  1. I've been driving all night, and I'm in a motel ablout halfway to Idaho, taking a break. I didn't want to stop, but the wife and kids said I had to do it. A few hours sleep and I get online and read that it was a TYPO?!?! Dude, I was in the process of moving! Next time, be more careful /headed back to VA
  2. reaper, You can't refer to a file on your computer. You must use an image hosting service. Right-click one of the images above and choose "Properties" to see what I mean. For more detailed instructions, read this.
  3. This country became great due to changes brought forth by people who voiced their displeasure with the status quo. Dissenting voices should always be heard. It keeps a system honest and it keeps it growing. Although, I do not fully agree with Mr. Young, I must respect his right to say what's on his mind. I could say a ton of bad things about his country, Canada, that is if I gave a rip about it one way or the other.
  4. You're right, princess. But I'm still inclined to believe that the problem lies with you, and not the weapon, darling.
  5. Cheapest I can remember gas being is about twenty cents a gallon. I was mowing lawns for a living and I'd do a 2,000 sq ft lawn for $5.00, and I had a killer profit margin. Used a 3.5 hp 20" push mower. A typical Saturday would yield $10 or $15. Serious pocket change for a 10-11 yr. old. Now, I wouldn't even consider driving a few miles to look at your lawn for $5.00.

  8. It will do that pretty consistently with the 150 Accutips. Others seem to open up to 2-3".
  9. Yes, I have one. I got my best groups with Remington Accu-tip 150 grain, but others have had better results with other loads. Each gun is unique and different. Yes, mine groups pretty well with the Remingtons. - - However, I'm a bit of a fanatic when it comes to accuracy, so I'm selling my R1 and am going to try something else. Time will tell if it's a step in the right direction or not. $1,000 plus shipping to your FFL $1,250 with the Leupold. - -
  10. The light film of oil that most people leave in their barrels after cleaning can cause the point of impact to shift. If you do not have the opportunity to fire a couple of foulers on your hunting trip, then at least run several dry patches through the bore before going out. If you're hunting every day for several days, then it's not necessary to clean the bore each evening. The exception would be if it is exposed to water or dirt. Most rifles shoot more consistently after having a few rounds through them.
  11. There are two good points to this question. The first round through a cleaned, oiled barrel will typically impact the target considerably differently than would a round from a fouled (having several shots through it) barrel. If you're going to clean and lube the weapon, it's best to fire a round of two to foul the barrel, before shooting game. The second point deals with variances in temperature, humidity, and even elevation. Sighting in at 70 degrees, with 50% humidity, and at 400 ft. elevation, and then hunting at 20 degrees, 20% humidity and 7,000 ft is going to produce great variance in the point of impact. Best practice, fire several rounds at or near hunting hunting conditions to make sure the point of impact is where it should be, and to foul the barrel. As far as the "big deal" goes, the more consitent the equipment can be, then less it can be affected by shooter inconsistency and varying conditions. If a rifle shoots 1 MOA under ideal conditions, then it will shoot better under adverse conditions.
  12. Finally, logic steps into this conversation Butch, I've seen the e-mails about Exxon Mobil, but I've also seen local distributors' trucks leave the off-brand station, drive across the street, and fill up the Exxon tanks. I'm not sure the boycotting of a brand will have any effect at the levels that need to be affected. I'd like to see everybody take a week off, stay home and re-connect with their families, maybe paint a room or two, and let the greedy sumbiches begin to choke on their supply because demand dropped off to nothing.

  15. I just use a couple of drops of oil and have never had a problem. I do religiously clean my gun after each use, however. Most folks say that automotive anti-sieze works well.

  17. I've already got one, and it's a LH model. I'm trying to not give you such a hard time about it, but I really think you're nitpicking a bit. Granted, the factory tubes do not shoot well for me either, but mine with the Rhino Extended tube is good stuff. As suggested above, you may want to try different loads and an aftermarket tube or two before writing the gun off completely. Look through mudhen's posts. He's invested a lot of cash into testing various tubes and loads, and his experiences can save you a lot of legwork. I believe he's even posted some recent patterning photos, so you can see for yourself what the gun will do. Another point worth making is that Benelli's Customer Service Department is second to none. If you're unhappy with the performance of the gun, they will listen to you; and if they think your expectations are reasonable (I do not), then they will work with you to satisfy you. 18. Sell it or trade it immediately.
  19. HH, I think you misread mudhen's post. He says that you do not want to cover the head, because turkeys tend to bob and weave quite a bit. As far as a shotgun pattern being an inch off at 20 or 3 inches off at 35 yards, I'd say that either is about as good as it gets. An inch is about twice the width of a 12 ga. shell. It's a shotgun. I honestly can't see how one would even discern that a pattern is off by an inch at 20 yards, but I'm willing to learn something new. So, if the OP has a the means by which to upload a photo of this atrocious pattern, I'd love to see it. If someone wants to turkey hunt with a more precise weapon, then they should definitely consider using a rifle. And, BTW, I've seen some combinations of shooters and rifles that could do no better than an inch at 20 yards
  20. It is a lightweight pump shotgun. As such, recoil can be expected to be higher than that of a heavier gun, a gas operated gun, or a heavier gas operated gun. If recoil is a concern, don't get one. Benelli makes some nice 20 ga. guns.
  21. I haven't bought any in a little over a week, so I'll have to check.
  22. How do see a 3" variance in a typical shotgun pattern at 35 yards? You have two choices with regard to right and left and the shims. Cast on and cast off (no Karate kid jokes, please). Cast off is typically the way a RH gun is set up. It can be changed to cast on for LH shooters.
