The black finish isn't particularly durable either. Easily scuffs and seems thin to me, but it does wear well. It is my intention to wear mine until I can't stand the sight of it anymore, then have a Gonkote finish applied.

If there's one subject that's been covered on these forums, it's turkey chokes. Use the search feature. Your Benelli dealer can give you pircing on factory chokes. They can also be found on Ebay most of the time.

sbeII, Quoting the IL DNR, "For the 2005-2006 migratory waterfowl season, the state of Illinois and Federal agencies have decided to try an experimental "no holds barred" waterfowl season, removing any and all restrictions. This means that for this season only (October 1 thru February 28, hunters will be able to shoot any and all waterfowl without concern for bag limits, weapon legality, species, method taken, and so on. Specifically, there will be no imposed limits of any kind on any waterfowl you choose to take. Shoot whatever comes your way! It's too confusing trying to tell one duck from another in pre-dawn light anyway. Speaking of pre-dawn light, the DNR has also ruled that hunters can take waterfowl at any time of the day, as long as there's enough light to safely see that what they think they're shooting is a bird of some kind. There are no limits on shotgun capacities, and magazine extensions are allowed this season. Lead shot is also allowed, as we've determined that we'd rather have a few shorebirds poisoned than a bunch of wounded ducks flopping around and feeding the coyotes. Electronic calls, throw nets, live decoys, and baiting are also going to be allowed this season. Did we leave something out? Doesn't matter, if you can think of another way to kill waterfowl, it's legal! Since these rules changes have basically done away with the rules, enforcement is no longer necessary. We estimate that laying off the bulk of the state's conservation officers will save millions of dollars, and every hunter should expect a rebate check in March (as soon as we've had time to crunch the numbers). We're also considering sponsoring a 'Most swans slayed in a day' contest with a cash prize of $25,000! We look forward to hearing from waterfowlers on the success of this bold experiment, and we encourage you to take lots of pictures and video of your hunts and to share them with us. So remember, in Illinois, if it flies - it dies!" [ 10-05-2005, 04:01 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

POA - Point of Aim

I only fired five rounds. Two to get it where I wanted it, then the group. My primary focus was on my muzzleloader, a .22 with a new scope mount, and some testing of my new Kenton Industries TTC on my varmint rifle. I'm going to be spending quite a bit more time with this little gem

Yes, I did. They've only seen limited use so far on a few geese, but they performed well. I'm going again this Thursday for mallards and woodies over decoys... over easy

The gun ships with a plug (usually already installed). The plug limits the magazine tube to 2 shells of any length. Add 1 in the chamber, and baby makes 3.

Never heard of them until you posted, but A quick look around the net yielded some very favorable comments. This one is pretty impressive stuff.

I couldn't fnd one. Have you called all the listed dealers in your area?

Have you seen the homemade video? Pamela Lee is pretty wild herself

Anon, Someone who chooses to put the word "Idiot" in their own moniker should expect a certain level of sarcasm. Besides, I saw it as a valid question; and I suspect you learned something about being more careful when taking apart stuff. [ 10-04-2005, 06:26 AM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

The whole "buy it" assumption may be overstepping reality

I think I see a flying squirrel back there in the evergreens

Mine shifts ever so slightly. Maybe a 1/32" or less. I consider that much as normal.

Kinda like this joint, huh?

It's 54 at 6:30 AM here. So I'm thinking zero is a fews weeks away yet. Where do you find this stuff?

Yes, the third one was the high one. I think the barrel was beginning to heat up and string just a bit. It's really hard to say for sure though. The heavy duplex crosshairs on the Leupold totally covered the orange dot, so I just held as close as I could. Mine also has the old style indexed locking cap, but I've got a torque cap on the way. I'll be interested to see if it makes a difference.

Assuming the gun is new, the warranty is the same, regardless of where it was purchased. As far as someone to go back to, it's more thatn likely that the dealer is going to refer you to Benelli customer service. Dealers are getting pretty lame in the on-site support department. Does the $750 include all transfer and shipping fees? Compare apples to apples.

There have been several whinings lately regarding the R1's accuracy, heavy trigger pull, and so on.... Equipment: Benelli R1 30-06 22" Remington Premier Accutip 150 gr. BT Leupold VXII 3-9 X 50mm Heavy Duplex Conditions: Partly cloudy ~70 F 5 mph. crosswind right to left Three shots fired at 30 second intervals. So, to those who have been whining that the trigger pull is prohibitive to accuracy, I say, "Try harder". [ 10-02-2005, 02:21 PM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]
