  1. were supposed to see lows in the 17-19 degree range the 22nd.
  2. i agree, and when your looking at a nice 8-12 point buck, you could be carring a howitzer, and not even notice the recoil. i shoot a 7mm mag, its torture on the range, but ive never noticed the recoil when bagging a deer.
  3. if you shoot federal, remington, or winchester ammo, what difference does it make what store it came out of??
  4. ok...........if it makes no diff at all, tell me why, why are they out there with a gun that looks like its got a 4ft piece of pipe on it????? why not a 20 or 22 inch barrel?? i ll be the first to admit, maybe under laboratory conditions. it makes no diff at all. but in my back yard,it does make a difference. after all, i dont hunt in thier lab. i have tryed this over and over with so many guns i cant even remember them all. and ive yet to see a short barrel deliver as "tight" a pattern as a long one.and until some one comes to my house with a gun and proves different, im gona stick to my belief.

  6. i just wanted to take minute to wish everybody a merry christmas and a happy 2009. my your lives be filled with prosparity, and joy.may you your ammo bag and you freezer be full. all the best wishes from me and my family to you and yours. pray for our troops over seas. and god bless you all.
  7. there not a damn thing wrong with a charles daly. ill put it up against anything you can name.and have . a lot of browning, benelli, remington toting friends bought one after they went up against mine in the 5 stand range, and they love em. the only problem ive had is i accidently stuck a 3.5 mag in it once, andit broke the ejector. they sent me a shipping label and fixed it at no charge. lifetime warrenty, 279 bucks.
  8. this weekend im going to use a 2 3/4"magnum in the short barrel and a skeet load in the long barrel. and if i can get the pic to post you will see that the longer barrel patterns better even against the hotter load of the short barrel. gun manufacturers will tell you it makes no difference.why? i do not know. granted, it was not like the 24" made a 60" pattern, and the 30 " made a 12" pattern. but it did make about a 7-8" tighter pattern, which makes for a lot dencer pattern.there are goobs of proffesional skee ,trap shooters that will tell you length does make difference. and about your idea above, the answer is NO. you will end up with the gun in your face.this is why there are longer barrels, so you dont have to risk your eye site to greater ranges.we have shot them through chronagraphs to check the velocities of the to and there was only 18fps faster out of the 30". not enough to mention.
  9. well your intitle to believe what you hear. ill believe what ive seen and done to check it out for myself.
  10. what people seem to not understand, is that "tactical shotguns" were origanaly desighned for military use, and law enforcment. for they guys coming out of a bank, with full auto weapons blazing. hence the word "TACTICAL". i dont know about other states but these people that say empty the clip, are very misinformed. in texas if you shoot once , it self defence, if you shoot after your intruder has hit the floor, its classified murder. i have been through this red tape, and believe me, you dont want it. but make no mistake about it i more than ready to defend my family and property.but i have taken a lot extra measures to prevent the entry of an intruder to start with. if hes getting in my house, he has his work cut out for him.
  11. i have some remington 12 ga 3" magnums w/ 15 pellets. i dont care for them. i guess they would be alright for that ocasional charging rhino.
  12. try a Charles Daly field hunter auto. they are fairly light, and almost no recoil with light loads. the best thing is you can get one at wally world for $279.00:D no adjustment needed unless you go to magnum ammo.
  13. i would highly recommend leaving it in when cleaning the barrel. not only are you killing 2 birds with 1 stone your protecting some very very fine threads, that could be damaged while cleaning with it out.then once you have cleaned the barrel, remove it and clean the outside of the choke and threads in barrel.
  14. i would like to take your friend hunting with me. he can shoot what ever he wants. ill use an auto 410, and kill twice the birds in half the time. granted you might lose 1lb of pressure from an auto. but if it makes the difference in him getting his game or not, i would say he is just in need of an excuse for being a sorry shot to start with. i used have a friend that would blame his ammo on his missing. one day dove hunting he started this, i went over to him, my carring 10 birds to his 3. and took his WW game loads, and gave him my federal game loads.needless to say he did not improve. but he did get mad and leave.
  15. and a water hose is hardly a valid comparison, unless you fillit with lit gasoline.
  16. ive tryed this. using an 870 w/24", and another 870 w/30" barrel. shot 5 times at 5 pieces of white poster board with each gun using the same screw in full choke, at a range of 30 yds. and the proof was in pudding . a 30" inch barrel with the exact same choke, had a very noticeably tighter pattern. but most people will believe what ever thier told vs trying it for them selves. i posted a link in the waterfouling forum some months ago. these guys are shooting birds at an airport at distances of 65-75 yds with shotguns with 40" barrels, using heavy field loads.argue with them that a short barrel will do that. i prefer a 26-28" myself.
  17. well, im not saying you can adjust for it, just that it plays a major roll in the accuracy of the shot. and heavier shot will buck the wind a little better than small will. i have shot 7.5 at everything. toward the last few weeks of the season i go to 6s but not often.
  18. always check their work. i had a taller sight put on my 9mm at a gun shop. when i got there to pick it up, the guy came out with a springfield 1911 45.you know i could have walked out with it for $52.00. sucks being honest.
  19. with b-12, you dont need a brush. it actualy gets dirt out that the brush cant reach.and since its an alcohol base, it dries in about 30 45 seconds.
  20. i agree, you would think this to be a mercenarry forum.
