Tug, man. TUG!!

Steel, when tightly constricted, doesn't do well. The pattern may actually open up and have more fliers than you would with lesser constriction. And, no, do not use full chokes (extended or otherwise) with steel.

PS: anxious is a commonly misused word. Properly, if you were anxious about getting your new gun, you would be nervously apprehensive about its arrival.

Winchester AA Shotshells Heavy loads would be loads which exceed the recommended minimum, or high velocity loads. You would use the full choke for all non-steel shot. Lead, tungsten, bismuth, tungsten-iron, depleted uranium, etc. Oiling the inside of the barrel would be accomplished by applying a few drops of oil to the bore snake or a clean patch and running it through the barrel. This would be easier than trying to squueze the bottle through the opening. The first thing you need to look for in a cleaning kit is the instructions. Aluminum or synthetic rods, bronze or aluminum brushes, patches, small parts brush, solvent, oil. You should spend some serious time with a friend or mentor who knows how disassemble, clean, and re-assemble a shotgun. Otherwise, I've got a feeling we're going to be hearing a lot from you.

The tool is built into the end of the forearm. Use the sling stud. I know... I don't like using the forearm as a wrench either

What does it come shipped in? Benelli hard case. Will the standard chokes that come with my gun, hurt my barrel after shooting alot of steel? No. Just use the tubes recommended for steel shot (modified or wider). I was going to get one of those Silicone socks to put it in. Don't. Just keep it in the hard case or a gun safe. Keep it in a low humidity environment and keep the metal surfaces clean and LIGHTLY oiled. I wanted to break it in Use loads which meet or exceed the recommended minimum. About 2 boxes of heavy loads or 4 boxes of standard loads AA, will do it. I was also wondering what exactly i should do to keep my gun clean and working properly. Not sure exactly what oil to use, do i oil my stock, the receiver, what? DO NOT oil the stock. Use a quality furniture cleaner or lemon oil, wiping dry and clean. For the metal surfaces, use a quality oil like the one supplied with the gun. Hoppes Elite is also very good and will do no harm to the blued or nickle finishes. Always apply oil sparingly and wipe away excess. Never leave her dripping (this goes for guns too ). I bought a rope brush (bore snake) with brass cleaners in the middle which i was going to use to clean my barrel with. Is that correct? Yes, the bore snake will do a good job. You should also purchase a good quality shotgun cleaning kit. How do i keep my barrel from rusting? Apply a light coat of oil to the interior and exterior surfaces after cleaning. Do i clean and oil my gun everytime i shoot it? Absolutely! Do that and she'll be new for a long, long time. Well that's all the questions i could think of at the moment, i'm sure i'll get more in the future Whew! A Anxious New Benelli Owner Anxious and eager are two different things

It's held in by a rim on the pad which fits into a groove in the butt of the stock. Give it a firm pull while twisting to one side. [ 12-29-2005, 07:23 AM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

I really like the ones that kill the turkey when I shoot at him

Hi-Vi appears to be a Chinese speaker company. Do you mean Hevi-Shot? Hevi-Shot can be used as a substitue for lead shot, through any choke. It will not damage your gun's barrel, and it is very effective. Lead shot (copper plated lead paritcularly) is excellent for turkey. I like to use 4's, but anything from BB's to 6's is OK. Check local regulations, which may limit shot type and size. Benelli and most other modern firearms are designed to handle steel shot, but are recommended for chokes no tighter than modified. Lead and lead alternatives can be used in any choke. [ 12-28-2005, 11:43 AM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

I used a Nova for one season. Fired numerous 3.5" shells through it with no problems. And yes, although they are designed similarly, the Nova and P350 are worlds apart with regard to qulaity of materials and workmanship.

Tom Knapp's site lists them. I don't know if they're in stock or not.

Merry Christmas, all. Be safe and be happy!

And that should be, "you're a funny guy".

If lubing helped, cleaning and lubing may work miracles.

Indeed it is. However, if I were a saltwater hunter, I'd send my Eagle to either Birdsong & Associates for Black-T or to M & R for Diamondkote.

Almost forgot. Regarding the pin feathers. My elders used to scald the turkey with hot water before plucking it. Presumably, this makes the feathers release. They've also used a flame to burn them off. Not the sort of thing you'd want to do indoors

I never pluck wild turkeys, or any other wild game bird. We cook the turkeys in those oven bags and they're always plenty moist and tender. The bacon sounds like a good idea too though. Good luck on the weekend trip!

Mudhen has already answered that question above. The SBEII is considered to be an improved barrel over the SBE. I don't know about overbored or the length of the cone, but the crio treatment improves pattern density.
