    oops

I wonder which model Benelli you have?
  2. That's a tough situation. I imagine there aren't too many ducks around Phoenix and LA, except for parks and golf courses. I hope you get some breaks and the chance to do some hunting.
  3. We had a good early split opener. Number 10 was knocked down, but we were unable to recover him (drake woodie). Thought the dog had it on the other side of the creek, but she didn't come back with it and a ground and water search turned up nothing. I hate to lose one, but it happens.
  4. Wadding stripes.
  5. I'd go with the Beretta if it's to be a clays gun. There will be less perceived recoil and not problems with light loads.
  6. You can pick them up on ebay and gunbroker sometimes too.
  7. Closed for me.
  8. Wildfowler, thanks for the contribution. Our first general duck split opens here Oct. 9th - 11th. I'm hoping to go out all three days.
  9. If I had seen just the head and face I would have guessed chocolate lab. I'm more used to seeing the full-body speckle on GSP's. 'course, I don't see a lot of GSP's.
  10. sdk, What kind of dog is that? Is this Ulee (sp?)?
  11. Blued and black oxide finished metal surfaces should be oiled and wiped down to provide a protective barrier against oxidation from typical handling, transporting and storage. No need to leave it wet, just apply a few drops and wipe it down.
  12. I usually go barefooted until the first frost. Then I switch to Crocs
  13. Nice one!
  14. Sometimes you have just enough time to grab your essential gear and spring into action. When this happens, it's important to prioritize your equipment. Obviously, the death mask ranks higher than do the pants. Thanks to M1014 for letting me use his myspace pics :=)
  15. If I'm reading correctly, you are more concerned with the smoother swings and faster second target acquisition associated with a heavier gun than you are with felt recoil. That being the case, adding some weight to the Ultralight may give you some benefit on the clays, but you'll also want to take balance into account. Since the UL is an Inertia-operated system you'll also want to insure that the system will still cycle properly with the added weight. Mercury recoil reducers are available in several forms. One that adds weight to the front end can be screwed on in place of the magazine cap. Others fit within the magazine, replacing the factory limiter plug, and tend to add weight to the middle section, affecting overall balance a little less. Finally, you could add weight in the buttstock area. A mass-produced mercury reducer for the buttstock is not available for the UL, but it wouldn't be too difficult to adapt and modify something to work. Also, your overall build and fitness level are to be considered. If you are more of a ballerina type, then a 6 lb. gun may easily equate to an 8 lb. gun in the hands of man of average build, so in that respect, the weight may feel adequate enough to maintain a smooth swing. If you are built more like Janet Reno, then you'll probably find the Ultra Light to feel indeed light as a feather. http://www.mercuryrecoil.com/
  16. I guess I deserved that one, you old coot.
  17. Art and beauty are very subjective matters. What's appealing to one may well be repulsive to others. You did an effective job.

Shouldn't this be on the Stoeger forum?

Is that the men's room at the Minneapolis airport?
  20. I replaced the factory striker spring in my S&W with a Wolff model and it works great. Oh, you mean in a Benelli? No.
  21. That's great news! Glad to hear a happy ending for a change.
  22. The pump gun with the same basic feel of the M4 will be the M3. It's convertible from semi-automatic to pump. Traditional shotguns stocks come in two flavors. English stocks have a straight grip, whereas most others feature a pistol grip. The English grip was designed to be used on two trigger guns to allow the shooter to smoothly transition from the front trigger to the rear trigger. With the advent of single trigger guns, the pistol grip provided extra support and stability at the rear of the gun. Tactical grips such as the Benelli SteadyGrip are variations of the traditional pistol grip. The vertical grips attached to the forearm of some AR's and pump shotguns are commonly referred to as battle grips.
  23. Great pic! No Sunday hunting here, and at 98 degrees I wouldn't have gone anyway.
  24. Never heard of anyone doing it, but I see no reason for it to not be OK to do. Do you have particularly broad shoulders? Just curious as to why you would need the extra cast.
  25. Yup, here's a picture from the Franchi museum in Urbino.
