  1. Haven't tried them, but Cabela's has a good deal on them on their website. Check it out!
  2. My personal fave load in the M1 is 3in Hevi 13, 1 5/8 #6's in a Primos Tightwad choke. That is the current set-up for it,that I actually use.
  3. I've never been sorry for buying an M1.I have used it to kill almost everything that I have hunted with it,and it has never let me down. The extra money you save can buy you a lot of goodies to dress it up,eg; choke tubes, sights,or perhaps even a SteadyGrip stock for turkeys. You could even buy another gun for a backup or "rain" gun, like a camo Rem 870 or a Nova!
  4. I've been shooting "old school" Remington Hevi-Shot,Hevi 13,and Federal Heavyweight through all kinds of tubes that were labeled "Lead shot only" since the start of the "Heavier than lead" craze started and have had no problems with mechanical malfunctions.I took on the risk and accepted the responsibility of what could happen. Many of the said tubes have since been approved for use with the newer loads. Now,if you go out and blow your barrel in half tomorrow, please don't go and tell everyone it's because Chad told you it was OK!
  5. I wear the DK Flatwoods turkey vest when hunting in the South and the H.S. Deluxe SUV vest up North.Sponsorship committments stop me from wearing the vest I'd like to wear. All I can say on that one is that it comes in the "new" M.O. Bottomland pattern. It'd be cool to rock out in that pattern again because that is what I wore when I started hunting.
  6. Do you have any pre hunt rituals,or superstitions that you employ to help tip things in your favor?Lucky hat, certain shell in chamber, etc.
  7. If you could only use one vest for the rest of the season, which one would you use?
  8. It's the same old "get where he wants to be,before he does" game.If you are seeing these birds with consistancy, then you should be able to use woodsmanship to get in the travel zone and just bushwack them. Are you allowed to hunt all day there? You could then set up near the roost before they return and try to blast him on his way back up.
  9. The decoy may actually work,if the group is still intact and sorting out the pecking order. A "new gobbler" off on his own may provide just the right motivation for a tough-guy tom to come over and show him who is boss. The only thing he'll find is some hot lead. Good Luck, I hope everything works out for you.
  10. Funny thing is,I don't know how that pesky turkey got on there, people were supposed to pattern on the pilgrim head!LOL:p
  11. I'll run that by them. Thanks for the suggestion. QB listens to what real hunters want. It's what has kept them around for so long.
  12. EXCELLENT choice in patterning targets!
  13. The funniest thing about this thread,is that kats are coming out of the wood-work and going of on tangents and off track excursions, far from the original topic and end up right back at the beginning, just in time for a new person to jump in and take it in another direction! Good Times! I'm waiting for the next post to talk about why the .35 Remington is the best antelope cartridge of all time!
  14. Congrats. Where was this bird taken?
  15. What are you doing to keep bumping these birds?
  16. Seeing them is the biggest boost you can get. Now comes the part that puts even the best to the test.No one has a 100% tactic that will work in every situation,so all you can do is get out there with a positive attitude and give it a shot.As long as you learn something each outing, you will always be a winner.
  17. Turkey22, where did you find out about this choketube?
  18. I'm just wishing that the portion of the tube that exits the muzzle was a little was shorter.I'd need a 22in bbl to get the length that I like in my turkey gun.I'm happy with the performance,I just have to get used to toting that thing over my shoulder through the swamp!lol
  19. I am going to just simply say that I hope your gun works for you now, and you have an excellent time with it in the outdoors. Take care.
  20. No problem. I myself aim at the waddles(the funky looking skin on the neck, where the feathers stop and the skin begins) Shells are so expensive,I want as many to hit in the neck, spine, and scull as possible,so I get my money's worth!LOL:D JK
  21. Put a taller bead or sight on it and this will bring the barrel down as well. Where EXACTLY, are you aiming at the turkey target,at the base of the neck, the actual head, etc?
  22. The key with non talkitive birds is to concentrate less on calling and more on woodsmanship. This being figuring out where the turkeys sleep,fly-down,and go once they do so.Being in a place that the birds already want to be will make the job ten times easier.Try switching up tactics from time to time, like hunting later in the morning, and catching the lonely gobbler that is wandering around, while the hens break off to go lay eggs,or staging a fight between birds with lots of purring, cutting, cackling, and slapping of a hat or turkey wing against your leg.Thinking outside the box is an important tool when things get tough.
  23. Where are you hunting, what type of calling are you doing, and how many turkeys have you seen in your scouting? A little background is needed for a diagnosis.
  24. According to the catalog thay will interchange.
