  1. That gun gets a lot of negative feedback on here, just look at past posts. It also gets a lot of praise from some true believers. If you are really set on getting a new gun,I suggest splitting the difference on a SBE and Stoeger and look for a Benelli M1 Super 90. It is the model that was hot before the and M2 came out. There are some great deals out there because they aren't the newest model out.The only difference between it and the M2 is it doesn't have a comfortech stock or a cryo treated barrel, and a couple little cosmetic things. You can put the M2 barrel on it if you must have the cryo. They can be found in camo models for way less than $1000.Then you can have a tight gat to shoot while you figure out the problem with the 2000.I'm sure someone on here will have the right answer for you so hang tight. take care
  2. Andy, that bolt has been cleaned since that photo was taken, right? lol
  3. Do you want a Super Black Eagle? That is the question.
  4. I use the exact same load, except 100grains of powder.Three shots is the maximum I can get before having to clean.I am trying the new Remington muzz. primers.I hope they help. The majority of the build up is in the first inch after the breech plug,so I figured the slower burn rate might help.I'm really happy with CVA's products.
  5. Don't be afraid to ask the experienced guys questions, and do more listening than talking. That will be the biggest step towards not looking like a "retard".I know you are going bear hunting, but if you can get your hands on "How to bag the biggest buck of your life" by Larry Benoit, you will learn a TON of useful woodsmanship skills that covers some serious issues that a person should know before heading into the big woods.I don't put a lot of stock in some of these "hunters" on t.v. and sometimes the magizines, but this guy is the real deal. Good Luck with your adventure.
  6. What type of powder and bullets to you use,and how many shots do you get before having to clean?
  7. Does anyone muzzleloader hunt,at all?
  8. Check out the Buckhammer by Remington. They have an assortment of "Managed Recoil" loads in slugs and centerfire rifles if you are so inclined. Good Luck, have fun!
  9. It' time to gamble like Kenny Rogers! The fall roost cycle is kind of like the rut for deer,IT WILL CHANGE.The question is when. Every region is different,in when they pick up roots and move. They don't go real far,but putting all your eggs in one basket(or tree) could leave you on your back heels.I would just try to play it close to the chest on these birds, try to slip in and not disturb them and kill one comming down in the a.m. if that doesn't work, let them walk as far from the roost as you can, then try to bust them.If that still don't work, back off,and hunt the roost area later in the day. Calling bachelor groups of toms after a bust is a hair pulling exercise,if they are young jakes,go with lost/assembly calls. If they are "Super Jakes" that have med. beards and unfull gobbles, hit up some fighting purrs, with a fake wing/hat to the leg. Are you allowed to kill them with a muzz. or do you have to wait for firearms season? Shoot em' up!
  10. I would might soak my choke tubes in it,and my breech plug for my in-line,but that's as brave as I'd get with that stuff!
  11. Does anyone own a CVA Optima Elite?
  12. I hear you.
  13. Defeat makes one appreciate success even more!
  14. How many sisters does your wife have?LOL I'll bet you can't wait for Christmas!!!
  15. Look back in the last couple of months posts on this very topic. It was hot awhile ago
  16. Fiber optic sights and an extended choke tube for turkey.Check out what TruGlo has to offer. Also a sling. All guns get heavy in the hands after a long day afield. Enjoy, you bought a great gun!
  17. Have it dipped. You will be glad you did after all is said and done.Camo-Clad is cool from afar, but looks kind of hack up close. They praise how long it lasts, but don't go into detail about what your metal looks like after you have to remove it for another wrap. After skinning it a couple of times, you will realize you could have just had it dipped for the same price.Gander Mtn has some reasonable prices on dipping. If price is a big issue, then go for the wrap while you save for the other.
  18. Evening busts are a crapshoot,as the birds are closer to the roost than they are earlier in the day. They aren't as panic stricken to get back together because they can pitch up and be in their comfort zone.In the evening, they are heading to safety, in the morning they are heading away from it.Once the guns come into play, there will be more margin for error. I would just concentrate on figuring out better travel routes in the meantime, for you and them.Doing your homework pays when it's test time! Good Luck
  19. The M1 is my 1st choice into the turkey woods. The SBEII is an awesome gun as is the M2,but the deals that can be found on M1's are unreal!Add to that, you can retrofit M2 parts onto it and you have a winner.
  20. What was the makeup of the busted flock?Jakes, hens, longbeards, couldn't tell? What type of calling did you do?
  21. I miss hunting pheasants.I used to take my Ithaca m37 16ga. out and walk for miles up and down the Deleware River in Pa. bumping into grouse and woodcock along the way.It was nice because you could walk and talk to your closest friends and also get an exciting hunt in, or you could go alone and find yourself and leave your worries down by the river. Best of luck this season.
  22. Right on,LOL!
  23. You came back just in time. This place is busy, never a dull moment!
  24. I'm trying to figure out what wirenut wants them for.He never specified.I used the Primos Tightwad last season for turkeys with great results. This year I'll be using the new Truglo Strut Stopper Xtreme. It has internal grooves and porting.I hope to get some more productive patterning sessions starting in Dec.
  25. Are the tubes for clays or hunting,Wirenut?
