s not just one bulge. The end of the barrel about 3 and 1/2 inches back from the muzzle is tapered out, and uniform all the way around the barrel as best I can tell. Is this normal or is something wrong. I only shot a few #4 buckshot, and my choke has 4 dots( improved cylinder. Thank you for your time
StrangerDanger
It’s fine. They’re tapered at the end to allow for the choke.

Jreeyang
You'll have problems. Don't know if you have a choke at the end of your barrel but my hunting smoothe bore does. Bulged bad enough I couldn't remove my choke. Sent it in to benelli and got the run around that they don't cover bulged barrels. They clearly know it's their product failure when it's happening over and over. But they just want to sell me another barrel. Another barrel that will bulge again? As others have stated the barrel is manufactured in that design to allow adequate metal thickness for the screw in choke tube. I've seen several “bulged” barrels caused by obstructions, i.e. mud, wads, choke tubes not screwed in completely, etc. This is not one of them.
