  1. Plastic, and no it should last you a lifetime. I have over 12000 rounds through mine after hunting and sporting clays over a 2 year span. I would average about 3 flats a month for shooting clays games. Mike
  2. I hate to put it this way, but great job and you have every right to be verry proud of their accomplishments. Mike

    which choke?

I would start with the MOD as that would give you the best coverage in Sporting Clays and trap. If you were just going to shoot skeet then I would put in the IC. Mike
  4. Obviously you have not seen what some clay shooting sports have paid for their custom fit gun stocks. I just spent $2200.00 for a new butt stock on my sporting clays gun. I have seen others that were well over $5000.00 for some really nice wood. I am actually thinnking about having a new butt stock done for my M2. To each his own. Mike
  5. More like Spotted Owl. Just kidding. We see them out here every once in a while. I actually saw some up on the Columbia River by Mattawa one year. Mike
  6. How does it shoot with the factory Chokes? If they shoot fine then the problem is your pure gold chokes. Mike
  7. You might also want ot check with Seminole Gun works. They have what they call their SG2 system. It is basically a Beretta Mobile choke backbored and the barell rethreadded for their SG2 chokes. Mike
  8. Thanks for the update on this Tucker. I had heard about the appeal and glad that they made the correct ruling. Mike
  9. Thanks for the update. Glad all is well with your buddy. Mike
  10. AS Tucker said great report. As a rule I take my M2 apart and remove, clean and inspect the recoil spring and plunger every year after hunting season. It is not to difficult. You have listed most of the instructions on how to do it. The one thing that I do when I take it apart is to insert a banana plug into the small hole to keep the spring compressed during dissassembly and assembly. For those of you not familliar with this type of plug, it is what is on the end of meter leads for volt meters. They wont hurt the gun and are pretty cheap and easy to find at Radio Shack. I use a 410 swab to clean out the tube and to oil it as well. Then use a light oilling of the spring with a patch and reassemble. This only adds about 20 minutes to the total cleaning time for the gun, Mike
  11. If you take the recoil pad off you will see this part inside the but stock. If it is like my M2 all you should need to do is to remove the one that is in there pull it straight out and look at it. Then turn it over and re insert it. Mike
  12. I also have a Benelli M2 and it shoots quite well for me. With the factory mod choke my gun shoots pretty flat. Before you go out and attempt to find the "perfect choke" you might want to check your gun mount and fit. Have you tried adjusting the fit using the shims? Tha would be the first place to try. Then work on your mount to get it consistant and good. These are both freebies that you can check etc. At 20 to 50 per choke you could quickly end up with a collection of chokes taht you do not like. Mike
  13. I'll also have to ask why?? While we are at it why don't they offer a ported barrel like the Super sports and Cordoba? If your heart is set on having a mid-bead then order the SBEII one and have your favorite gun smith install one.

    Benelli vest

Go to Bob Allen and look at their vests, you will find similarly and higher priced vests. Mike
  15. I havge a set of Briley's X2 Extended chokes for my M2 and Briley says the same do not shot other than lead through chokes tighter than MOD. They went a little farther and said that heavy shot was ok in an IMOD though. Those funny little birds are quite tasy when smoked with hickory or mesquite. But you are correct in that it makes the chokes easier to change and to also easier to know what choke you have installed at clays shoots. As to patterning better, that is a push. Some say yes others are not so sure. Keep up the good work Tucker. Mike

    12ga MII ????

Nope. If you look at the attached link, you will see that they have their threads in different locations etc. http://www.benelliusa.com/firearms/partsAccessoriesChokes.tpl Mike
  17. You ought to see my M2 after 12k rounds. The edge of the ejection port is pretty shinny where the shells get ejected. Mike
  18. Check out Wenigs. THey have various different grades of wood and such. http://www.wenig.com I think that is the correct link. Mike
  19. Is this an SBE or SBE II? In either case you could use the supplied shims to adjust the point of impact once you get your mount correct. You never mentioned that in your rants. Heck my M2 was way out in left field until I adjusted the cast and drop. Now it shoots pretty flat. But it took a fair amount of work on my part of patterning and to get a good move and mount. But since you are so dead set against this gun, maybe a simpler design is what you need. Just as a point of reference have you should check out the horror stories about Brownings service in the Browning Lovers section. The grass is not always greener. mike
  20. My M2 ia not a lefty but it also has done fine on geese as well as upland birds. Mike
  21. You ought to see my 870 Wingmaster that I have had since the 60's Consider those stains love marks or character Mike Mike
  22. You are about 1/3 of the way to the a couple of the best stock fitters around. They are in Polson Montana. They were recomended to me by several others and they are doing a but stock for my Beretta 682 Gold Sporting. After I get it back I will probably be having them do my M2 as well. They dont just bend things around. They will get it close in the shop then out to hte patterning board then back into the shop etc untill it is right. Here is a link to their web site: http://www.ssplus.biz/about.html Mike
  23. And the rest of us wood be also. The mauals wood be readable as well. Mike
  24. Nice job Tucker. Now is this a resume for Benelli to hire you to do their manuals? If so they better pay you in cash, if they paid you in shotguns they wood go broke Have a good week and bird hunting. Mike
