  1. i have a $279.00 Charles Daly field hunter 12ga. auto, and a $575.00 Franchi AL-48 20ga , and i would be hard pressed to pick what would be my favorite. as far as "affordable" O/Us. Mossberg Silver Reserve or Ruger Red Label cant be beat for the price.
  2. same here. ive shot 7.5s at about everything, turkey, pheasants, ducks, quail, dove, and the occasional trespasser, with no problems.i think some times switching shot size repeatedly only serves to keep you screwed up. pick an all purpose size that you like and stick with it.youll be amazed at how you will improve. each size shot patterns different, and you cant say on a visual pattern if its constantly changing. p.s. yea them 3" mags do pack a whallop, dont they.
  3. i know this is going to ruffle feathers, but i dont think thats worth a crap if the model gun your talking about is that finiky. what if you were to need it, in a life or death situation??
  4. my 2 cents.......anything loaded, that your comfortable with. the jacking noise of any pump shotgun would be very discouraging to me if i were in your house with the lights out. it would make my blood run very cold. and i would rather not shoot someone unless it was a "have to" thing.
  5. anyone ever priced a John Rigby??? try $52,000.00-$65,000.00 decorated. $20,000.00 plain jane.
  6. Charles Dalys are made in Turkey. they have chrome lined barrels. they cost $279.00 @ any wal-mart. they also come with a life time warranty.
  7. REALLY???????? bring a sawed off shot gun into texas, and see if you dont end up in prison fighting for your virginity. i have seen far too many people arrested and prosecuted to risk it. as i said state and local laws can make laws more strict, but not less. i said STATE POLICE, not dps, there is a big difference.
  8. i think they would prefer high gloss nickel or satin. you know, for high visability.
  9. i talked to the Texas State Police.they seem to have a different veiw on this subject.by federal law you may saw a barrel off. by Texas law, you may NOT. in Texas most of the weapons you name reqiure an FFL to legaly own. and im not about to stake 25 yrs of my freedom on a federal agent that does not live here.
  10. there are not many quail around ft worth due to the fireants.we have to go out west where its sandy for them.
  11. there are a bundle of manufacturers for really nice o/u,s. Browning,Ruger,Mossberg,Franchi, and the list goes on. they are all about the same except for price. a friend of mine got a really nice Mossberg Silver Reserve for $600.00 brand new. and must say i was impressed with it, on price and performance.
  12. most of this just depends on where you buy them. like at a gun shop, like elk castle everything is $10 dollars higher than say cabellas , or cheaperthandirt. and dont the later name fool you. they are very high on some things. i prefer to address them as higher than a cats a**.

  14. its nothing like dressing a duck or dove. you either have to skin it, or steam it to get the feathers to come out. its quite a chore.
  15. who has?? i dont think ive ever shot a duck at less than 40-50yds.
  16. its also kind of a cheat.your comparing a modified benelli against a modified remington. the benelli is acually considered an improved modified. its like getting in a car race and telling your opponent you have 300hp, when you in fact have 500hp. at least thats how i see it.
  17. local & state laws may supercede federal laws. bring a silencer into texas, and get caught with it. by texas law you can NOT saw off any part of a firearm. barrel or stock. the only legal way to own an sbs or aow, is if it was produced as such. texas laws says a shotgun barrel can be no shorter than 18", and must be 24" overall. texas also passed a law this year where you can legally carry a hand gun in your vehicle without a license. but if you drive into dallas or ft worth and get caught with it, they will take you to jail. now i ask you, is that right???
  18. thats my point. kinda like looking through a kalidascope.
  19. i think what your seeing is a refection of the end of the barrel. i looked down the chamber end of my charles daly & franchi, and i believe thats what your seeing. if you wooble the barrel a little, youll see those "ribs" moving.
  20. i hunt southern oklahoma from time to time. i had pretty good luck with remington express duck & pheasent loads. 3 3/4 drams, 1 1/4 #7.5
  21. i was always under the impression that the rib of a shotgun was to help displace heat. hince ventilated rib. i remove the sight bead on every shot gun i own. i do better with out it.
  22. i have all 10. there is only about .0003 of an inch difference between them.
