  1. believe what you like, ive been using 7 1/2 for years.no problems downing mallards. i will say i dont think it would work that well on turkeys or geese, due to lack of penatration. i dont know ive never hunted geese. but have got a few turkey with #6 shot.
  2. at a normal distance of 10-30 ft, its not going to matter much what choke you use. there is not going to be a "pattern" at that range. your "pattern" is going to be about 3-8".
  3. to answer the original question.... get you a 10ga Greener double barrel coach gun. load it with Remington Express nitro magnum 3 1/2" 000 buck shot, file the trigger seer on the second barrel so that when you pull the trigger it fires both barrels. cause you never know when the thug that cant get $50.00 for some dope might be wearing Dragon Skin.[$5500.00-$7000.00]
  4. left to right,9mm 147gr JHP,357mag 180gr JHP-XTP,44mag 300grJHP-XTP.
  5. i guess you didnt see the "50gr JHP". the bullet went clean throught the deer. so did the 30-30. ive only heart shot one deer, i didnt care for raking out chunks of heart and lungs. i never heart shoot a deer anymore. i shoot for the middle of the neck. 2x6s may not simulate a human body, but i like seeing what different ammo does as far as damage & penatration. and the 9mm 147gr jhp, do almost as much damage as the 180gr 357.
  6. im a truck driver. i got pulled over a few weeks ago by DPS/DOT, and wieghed. i was over wieght ,so he had me set in his dodge pickup while he wrote my company the ticket, when i looked up i noticed a rack on the ceiling. it had a DPMS panther 308,a Ruger mini-14, and a Remington 870.i asked if he was getting ready for a war. he said you never know.
  7. energy is the measure if impact that the bullet delivers.its kind of like sitting in the middle of the road in your pick up truck and getting t-boned by a motorcycle @ 90mph[light bullet], or a tractor trailer @ 60mph [heavy bullet]. what do you think is going to do the most damage? i know that a corny analigy, but the physics are basicly the same. i have seen a friend of mine heart shoot a deer with a 50gr jhp 22-250 [4000fps,1603ftlbs of energy]and the deer ran for nearly a 1/4 mile. i had heard of this but never seen it. my brother in law shot a deer with a 30-30 150gr sp [2390fps, 1900ftlbs of energy]and the deer just feel over. i hunt with a 7mm mag 154gr jhp [3000 fps, 3150ftlbs of energy. ive never had to track a deer. Novaking, try winchester 147gr jhp personal protection rounds in your 9mm. they do almost as much damage as my 357 with 180gr xtp,s. i test them on a stack of 2x6s, and they are wicked.
  8. you should have got 2 and sold one to a friend for what you paid for both.
  9. Texas Dept of Public Saftey uses Remington 870s.
  10. maybe they bought the more expensive one so they could pawn it for more.
  11. i use my Charles Daly as a fly swatter......sure leaves some big holes in the furniture though.
  12. a friend of mine got himself a Charles Daly about 5weeks ago.went to the store and bought several boxs of Remington 3" mag 00 buck. he shot the first box with no problems. on the second box, the first round got lodged in the ejector port. he wrestled it out. the same thing happened on the second shot out of that box.i was doing my own thing with my 44 so i really wasnt paying attention to him. but i did notice that these sounded a lot louder than the box before. i went to where he was and looked at the box and noticed this on the box...."3 1/2 magnum". not good. the 3rd box was right so he busted off another shot.it jammed, the ejector pin was now broke. he called KBI [the manufacturer], and told them what he did and told them to let him know what the cost of repair would be. they sent him a postage paid UPS label to send it back to them. he got it back 3 weeks later, not only did they replace the ejector pin, but also put a new barrel on it at no cost to him just to be safe. now there are not many places that would do that knowing it was your own "dumb mistake". i would have to say FANTASTIC CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
  13. im not sure if you can post a want ad or not, but ceck out www.auctionarms.com and www.gunbroker.com have your check book ready. big $$$$ there.
  14. anything that works "AS GOOD" for less $$ is always a big plus in my book. ive never been one to buy a "NAME".
  15. the ballistics data is very informative to say the least. but what you look at more than velocity is energy.note that the energy of the sig is 389ftlbs @ 50yds, while the 357 magnum is 441ftlbs @ 50yds. the 44 mag w/240gr is 837ftlbs@ 50yds. i also noticed on that very site that personal protection rounds seem to have far less velocity, and energy than that of hunting ammo.why do you suppose that is? less penatration maybe? i have looked all over the net for any actual ballistics test data on extreme shock rounds and cant find any.like i said i have my 44 by the bed, if that many people say its junk , i wont use it unless i can find ballistics that prove other wise.
  16. ive ran 250 rnds of it. let me ask you .how many have you shot of it? do you know anyone who has? do you know anything about but what youve read? i never said anything about making my house a bank vault. i knew your own "ego" wouldnt allow you to even remotly admit that it would be a plus. the door i bought had a video of police trying to break one down with a 225lb 2 person battering ram. after 31 strikes it gave up.that gives me ample time to prepare. and just to set the record straight a 357 sig is compareable to a 9mm, not a 357 mag. 357 sig 147gr hornady xtp=1100-1200 fbs, 9mm=1000fps w/same bullet, 357 mag hornady 158gr hornady xtp= 1510-1590fps and energy ft lbs is almost double. but just to make you feel better ill load my 44 mag with 300gr hornady xtp hollow points, and sleep with my armalite ar-50 under my pillow for full 6 block penatration..... or are they both a scam too???
  17. it has no actual sights, just a double bead.really didnt think i would hit it at all.
  18. let us know what you end up with, and how she likes it.
  19. same with my $279.00 Charles Daly, i went shooting skeet all this summer with out cleaning it, just to see how dirty it has to get before it quits cycling. its been to 14 shoots, had around 150-300 rounds run through it on every outing, and still shoots like a dream. im gona break down before dove season and clean it.yea i know..... im an a** for treating it like that.
  20. www.natchezss.com has Burris, fastfire for $170.00. is that any less than what you payed??
  21. try www.sportsmansguide.com they carry all kinds of stuff like that. im not sure they have what your looking for.
  22. Welcome to forum rob. im John from Ft. Worth,TX. home of the F-16.
  23. just a thought to leave you with. if we spent as much money on fortifying our homes as we do on home defense firearms we wouldnt need them ,would we? i have since spent several thousand dollars on window bars that can be opened from the inside and not the outside, and steel doors and door jams. because what scared me most was the fact the man gained entry to my home with one good kick.
