  1. ANY camo pattern that breaks up shapes and features colors from the surroundings will do well. New patterns are invented to sell people who already have plenty of camo clothing more camo clothing.
  2. You did indeed. I enjoyed reading your answer. Have considered doing the same many times.
  3. You're now on a watch list!
  4. Inauguration Day.
  5. There was a guy hunting in our area this year who was wearing some of that.....but no one saw him

  7. Walgreens? Maybe. Is Adam & Eve still in business?

  9. On another pro gun website, the idea of a 'Million Gun Owner March' has been tossed around. What follows is my view on that and current events concerning us gun owners.....my post follows... Regarding the 'million gun owners march' proposal, if its legit, organized, well planned out and co-ordinated with every gun group and organization we can think of, id do it no matter when or where. Problem is, I dont want to travel somewhere only to find it's been done with little effort and no-one is really there to support our cause. A situation such as that would do much more harm than good. It would make us appear, as uneducated, unorganized and unresponsive gun owners...it'd be a disaster. If it was done correctly and professionally however, I think a huge statement could be made and would certainly grab some attention and headlines for our cause. Its about time we ALL did something like this besides sitting back on our keesters waiting for someone else to step up and take up our slack and fight our fight for us. GET INVOLVED IN THE FIGHT! Its time to put up or shut up. If you do nothing, dont ever complain or whine again about the state of affairs. As for those that summarily dismiss the idea b/c you have to work, you have church or your checkers club is meeting that day... for those people, HOW BOUT MAKING A STAND AND OFFERING SOMETHING TO THE CAUSE??!! I understand people have to work and have commitments and plans that cannot be broken. However, everyone could afford (hopefully) to miss 1-2 days work for such an important cause. If you cant afford a day or two off for something as important as our freedoms, our rights, our constitution, then damn, maybe you dont need to be a gun owner. Along with that right to keep and bear arms, comes some responsibilities! Im not trying to berate anyone, my point is this, it's time to fight and its time to be heard and this could very well be the most important gathering (if it happens) in the history of gun ownership. This movement could be the turning point in the war on legally owned weapons, the turning point in the attack on law abiding citizens, the turning point in the attack on companies that make legal weapons products. PERHAPS MOST IMPORTANTLY, the turning point on the rights GUARANTEED us by our forefathers and given to us by every veteran that served and especially every veteran that died fighting for what he believed was a worthy cause. Those causes being THE AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE, WITH FREEDOMS, WITH CHOICES, WITH THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS! This fight is going to be long, difficult and expensive in many ways but we all have to sacrifice and give it our all and our utmost attention. The 'anti's' are counting on us being too 'comfy' in our homes, in front of our tv's with our feet propped up saying, 'I have too much to lose to get involved and my life is going just fine. Let someone else do all the speaking out and take all the risks, im not going to.' If you do nothing and we lose this fight, I hope you can look yourself in the mirror and your kids in the face and have a rational explanation as to why you did nothing while the very basis of our country is trampled on and dismantled by career politicians and those whom have a personal axe to grind. The U.S. is known as 'the land of the free and the home of the brave', if we stand by and do nothing, we'll be neither one of those things! Lets get up, get organized, get active, get out there and get our message out to the people that we are not the enemy, we are not the criminal element and we are not the ones to be pushed around any longer...please?! 10. 1. Phillips screwdriver. Place a drop of oil on the tip and push it into the hole in the pad. Engage screw head and turn screwdriver counter-clockwise. Repeat process in other hole. 2. No. 3. 10401

