Nothing is "wrong" with using them, but you must realize there is a reason why tighter constricted tubes are produced.Experimenting at the patterning board with various choke/load combinations is the only way to find out what is "right" for the type and range of hunting you will be doing. Happy shooting!

Make sure a piece of crud didn't get in the firing pin hole.I've seen pieces of stuff from inside of vest pockets get caught in the primer and get stuffed in there when they'd close the bolt, slowing down the pin in transit sometimes, while letting it fire others.

Check out the Benelli Ultralight. If you want to split the difference and don't mind a pump, the Ithaca model 37 Featherlight in 16ga is hard to beat.

You can use them, but the patterns are sketchy at best usually, because the Flite Control wad gets affected by the bleed-off of gasses that it relies on to open at the optimum distance from the muzzle. -
How did you like it?

I will keep my eyes peeled

Don't expect anything too radical this year. Remember what I said about dealers clearing out their stock.Wait till Jan. and go down to your dealer and see if he wants to wheel and deal.Just don't let it get to close to turkey season,as the demand goes back up and your bargaining chip gets tossed. And remember, historicly Benelli's go up in price every year, just look at the msrp in the previous catalogs. Good Luck.
-
Have you looked at the Ultralight? That thing carries like a dream.
-
As turkey season aproaches, the new stuff will appear. They always wait till after X-mas to let dealer's sell down shelf stock.Benelli makes dealers Qualify,or order lg amounts of product ahead of time,so they have to make sure the old is rotated.
-
Sounds like a square deal! Happy Shooting!
-
Your Benelli dealer will have them.Expect to pay around $150 for it,though.$75 sounds a little sketchy, make sure it's not a Sted-E-Grip the're trying to sell!

Does anyone own or has anyone owned a Mossberg 9200 autoloader from back in the day? If so do or did you like it? I just dug mine out from the back of the safe and started feeling nostalgic.I remember when it was the baddest thing on the block, and all the pro's had one.I couldn't afford it on my lawn mowing earnings,so I just used my Ithaca 37 for everything.A couple of years ago I found the fallen king on a used rack for $188! I was down on it. Now to this day,I get the urge to rock out like it's 1994,and I grab my 9200 and don my Advantage Classic I've collected, and hit the field. The cool part is when done right, you wonder what decade it is in the pic.lol Any others with a 9200 out there?

Where did you buy it at,TMAC?

One by one we will build a 16ga army. Come one and all!
-
I could never figure out why it isn't tha 2nd most popular size.I've killed almost everything under the sun with it,and my frail cousin Kelley shoots one as well. It's like the starter that a 20 is and a thumper that a 12 is!
-
Try looking at Mossberg's 935. You'll get the smash for less cash! I myself would stick with a pump and go with a Supernova, while also fixing the 870 as a back up.

What size shot are you all using for pheasant?

Check out Remington Nitro Pheasant loads in #5 or #6. You'll let the birds get farther away so they are still edible! -
I've always used Truglo products because they are the brightest and best value. I use fiber optics because I don't like the extra weight of a scope, and the loss of depth perception when the turkeys come in bunched up.Check out their website and compare with the others.Consider their choke tubes as well, they are not as hyped as others, but hype doesn't kill gobblers, thick swarms of pellets do! take care.

What is the 16ga scene like over your way,in terms of gun/shell availibility and popularity?I'm looking for an old box(full or empty) of Remington Heavy game loads for my Uncle's game room.
