my M4 build, 11707 model (purchased august 2020): mesa tactical urbino stock with limbsaver carriercomp titanium extended mag tube with spring and follower trijicon rmr on scalarworks mount freedom fighters tactical 1/2" steel charging handle IWC light and sling mount streamlight TLR-1 HL blue force gear vickers sling grovtech QD swivel chokes: C, IC, plus the M supplied with the gun thanks to several here (especially stranger danger) for the inspiration and instructions.

My understanding is the top one in the picture in your original post is the new and improved charging handle design. I’m surprised to hear you have better luck with the old design. As I read through this thread, you also said you like the new design a lot. I’m confused, but that’s ok.

After buying the Briley carbon fiber mag tube I had this problem as well. I cut the spring a couple times, but still couldn't get it where I wanted it. I ended up buying a spring from Carriercomp and it worked perfect, no cutting.

Is your Cartridge Drop Lever spring installed correctly or missing.

After a few hundred rounds through my M4 with the Syncworks/RMR 3.25MOA, I’m back to report that the combo is just about perfect for me. Because of my height (I’m very tall) and arm length, the way the fixed stock positions the M4 when shooting puts the RMR dot in the perfect place for me - it’s just a natural fit. I’m glad I disregarded my initial desire for an Aimpoint T-2, listened to the opinions here (esp.StrangerDanger), and went with the RMR. That said, I can imagine if you had different proportions, another combo would work better. BTW - I went with the 3.25MOA dot because, when I ordered the mount/RMR combo, I wasn’t 100% certain that it was going to work for me. That way, I could detatch the RMR and use it on somthing else (it’s my chosen optic and MOA size for my pistols). I briefly flirted with the idea of mouting my Aimpoint EXPS3 on the M4, but it was not exactly what I was looking for.