  12. If you want to spread your message, it's important to format the message so that it's concise and properly composed. Personally, I think the march is too risky to attempt. Several reasons. The mainstream liberal media will only cover it with a leftist bias, being watchful for any signs of trouble-makers and unlawful behavior. With a million or so people of ANY affiliation coming together in one place, it's pretty much a given that someone is going to cause some kind of trouble. It could be a bar fight, public drunkeness, or whatever, but you can bet that the media will focus on the least little thing and make a blanket big enough to cover us all with it. Image is everything. If just a handful show up in qasi-tactical and military styled gear, like some fools wear to the public ranges, then that's what the media will show to the world; and gun lover stereotypes will be reinforced in the minds of millions. Out of a million, there's almost certainly going to be a few that are carrying, despite any warnings or pleas to not do so. Many may be licensed, but all it would take is one screwup, just one. The risk simply outweighs the potential benefit. Grassroots local programs to educate the public and the kids is the way to go.
  13. I'm still trying to get enough the nerve to read it. Ever heard of formatting a paragraph?
  14. Just to maintain clarity... "Taped" would be the way most of us prefer Hillary's mouth. "Tapped" is what Bill did to... well you can get it from there
  15. Update: Outoodr Life magazine has fired Jim Zumbo after 30 years of service. Jim Zumbo - 2/22/07 "The last few days have been an educational experience, to say the least. My ill-conceived inflammatory blog, as all of you now know, set off a firestorm that, I’m told, has never before been equaled. I’m not proud of that. Let me say this at the outset. My words here are from the heart, and all mine. No one can censor me, and I answer to no one but myself. And I have no one to blame but myself. Outdoor Life, a magazine that I worked for full-time as Hunting Editor for almost 30 years, fired me yesterday. My TV show was cancelled yesterday. Many of my sponsors have issued statements on their website to sever all relationships. This may cause many of you to do backflips and dance in the streets, but, of course, I’m not laughing, nor am I looking for sympathy. I don’t want a pity party. They say hindsight is golden. Looking back, I can’t believe I said the words “ban” and “terrorist” in the context that I did. I don’t know what I was thinking when I wrote that. I can explain this as sheer ignorance and an irresponsible use of words. What I’ve learned over the last few days has enlightened and amazed me. As a guy who hunts 200 days a year, does seminars on hunting, wrote for six hunting magazines, had a hunting TV show, and wrote 20 books on hunting, how could I have been so ignorant and out of touch with reality in the world of hunting and shooting? But I was. I really can’t explain it, maybe because I just summarily dismissed the firearms in question in my mind when I saw them in magazines and catalogs. I saw one “black” firearm in a hunting camp in all my 50 years of hunting, and I shot one last year off a boat when fishing in Alaska. To tell the truth, it was fun and I enjoyed it immensely, but I never considered one for use in hunting. I have to tell you that I have had a revelation. I’m learning that many of my pals own AR-15’s and similar firearms and indeed use them for hunting. I was totally unaware that they were being used for legitimate hunting purposes. That is the absolute truth. My biggest regret is not the financial impact of all this. I’m almost 67 and retirement is an option. The dreadful impact here is that I inadvertently struck a spear into the hearts of the people I love most…America’s gun owners. And, even though this huge cadre of dedicated people have succeeded in stripping me of my career, I hold no grudges. I will continue to stand as firm on pro hunting as I’ve ever done. But what’s different now is that I’ll do all I can to educate others who are, or were, as ignorant as I was about “black” rifles and the controversy that surrounds them. My promise to you is that I’ll learn all I can about these firearms, and by the time this week is out, I’ll order one. The NUGE has invited me to hunt with him using AR-15’s, and I’m eager to go, and learn. I’ll do all I can to spread the word. I understand that many of you will not accept this apology, believing that the damage has been done and there’s no way to repair it. You have that right. But let me say this. I mentioned this above, and I’ll repeat it. I’m willing to seize this opportunity to educate hunters and shooters who shared my ignorance. If you’re willing to allow me to do that, we can indeed, in my mind, form a stronger bond within our ranks. Maybe in a roundabout way we can bring something good out of this. Jim Zumbo "
  16. If the local guy doesn't pan out, I'd contact Briley and see if they will do it. See posts in these forums regarding the mag. tubes. There's a guy making and selling them here and he does excellent work.
  17. Yes, the newer BAR's are much nicer. The synthetic "Stalker" models are real beauties.
  18. Yes, it's called cast. RH guns are typically "cast off" and LH guns are setup "cast on". In either case, the stock is angled slightly away from the cheek to allow the shooter to get squarely behind the gun. The steel plates with the off-center holes determine the cast. As HW stated, the manual outlines how to arrange them for the desired cast and drop. If you don't have all the pieces, contact Benelli and ask for them
  19. Righthanders use DX. Lefthanders use SX. That's the only cast adjustment there is.
  20. An accurate, lightweight, reliable semi-auto hunting rifle is an elusive beast. If you're willing to sacrifice some weight for accuracy, consider and AR from DPMS in .308, .260, 6.8 SPC, .300, or .243. If you want to maximize your chances at getting a decent shooter in a more traditional design, then your best bet is with Browning and the Shortrac/Longtrac line. The R1 is coming along, but it's not there yet. I hope Benelli will stay on it and continue to improve the R1 line with better triggers, better accuracy, and more reliability.
  21. Well, it looks like at least gun/hunting advocate agrees with me. NUGE Administrator posted 02-20-2007 08:35 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- oh ye of little faith. Hear me & hear me well; I spoke at length with Jim. His mea culpa is indeed sincere, and my take on this is deadnuts accurate. Im tellin ya this is OUR moment. Jim has given me every indicator that he has learned an enormous lesson here & now stands to take that enormous lesson to those in most desperate need of it; the divisionery antis within our own gun ranks. Dont toss this new powerful recruitment crowbar away. plz. Zumbo: "And, to show that I'm sincere about this, I just talked to Ted Nugent, who everyone knows, and is a Board member of the NRA. Ted is extremely active with charities concerning our wounded military, and though he's known as a bowhunter, Ted has no problem with AR 15's and similar firearms. My sincerity stems from the fact that Ted and I are planning a hunt using AR 15's. I intend to learn all I can about them, and again, I'm sorry for inserting my foot in my mouth."
  22. On another gun forum, one member just apologized to another for making unfounded and erroneous assumptions based on the other fellow being from Minnesota. Seems he assumed that the fellow must be a Democrat if he's from a blue state. The apology was accepted and they moved on. Funny thing is, the guy who wrote the public apology didn't think Zumbo's apology was sincere and that it should be discarded, while Zumbo is still labeled the enemy. I wonder how this guy would feel if Republicans called him a traitor and demanded that his employer immediately terminate him? I mean, divided we fall, right? Irony's a mean and twisted B**** sometimes, ain't she?

