A pump is always a good choice for a first shotgun, and the Nova is an excellent model. Just work your way up to the 3.5" loads. If you go from .22's to 3.5's in one step, there will be a Nova for sale in Canada in about 46 days

Technically, there is no such model as the "Super Black Eagle I". This term was loosely applied to the original Super Black Eagle after the release of the Super Black Eagle II.

If you are going to shoot steel on geese, and they're out at those ranges, try stepping up to T's or F's. Try tungsten, hevi, or bismuth for two hunts. Keep track of the shots/kills ratio. It's not that expensive when compared to shredding the air with a buch of steel and coming up empty. If you do try faux lead, drop back to BB's.

Unfortunately, you have a need for CS at the same time of the year as many others. To improve your hold times, consider calling at off-peak times such as first thing in the AM, lunchtime, or late afternoon. Holding for 17 minutes and then hanging up is doing nothing to improve on the problem. Get there and STAY there until they answer. Speakerphones are great for this.

I look forward to seeing that pic, my friend! I also want to see some of Uli with retrieved grouse.

Someone, I think wallhanger, posted a good tip on lubing the recoil spring yesterday. Disassemble the gun by removing the barrel and bolt group. Working from the inside of the receiver, use a small rod or screwdriver to press the cap on the recoil spring slightly back into the stock. Apply a few drops of oil. Also make sure the bolt group has been disassembled, cleaned, and re-lubed. I like the Hoppes Elite Gun Cleaner and the Benelli oil similar.

wallhanger54, Was that a ComforTech or standard model? The website shows the ComforTech model without the extension and lists it as 3+1. M1014, He said he opened a box. He didn't say he bought one

Rivers and creeks. It's a topographical map of the area I hunt. How you see a spinal cord is beyond me.
-
I think I just thought of another use for it.
-
You also misspelled *COUGH*, but no one's keeping score. /it's pretty much a landslide victory anyway MWHunter, What loads are you shooting? Has the gun been thoroughly cleaned and lubed? The recoil supressor could contribute to the problem by lessening the ability of the Inertia system to perform properly.

Thanks, garren. I look forward to it. I'm considering one of these for late deer season this year. Keeps the Umphh off the shoulder.

Depends on the price, but I could see going $200 for stock and forearm. Otherwise I'll wait for Ramline
-
Ok... $210, but that's it. I figure I can use it as a boat paddle.

Porting will make it really loud, but it will reduce muzzle climb. Did you know that the sighting plane on a 24" pump is about the same as it on a 28" o/u? The longer receiver accounts for the difference. With today's modern chokes and propellants, barrel length matters a lot less than it used to. However, if your heart's set on the longer barrel, they can be had. This site shows a 26" nova barrel as an accessory. You may also find them on ebay, gunbroker.com, auctionarms.com, and other such sites from time to time.
-
A ton of grief! Misfires, hangs up, won't shoot straight. Instantly rusts when taken outside. Shells drop out of the magazine at random. The barrel will fly off sometimes too. Kicks like a mule that's been in Barry Bonds' medicine cabinet! I'll give you $200 for it, just because I feel sorry for you. But you have to pay the shipping.

...and in case any of you feckers read this and assume I'm some old and busted feeble old man, you are wrong. I have a genetic pre-disposition to early (46) heart disease, and as soon as this problem is fixed, I'll be back kicking your arses in the blinds and on the range!

Garren, Yes. 10-31-05. 3X Bypass. I won't be shooting my R1 for a while after this weekend.

I was thinking someone on here had said that Benelli was voluntarily halting the imports while things get sorted. It's better sometimes to err on the side of caution. I don't know... maybe I dreamed it. [ 10-25-2005, 10:19 AM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

Thanks! I just ordered some 165 grain 30-06. I've been meaning to try them in my R1. Can't beat the prices. Hopefully, I'll get them before this weekend and can try them before I go under the knife. [ 10-25-2005, 10:30 AM: Message edited by: tucker301 ]

A little bird tells me that there are no currently available Montes using Crio.... yet.
-
Any visible differences between the new barrel and the original? Did you pull the bolt back slightly to allow the barrel to go back?
-
The only fouling that would affect accuracy would be in the barrel, but hopefully it will cycle correctly now. Never had a problem with mine, so I'm not sure. Mine likes the Remington Accutip 150's. I tried Win., Federal, and PMC with less than favorable results. Agree on the trigger travel, and the safety mech. Too many things adding undue pull weight in there. Thanks for the encouraging words. I just want it to be over so I can start counting days in a more positive way.
