  1. lol 2 funny. get you some blue camo..
  2. to each, his own. i hope you arent one of my nieghbors.
  3. i was very suprised, and i did miss it twice.
  4. i have killed close to 300 ducks in my life.all but maybe 3 were brought down with #6 or #7 1/2. fact is larger shot carries a bit more energy at the same range as small shot, but not because it faster, its because its heavier. and larger shot is in fact slowed down more by wind resistance due the larger surface area.not to mention #7 1/2 has nearly twice as many pellets in a load of 1 1/4oz than #4. if you drop a quarter size and a dime size marble off a 1000 ft building. the dime size marble will reach the bottom first. this is not theory, its fact.but shoot what you like. i do.
  5. i could shoot you sqaure in chest with a 410, with #8 shot, from 30" away and you would not take another step. why dont you just tie a grenade to the front door, or maybe some C4.
  6. you can shoot anybody with a skeet load from 30 feet away, on drugs or not, and stop them DEAD.what are you going do when in an adrenaline frenzied shot of 00 goes through a wall, and you go in back bedroom and your wife or child has been STOPPED DEAD?........BY YOU. and i hope you dont live anywhere near me
  7. just to add to what you said. when your using one type of powder ,say alliant green dot, and you switch to say alliant 2400. the same bushing will weigh powders of different densitys differently.finer powders weigh heavier. so when or if you change to another recipe be sure to weigh the charge. i like hogdon powders too, but i also like alliant green dot [slow burning, produces low pressures, less recoil] and red dot,[high pressures for magnum loads] the colored dots make them easy to identify too. i would say you will always save money reloading even if its only 150-200 rnds a year. but if your only going to reload 50- 100 rnds a year , dont go buy a $450.00 press. a mec 600jr runs around $130.00 and works very well.thats better for a beginer. less to try to keep up with is a good thing. and i agree with tim, NEVER UP THE CHARGE, thinking your going to invent a new COOL load. the only thing you will accomplish is the purchase of a COOl new seeing eye dog.STICK TO THE DATA have fun and be safe!!
  8. i keep a skeet tube in my 12ga, even at that the pattern is no bigger than a soccer ball at 10 yds. but thats with a 28" barrel too.
  9. ever nick the intestine of a deer while dressing it???it doesnt compare with human blood &feces.
  10. whats really funny, is how a lot of people insist on 0,00,000, buckshot and slugs .if they ever HAVE to shot someone with it , they will spew thier toe nails up when they see the results. and likely end up having to move away from thier home to escape from the memory. take my word for it, its not like they depict it in the movies.not even close.
  11. fausti 410 o/u 26" i/c & mod barrels.
  12. i have taken ducks out the air with 7 1/2s that my friends blew gobs of feathers out of with #4s. when we cleaned them there were few to no #4 pellets in the carcass of the duck. try it , you will be amazed.
  13. cleaning the barrel of a shotgun prevents pits in the barrel by removing powder deposits, and moisture. burnt gun powder creates acids that eat at your barrel. there not strong like say boric acid, or sulfuric acids, but are there just the same. it may take years to notice any visible damage, but its still a good idea to clean it as you would any thing else. oh yea, and dont forget the steel wool for the rust.
  14. a lot of it depends on what your loading too. you save quit a bit when reloading 410,28, and 20ga. 410s are $6.00- $7.50 a box. and you can load a crap load of shells out of a lb of powder & 30lb sack of shot. 20s and 28s too.
  15. my wife found my mec 600jr in the dumpster at our apartment. and it was complete.
  16. i shot slugs in my wifes 410 at a 1 gal paint can at 75 yds, i hit it pretty solid 3 out of 5 times with just the shotgun bead.
  17. it would if you were close enough. all it takes is 1 pellet in the right place.
  18. believe it or not i have found that 7 1/2 & 6 shot work very well on ducks. it seem to penatrate the thick feathers a little better than the larger shot.
  19. yea O.C. i caught that later. hmmm wonder what a quaker would taste like??? bet it would be heck gettin em in the pot.
  20. aw heck. get er a 10ga and watch er spin like a top....just dont give er more than 1 shell. the second would likly be aimed at you:D
  21. i have noticed that a LOT of gunbrokers listings are pawn & gun shops.
  22. this is true.your time is the biggest factor.a mec 600jr like i have takes around 1-1/2 hours to reload 100 rounds. a progressive loader is a lot faster and a whole lot more expensive as well.one that basicly completes a round every time you pull the handle down. i look at as more of a hobby anymore, than saving money. its something you have to enjoy doing or you will get tired of it quik. ive seen a lot of folks spend big money on reloaders, and get burnt out it in a year.hers the math as best i can figure...30lbs of shot $45.00- reloads 480 rnds @ 1oz, 1lb of powder$20.00-will load around 500rnds give or take,250wads$8.00 x 2, 100 primers $3.50 x5. that comes to $98.50 for 500rnds. roughly-$3.94 per box or $15.76 per 100. prices on components may vary some but this the best break down i give you. kinda makes you want go to wally world, huh??
  23. contrary to poular belief, porting doesnt do that much to reduce recoil. its been proven by guns&ammo.
  24. this is true.even reloading is higher than a cats a**. wish i had bought an ar-30.
