  1. One more thought, sactor. The rail is labeled as to which end goes towards the front (muzzle) of the rifle. Are you installing it with the arrow pointing towards the muzzle?
  2. Any chance you could post a picture of the mismatch? Either way, go back to the dealer and request that they correct the problem. If they refer you to Benelli customer service, remind them that THEY are the dealer and as such, are obligated to the customer as much or more than the manufacturer. It should be they who are on hold for 15-20 minutes, not you. If they have a problem with that, they should complain to their Benelli rep. the next time they speak.
  3. The problem of not cleanly ejecting shells can be caused by a number of things, including improper cleaning and lubing. My SBEII is two years old, and it has NEVER failed to cycle a single shell. As others have stated, giving the gun a thorough and proper cleaning before using it is a step in the right direction. I use Hoppes Elite Gun Cleaner, wipe dry, and follow with a Benelli oil sparingly applied. There have been numerous other posts on these forums regarding Benelli cycling problems. Using the search feature and reviewing those posts will yield various things one can try to correct the problem. Ultimately, I think most of the problems stem from owner/user error rather than from manufacturing defects. One other thing worth noting. For every person who posts on these forums regarding having a problem with their Inertia shotgun, there are literally thousands who have shot them for years without a hitch. I considered barney's post as nothing more than a troll, because he offered absolutely no details regarding his problem. Throwing in that comment about two friends having the same problem just pegs the BS meter in the red. buddha, You are well on your way to owning one of the best sporting shotguns in the world. Whether or not you allow some flippant negative comments to sway you in another direction is totally up to you.
  4. I have no monet. Therefore I am baroque. /I love that joke
  5. Yes, it was I who had the mismatch problem last year. My stock had cracked and CS had sent me a new one, but the grain and color were mismatched. I waited until the season was out and sent them the forearm. They found a perfect match and sent everything back to me. This is when I learned the Benelli CS is great to work with. You've just gotta have faith and some patience. Foxbat, you may want to ask them about doing this as well. The digital photo idea is good, but them having your stock in hand would be better. The ticker and I are doing very well. I've been doing a lot of walking and I can easily go 4 miles with no problems now. I could go farther, but I get bored. Went for my checkup the other day and they say everything is healing as it should. Still not supposed to shoot until Jan. 31st, but I've already shot my varmint rifle and my new Savage Striker pistol a few times. Even been hunting a couple of times, but haven't seen anything worth pulling the trigger on.
  6. 69, Where's that other hand? Nice bird! Nice lawn!
  7. Yes, you can get a replacement from Benelli. The part should be covered under warranty. Contact Customer Service via phone on Monday. Have your serial number ready. Tell them your situation and ask them to send you a replacement forearm. Ask if they can take your credit card information and send the replacement before you send in the cracked one. If you don't send the cracked one in 15 days, they will bill you for it.
  8. No. It sounds like the dealer may have given you the wrong rail. Go back to him.
  9. I'll give you and your friends $300 ea. for them.
  10. Wanna sell it?
  11. I shoot mine LH'd with no problems at all. The shell is ejected forward and to the side and it has no chance of hitting you.
  12. Slug technologies have come a LONG way in the last quarter century. Here's one I dug out of an 8 pointer I shot in 1983. It was 3 degrees that morning (bitter, record cold for Southern VA). I was at one of my favorite spots on the banks f a small river, bordering a large grain field. There was a 50 yard wide strip of hardwoods buffering the field from the river. This provided a natural travel funnel and corridor for deer. I lost count how many deer I took along that 500 or so yards of river. Every hour, I'd get up and walk a lap around the field, just to get the blood flowing enough to warm myself back up. At 9 AM, I killed a bobcat as she walked the frozen river, carrying a mouse she had captured. At about noon, I heard the rustle of a fast moving animal directly behind me. Something had spooked him from the other side of the field. Maybe it was me on my last warm-up lap? By the time I got the 870 shouldered and found him in the scope, he was maybe 25 steps from me and coming like a locomotive. Steam poured from nostrils and he looked like a monster. I centered the crosshairs in his chest and let one go. He hit the ground like the horses used to do in the old western movies, when they used tripwires to make them fall. His nose was plowing up leaves as he skidded about 8 feet, before coming to halt just a few feet from me. I remember thinking briefly that he was going to plow right over me! The below slug, a solid lead hollow point Remington Slugger, traveled the entire length of his body, cutting a path next to his spine. Its final resting place was next to his bladder, in the pelvic cavity. The hollow point turned intself completey inside-out and made a pretty good model of a donut

    Nova

I did hear through the grapevine that a new version of the Nova is being developed. NovaII?... Sounds like an old Chevy, doesn't it? I hope I'm not letting any cats out fo the bag by telling this. Anyway, it will come with a ComforTech and pistol grip stock. [ 12-01-2005, 06:42 AM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]
  15. I see that Joe Zullo is our newest member here. I'd like to extend a special welcome to Joe. I know Joe, sort of, from another forum, and I can tell you that the man knows his stuff. Joe's specialties include competitive rifle shooting, web design and maintenance, and my favorite - proper utilization of the Shift key Welcom, Joe! Glad to have you here.

    Nova

It already has one The Nova's stock and receiver are integrated, so a pistol grip only would mean that one would have to replace the receiver as well. Since the receiver is in effect the gun, I don't can't see anyone offering one. That said, with the right tools and skills, one can do just about anything.
  17. It's either true or you're a pathological liar I mean, did he say it or not? Enough jesting. I suspect what you really meant to ask was whether or not the rest of us agreed with his statement. I do not. I shot slugs through a smoothbore IC for several years. They grouped well and there were no ill effects on the barrel. As long as the slugs are of the design for smoothbores, there should be no problems using them in your SBE, or any other modern firearm with IC or wider choke.
  18. One commonly published trick is to wrap a shoestring around the handle two or three times and PULL. [ 11-30-2005, 05:28 AM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]
  19. I had to make two adjustments when I bought my LH SBEII. The first was to install the RH cast shims, because I was so used to shooting RH guns that the LH setup was actually wrong for me. The second was to adjust my sight picture so that I was seeing the full target above the barrel rather than covering the target with the end of the barrel. Now - or as soon as I'm healthy again - I shoot better than ever. Red Mule - You can't expect Benelli to be able to make a gun to suit 100% of the consumers off the shelf. You should work with the gun and give it a chance before giving up on it. Try adjusting your sight picture as described above. Once you get used to it, you'll like the results. glassman, You have a positive attitude and are willing to adapt and to be flexible. Soon, you will be a huge fan of the SBEII.
  20. It's a dammed shame that Benelli doesn't require perspective owners to pass some kind of basic shotgun knowledge aptitude test before being allowed to purchase one of their fine fireams
  21. I tried doing that too, but the FBI said I couldn't
  22. I had an 870 for 26 years. I always cleaned it with a bronze brush, followed by cheap paper table napkins (perfect size for 12 ga.). When I sold it last year, the bore was as bright and smooth as it was when it was new.
