  1. And please be careful with that trigger work! Don't rush it. It's a lot of easier to take metal off than it is to put it back on Watch the geometry of the surfaces and maintain the factory angles, trying to prevent rounding.
  2. With regards to the change of POI (Point of Impact): See the posts here regarding the old and new types of barrel retaining nuts. The old (indexed type) can work itself loose under firing and temp. changes. The new (spring-loaded) cap seems to fix this problem effectively. If you have the original cap, try tightening it down another click or two past the index marks. Mine was three clicks past index after just a couple of boxes of ammo. CS should send you a new type upon request at no charge. Just give them your serial number. Depending on the ambient temperature when you first shot gun, it's possible that the load will shoot slightly hotter when the air, and therefore the cartridge, is warmer, but the variance should not be 9". Addressing the ejection problems, be sure to remove the gas piston tube from the cylinder plunger pin as shown in this discussion, which also covers the two barrel nut types. Make sure that the carbon fouling is removed and that the parts are lightly oiled before re-assembly. Generally, use a quality cleaner and a quality light oil on all working parts. Never leave it dripping with oil.
  3. Thanks, guys. Now let's see some more hunting pics!!
  4. Nice looking mallards, mudhen. Unfortunately, my season is pretty much over. If I'm lucky, I'll see some action late goose season. If I'm REALLY unlucky, I'll be joining your mallards 3x bypass is scheduled for 10-31 (That's right...Halloween). I'll be off the boards for a while, so it's up to you and a select few others to keep the crazies at bay for the start of the silly season Wishing everyone a productive and safe season. Shoot often and shoot well, tucker
  5. I've never heard of it. Since it has happened twice with the same gun, if I were Benelli I'd want to see the whole gun. Given the history, and the fact that you've got the ring, I don't think you'll have any problems getting the barrel.
  6. It was just pretty obvious that one model comes with the extension while the other does not. Or at least, that's the way I see it on the website. However, DV, in retrospect, my answers have been terse at times. My apologies. I've got a lot on my mind, and perhaps I should be elsewhere when my mind is elsewhere. bkirsch, While it's true no moderators have posted in a while, I can assure you that Benelli is well represented by others on this forum.
  7. You can't see the magazine extension?!
  8. It's pretty obvious here.
  9. I'm sure CS would be willing to help, even though the gun may be out of warranty. You said you cleaned the cycle mechanism. Was there any sign of wear or corrosion? Did you fully diassemble the bolt group and clean the internal parts? What kind of cleaner and oil are you using? I don't know if Sure Cycle makes a 20 ga. system for the Monte, but you may want to check with them.
  10. Sorry, I was thinking of the SS ComforTech model. In that case, you should be able to fit a limbsaver to it with little or no trouble. Have you checked their templates to see if there is a match?
  11. It looks like the same pad as the SBEII. If you can confirm that, it should make the search much easier.
  12. Benelli Dealers Brownells Benelli Customer Service
  13. Jed, Have you contacted Benelli customer service about the gun?
  14. E-mails have been known to be ineffective. Better to call.
  15. This should be good
  16. Yes, it's fine. Just use the Benelli or similar quality gun oil. No WD-40.
  17. Put a couple of drops of oil on the two o-rings, then slide the piston tube off by giving it a firm steady pull while twisting.
  18. So, did you call customer service?

    Shot advice

    No problem at all.
  20. Nice poll. "Waterfowl"
  21. You do know that the piston tube will, with a bit of force, slide off towards the muzzle... over the two o rings? Put a drop or two of oil on the o rings, then twist and pull the tube off. This gives full access to the nasty cylinder plunger pin. Post back if you need a better description and I'll try to upload a picture for you.
  22. I haven't had mine out. It's probably set in there with high strength loctite. My require heating to break loose.
  23. ... and remove all doubt
  24. Never had single problem with mine, but others have experienced this. 1. I agree that you need help, and customer service is the best place to get it. Call them ASAP. What kind(s) of shells are you shooting. I believe a fair number of users see this with Win. Drylocks, although I've never had a problem with them either. Also, the butt of the gun must be firmly planted against your shoulder when firing. If you're off the shoulder, it may not cycle properly. There have been problems with shooting at straight up or near straight up angles as well. Rare, but it has happened. Again, the FIRST thing you need to do is to call CS. They have been nothing but excellent when I have worked with them. I'm nobody special. Just another owner.
  25. Ultimately, it comes down to which gun feels best in your hands. The Cordoba's wide rib may be a benefit on the range, but if it is, why don't huntng guns feature it as well? Note the longer forearm on the Crodoba. If you are of larger stature, then this may of benefit to you. As out above, the extended chokes are of some additional value. I also like the way the barrel extends to comprise the top half of the receiver on the Cordoba and SBEII. This is quite handy when cleaning, and I don't know why Benelli doesn't go ahead and switch all guns to this design. HTH tucker
