a friend of mine just got his wife a Charles Daly 20. recoil was moderate till we got it broke in. now its pretty sweet. for $279.00 for an automatic, its hard to beat. comes with 3 choke tubes, and i would put mt C/D 12 up against any auto on the market. it doesnt kick as hard as my Franchi AL-48. ive had it 5yrs without a single problem.and its had 1000s of rounds run through it. i posted a pick of it on the franchi forum. under "my babies". now my Q is,.... has she shot anything? and what does SHE want??

D.E. 50s arent so bad. its like a hot 44 mag. try a 500 S&W. im reading an article on the 577, and it failed to drop a bull elephant from less than 50 away. the author said he turned and ran. it took a follow up with a 600 to do the job. and no folks, a 12 0r 10ga slug wouldnt do it either. the key on elephants is "penatration" . it says in the article that to get an actual "brain shot" on an elephant, he must have his head at somewhat of a downward angle to achieve the penatration necessary to drop him, vs a glancing blow.

opening day , i use an i/c or modified.a few weeks into the season, i go to a full. you know how it is. opening day they come over 25mph 30ft high. later in the season their flying 70mph, 100 in the air.

its all about what you prefer.but that doesnt make it best for everyone.

pretty hard to beat ol wally world on shotgun ammo. some times they dont have exactly what you want , if your lookin for something special. academy is not bad either.they tend to have a little wider variety too.

cool chart, thanks. i have shot 458 win mags, 460 weatherbys mags, 375 h&h, and several other big bore guns. i got to shoot a 10ga the other day for the first time. 3 1/2", 4 1/2 drams eq, 2oz of #6 shot. i thought this is gonna leave a mark. IT DID. then the guy showed me an 8ga single shot breakover,that belong to his granddad. ill just watch YOU shoot that one:D, says he cant find ammo for it

try several on a range first. then let us know what you found out. its better to try it on the range first. so if it fails you didnt lose a trophy buck.

thats wild. can you imagine shooting that 8ga?? i heard my dad talk of these monsters [punt guns] long ago, but never saw the shells.but that 8ga is a breakover single shot.

i myself dont care for seeing one person down another over a question they have asked. it tends to lower my opinion of that person as well as my respect. we are not born with knowledge, we aquire it over time. either through some one else or personal experience. just remember that at some point in life someone answered our "stupid" questions too!!

you are so right. my wifes 410 is a strange one. its a Fausti o/u, with 26" barrels top barrel is i/c, bottom barrel is imp/mod. ive never seen that configuration on a fixed choke o/u before. and she is deadly with it.
