  1. That is where I bought fastfire. Have access to a place callled Henry's(wholesale) and it is $1. more than natchezss.
  2. I have used quite a few red dots. Burris FastFire is a little above you price quote but it adjust to light prefect and is super small. I have one on my bow and will be using next week and have a better test. Burris also makes a sight that fits between reciever and stock, could be good. I shoot SBE's and have slug barrels with scopes/ buckshot barrels making this kind of mount no good for me. I also have two Eotech's and I am not impressed for the money.
  3. Unobtanium, I agree. There is a term "Stop the action"or shoot and keep shooting until lack of offensive movement. Small buckshot is the best bet. I have shot many deer w/slugs and they never reacted, just ran until death. The deer shot w/buckshot go down and, given the chance, often get up. Humans are harder to figure(we are predators) but every mind is different. If a predator is after me I am going to stop the action.
  4. It is just me and the Misses,( still sleeping in same bedroom). I have been thru alot, adrenaline is a post event for me. You live out of range, so be happy. Let me finsih by telling you a large person on good drugs might not stop w/one shot a buckshot.
  5. If someone is invading my house(probably on drugs), I want to stop him(dead). Give me buck shot, nothing less.
  6. I have owned SBE's for over 20 yrs. I have shot & did minor work on more than 30 SBE's(for friends). I have seen problems but none have had to be sent for repairs. The problems have been dirt or lack of lube. I have owned other autos and they do not compare with SBE. You can complain but I do not think you can find a better auto. And last, you find the perfect forum about any subject you will probably be the only one on that forum.
  7. We are talking slugs here, not shot.
  8. I have tried Patternmaster(same principle as WadWizard) and have seen great improvement in some guns. Tried the on 3 different Brownings and it worked great in one. Tried on three SBE's and worked great on two. They are refundable so my advice is it is worth trying. If the gun likes the tube 50yrds will be more than "useful".
  9. Try http://www.shotgunbroker.com/Barrels.html -they are listing a 28" LH SBE(does not say I or II). I bought a SBE I barrel NIB from them for $300.
  10. I recieved a thread shaping tool w/my SBE's. If it is bent only at threads it might be ok if threads are shaped and tube is replaced. Might try other tubes after shaping. If barrel is bad I might be interested in buying bad barrel for reciever and mag. lug.
  11. The Burris and the Docter both have auto brightness, a nice touch. I hunt and have aimpoint, eotech and burris, the auto brightness takes away the adjusting as daylight changes. The eotech is the hardest to see in bright light.
  12. Lightfield 2 3/4 shoot well but do not have distance of newer sabot slugs. The Federal vital shok 2 3/4(barnes bullets) are very accurate and work well on deer. That barrel will shoot any modern sabot well but barnes bullets are my favorite. I have had and/or shot about 10 of these barrels and all shot great.
  13. If you close the bolt slow, then wiggle the bolt handle sideways it will rotate and be seated properly. It still may be bonced loose but it will be seated correctly and be fine if gun is not banged around. Have been doing this for 20 years deer hunting, always fires.
  14. I have had them both. The Extrema II feels bigger, making it feel less comfortable. I picked the feel of SBE over recoil. Only own SBE's now.
  15. 3.5 " slugs just have more wads to fill the space. With modern slugs/powder a longer case is not needed. Browning makes a 3.5" barrel because they stamp the reciever w/3.5" and therefore either had to make no slug barrel or a 3.5". SBE's do not have reciever markings, so they make a 3" barrel as results are better w/less throat. Tar-hunt makes custom slug guns and do not make a 3.5",
  16. No they do not. All a 3 1/2" shell does is have more fillers. The only company(I know of) that makes a 3 1/2" slug barrel is Browning. They stamp 3 1/2" on the reciever and had a choice of making no slug barrel or matching the reciever stamp.
  17. I have had Benelli, Berretta & Browning barrels worked on many ways and never saw and improvement. This was w/buckshot 90% of the time. I have seen greater differences between two guns of same make/model than any impovements from custom work.

    Slugs /Scope

But what scope are we buying? Nikon is still a nice scope and a value for the $(or yen).

    Slugs /Scope

I have a Swarovski 3 -12x56 on one gun and a Nikon 5.5-16 on the other. If you are looking for a real good mid priced scope look at Nikon. Leupold scopes I have owned have had a glare at dusk and are overpriced.

    Foregrip play

The forearm for a slug barrel fits loose on a shot barrel. Your might have a slug barrel forearm.? It should not effect operation or accuracy of weapon. If you change forearm from gun to gun the slack moves w/forearm?
  21. The SBE is worse than the Browning and Beretta, but not by much. Different 3 1/2" loads are were the problem begins. Try some Winchester hi-performance 00 buck(15 pellets) and you will learn the meaning of kick in any gun. The 3 1/2" guns have a max press. of 14,000lup and all other 12 ga. are 11,000lup. If the 3 1/2" shell in not maxed it is not bad.

    bore lenghth

Might this be someone having fun(troll)?????????????????
  23. I also bought a NIB SBE II and would not pay extra for camo. I wonder if any aftermarket camo holds up better?
  24. I bought a SBE(lefthand) that is about three years old, like new for $700 at a gun dealer. Left hand lowers price and dealer stated everyone wants camo.
  25. The SBE II has a new magazine ring. The brazing area is about twice as long. A SBE II forearm will fit a SBE, but the SBE will not fit the SBE II because of the upgade. The forearm can be upgraded(cut plastic). I wonder if they upgrade any problem SBE's when returned seperated? Also I assume they braze as any other method would damage barrel.
