Just remember,a Benelli will never roll it's eyes at you,or give you a silent stare. It will fit better sleeping on the couch with you too!lol

I have a Savage 17HMR that I bought at the Fall Hunting Classic a couple years ago for $159.That gun impressed me since day one. So much is said about performance, knock down power, and so on,that the fact is sometimes lost that a gun can be just plain fun to shoot.Whatever you choose, have a blast with it.Enjoy it and don't worry about what you could have had for a few dollars more. I have no doubt that the Savage will become an extention of your arm! Take care.

Where are you hunting woodies with that rig?You are talking about wood ducks, right? -
My Benelli Rep told me last week that he will have the catalogs with him when he returns from the show.I should call him tomorrow and have him send cameraphone pics from the pages!LOL Won't be long gang!!!

No problem Tdaniel, good luck with the quest! And with that,we come to the end of another exciting episode of "When choke tubes Attack!"

Welcome to the forum. You will like it here.Everyone has an opinion in here,so keep an open mind.look through some of the threads in the Turkey Hunting section,as the answer you are looking for is in there.Check out the one Quakerboy and Truglo, and etc. Talk to you soon.

This has been a fun excercise for the brain, indeed. Here is a thought.I did not reply to the question about the Strut-Stopper Xtreme, because I figured a person with so much knowledge about bbl ID's and choke compatibility would be able to figure out on his own that a tube called the Strut-Stopper,would be intended for that purpose:stopping things that "strut",like turkeys. If it were intended for "just card shooting"like Mudhen asked,it would be named the Card Stopper Xtreme,or something like that.I doubt that even talking to someone who knows more about chokes would solve your problem Mudhen,as you seem not to be able to take an answer and live with it,without the use of first hand experience. The use of the Jelly Head tube for example.I promoted the use of this tube, and still found resistance.I do thank you for your purchase! I have learned on this interesting journey as a Pro-Staffer,that I will be held to a different standard.Having thought about this too late,I realize I should have picked a more low key user name to fly under the radar. This thread took an interesting turn, and I only hope that tdaniel got the information that he was looking for.Sorry for the rest!
-
The bbl material is different and the tube threads are different. Even if the id is the "same" they are two different guns. One is Cryo-Treated,one is chrome lined. The shot cup encounters two different rides down the drag strip. I haven't said this tube or that tube is the BEST for any gun.I always advocate trial and error.

The Remington gun is a gas-operated gun that distributes the recoil in a different manner than the Inertia-Driven Benelli.
-
Please read the part where the tube in question was for a Supernova.
-
Take that SS tube to a turkey-shoot where they use low brass #8 or #7.5 shot, and make sure you have room in your rig for all those prizes!lol just for kicks I did some mock TS practice and I know some protests will be goin' on round Nov at the Moose Lodge! Take Care

On film a lot of the birds getting run down and having a boot on the throat gets edited out.Consistant 40+yd shots are not impossible or rare, but many factors come into play to develop this. The saying "Practice makes perfect" is true but Perfect Practice is golden. This can be witnessed at the Rhino Choke patterning range in Williston Fl(AKA The Field OF Grind) My goal is not to see how far away I can shoot a bird,I just like knowing that I can without question. When you hunt on your home turf, you can be very conservative as time is on your side. When the cameras are rolling or you are two zipcodes away from home, and you have a plane to catch in the afternoon, and that gobbler is standing at 47yds,knowing feathers will fly is like money in the bank. It's better for Quaker Boy if I can get him to stand on top of my front bead though!

Unless of course you already have a Jellyhead,as I read later!
-
The Jellyhead is tough to beat.I could lie and say "Truglo all the way!" in every situation, but that's not my style.Once you get sponsored or have factory ties, some folks tend not to believe in what you say. They are cautious of Sellouts.I try to shoot people straight. What works for me might not work for all and vice versa,so first hand experience will always rule the day.I just wanted to make people aware of different options that weren't covered. If you chose the Strut-Stopper,and didn't like it,you could always sell it and get a JH,which is available almost everywhere.
-
The Gobblestopper has been around. On my '08 list,it is still in the lineup(upc788130508701 for the BER/BEN) The SKU is TG175. The Strut-Stopper did an awesome job in my Supernova and an acceptable job in the M1.I took it back to the shop and honed the internal groves to remove some of the roughness and make it smoother.I have been busy testing a CVA Optima Elite 12ga and haven't had a chance to set up another session with the M1/GS combo.I've almost exhausted the ammo supply in my area and must wait for the new stuff to roll in!
-
It was ment to be a complement to anyone who sees the need to shoot more than a couple rounds at a paper plate and call it a day. Those who are on a quest to take their equipment to the limit.
-
Have either of you tried the Federal #7 Heavyweight's,by chance?I ask because few treat patterning like true science that it is.
-
Double that! Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Kimi is the only one who could tame Hamilton! Long live The Iceman!Massa will be a force as well, wait and see.Well, enough non gun talk, just wanted to see where you stood! take care,my fellow Galliante Rampante(Prancing Horse) fan!

Henkka, McLaren or Ferrari in '08?
-
Gun fit has alot to do with how your body reacts to shooting a particular gun.You can purchase a neoprene pad that you can put where your cheek meets the gun,and you can get a softer recoil pad to replace the one on yours,if you have the stock(hard)pad on it.
-
Sometimes after I've found a good load/choke combo,I like to keep shooting at paper targets.I put on my turkey vest and put in a mouth call and walk around my range(private,no one else uses it) and just sit down and pretend I'm calling a live bird.I'll get in field positions and shoot from unknown distances.Between trees, through foliage, etc. I notice the recoil less, because I'm concentrating on a good shot. The only thing missing is the gobble and the feather cloud! It's quite fun,try it out sometime.

Who's hunting more than one....
CH/QuakerBoyProstaff replied to TookyriverCalls's topic in Turkey Hunting
It's out near the Tioga State Forest and Williamsport.Near the New York border,in the middle of the state. There is a considerable turkey population out that way. -
My gun looks like a racecar with so many stickers on it.The only thing it's missing is numbers!Sometimes I think the turkeys come up to it to read what they say, instead of paying attention to my calling:D
