  1. hey conny, matbe you need to pick up a copy of the october, and november issue of national rifleman. it list several people who are in jail for using "unnecasary deadly force" to protect their home. i shot a man a few years back that was in my home to kill me, thinking i was someone else. its not near as easy to live with as all the killing machines in this forum might think.its real easy to be gung ho, when you have never been in that situation. some of them for killing more than they intended to.such as an inoccent bystaner, neighbor , or family member that went bump in the night.
  2. my Charles Daly kicks less than any 12ga ive ever shot. $279.00 at wally world. including the A-5.
  3. i ve never shot sporting clays, but i do shoot a lot of 5 stand. i love my Charles Daly [heavier=slower], and my Franchi AL-48. lighter= more recoil
  4. as far as wind, direction has as much to with it as anything. if its blowing in your face, lead your target more, if the wind is blowing in the same direction as your target is traveling, then your target is likely moving a little faster than usuall.again lead it more. if its blowing the exact oppisite of your target, then he is going to be moving slower. lead it less. like John Wayne said "windage and elavation":p
  5. lead sleds are not good for your gun. if the recoil is not absorbed into your body, that means that your gun is taking a pounding as well as everything attached to it. Guns & Ammo magazine ran an article on them here a while back, a lot of people responded to with the complaint about them cracking the stock at the comb. they recomend that if you feel you have to use one, use a minimum of weight.
  6. not to be snide, but i would hope so considering the price difference.
  7. nothing , and i mean nothing will strip old oil and powder than berryman b-12 carb cleaner.it doesnt hurt the blue, but DO NOT get it on the furniture [ wood ]. it will peel the varnish right off. i use it on wood to strip it for refinishing.be sure to oil it well afterward too.
  8. 23 degrees in bridgeport, texas last night. humidity was 63%, wind 22 mph out of the n. west.= wind chill of 16 degrees. date 12/06/2008. humidity is what makes it so cold here, it gets into your bones as soon as you get in it. the coldest ive seen it here so far was 7 degrees.
  9. if you use an inside micrometer to check the difference in the 2, you will likely find the kicks choke to be around .0003 - .0005 of an inch tighter. this is generaly the case with all after market chokes.
  10. yea, for mega$$$$$$$$$$$$. academy for AR15,s for less $$$$$. not much diff on ammo too.
  11. some 10 years ago i dubbed ctd, HIGHER THAN A CATS A**. here in ft worth it has stuck like glue. they have always been higher on the better ammo. my wife works for wally world and gets a 10% discount on purchases. they dont carry hydra shock, but they do have plenty of winchester, remington , and federal.
  12. i was never aware that you needed so many different guns to do several different things.hmmmm and all these years i been using one gun for everything.
  13. thats a bit risky in texas. game wardens here have mechanical deer. and they do catch a lot of people. ps: shame on you.
  14. 7mm,165gr ,Hornady ,ballistic tip, boattail. yea i know. it was a shotgun Q. i couldnt resist.

  16. have you tryed sabbot slugs. they are designed for rifled barrels.
  17. i wouldnt recommend anything tighter than modified.
  18. when it happen to me, i had a light on in the living room.not a bright one , but like 40w. that is how i saw the gun in the mans hand, when he rounded the corner of the hall. if you have a light on in a far room and your in the dark racking a shotgun, the only thing youve given away is the fact your armed and prepared to use deadly force.if you do this anyone "frendly" is going to speak up. im not going to whisper to no one but my wife, to call 911. we even have a phone in the closet.
  19. the fireants here in the south has knocked a major dent in the quail population. you have to go west where its sandy to find any..
  20. every deer ive shot has been between 6-7:30 am.gives me plenty of light to dress and butcher it. i hate doing it in the dark.