    POA is off!

Nate, you have supplied enough information for anyone to address your issue specifically. I hope the general good advice will suffice.
  24. Early in his first writing he admitted being clueless about the weapons. Admittedly, this is when he should have realized that he could stand to learn more before spewing forth a bunch of misconceptions about them and the people who use them. I own an AR and I wasn't one bit degraded by his comments, because I understood that they were based on a complete lack of knowledge on the subject. He could have taken wiser steps, like perhaps researching the matter and then voicing an educated opinion, but he didn't. Zumbo has been a trusted and reliable friend of sportsmen for over 40 years. It's just a shame that he made a "Jimmy The Greek" mistake and he's paying for it so dearly. This country gives way too much credence to the few and the loud when things don't go the way they want them to go. Just remember that the same factors that brought about the sure and swift end to Mr. Zumbo's career today may very well play against us in another battle of higher consequences.
  25. Sort of my whole point. Any one of the numerous prominent AR manufacturers could have used the opportunity to invite Mr. Zumbo to their facilities where he could be taught how the weapons are made and how they are used in tactical, military, sporting and competitive environments. Doing so would have been a great PR opportunity for the industry, and it could have served to educate a vast audience on the facts concerning semi-automatic firearms. I'd rather educate someone and make a friend of them than to chop off his head and make a martyr for the opposition, solidifying their stereotypical views of gun owners as hate-mongering, intolerant hot-heads. The "kill all who oppose us" stance (metaphorically or literally) is not the image we need to project these days. Again, the only group that can possibly gain from this outcome is the Brady Bunch. Had it been handled more objectively and intelligently, the industry could have made a better example of Jim, by making him into a publicly converted proponent of semis.
