  1. I cant see the need for titanium. Its a tube, nothing more. Just because its on a shotgun does not mean its not a simple tube. I think that Daves Metal Works has the best tube for the $$. IIRC, I paid about 80 bucks for mine. Its simple, well made and works. All BS aside, you are paying for about $3 worth of materal. There is NO REASON WHATSOEVER to pay up to 200 bucks for a full length tube. Dont believe the hype.
  2. You will need a pair of external snap ring pliers. You could probably get it off another way, but as you said, you risk scratching up your M4. IIRC, Sears has a small kit that contains both internal, and external, with 6 or so different bits for about 15 bucks. Every gun guy should have a SN plier set.
  3. DO NOT HEAT THE FACTORY TUBE You are only making it swell with the heat. The receiver is your target. it took very little heat for me to unscrew mine. Also, have the replacement handy, screw it in there while its still hot and it will hold bette. Before you ask, heat from a heatgun wont damage the finish at all.
  4. Anything. No BS, I have yet to find anything that my M4 wont cycle.
  5. Check out the Gear Sector GSG5 sling. I dont think its actually a "better" sling than the others, but I picked it because its versitile, and has quick release snaps. I use my M4 for 3-gun, and the majority of the stages done require a sling. That way, I can ditch it and its not in the way. I just used the stock mounting points. Remember that the front mount will move from left, right, and center. Its retained by an external snap ring. Between this, and dual mounts on the buttstock, you should have plenty of options.
  6. I dont think its that rare. Mine is a 11701 and had the LE markings on it. Not sure what the actual figures are on one engraving to the next though.
  7. If it shines, it needs lube. Seriously, I lube VERY little in my M4. Just a few drops along the bolt and the slides. I prefer CLP Breakfree. I put it in a small pen oiler.
  8. Same here. 1st day out, I ran about 200rds of the CHEAP wal-mart stuff through mine with ZERO issues. To date, it has yet to choke on anything. This makes me think something is fowl. Not to knock on your gunsmithing skills, but are you 100% SURE that you put everything back together as it should be? If its put together right, stop messing around. Ship it back to Benelli, because something is wrong. Contrary to belief, M4s do NOT need to be broke in to cycle low brass. Send it back to Benelli.
  9. Loaded question. Depends on how you want your M4. If you want it with the full mag tube AND the tele-stock, then no. As it is now, there are not enough parts out there to have it full EVIL. I dont care at all for PG stocks, and I really dislike the 11707s tele-stock. I removed mine in favor of a field stock. Not only did this allow me to run a full mag tube, but the field stock, IMO, is far superior (though less cool looking) than the field stock. Its a *****, yes.
  10. The cheapest one. Its a damn tube.Made from about $3 worth of materal. Absoutly RAPE to pay $300 like some people are asking. IMO, its still rape to pay $100 for one. That being said, I have the DMW on mine.
  11. All the more reason to not put a quad rail on a shotgun.
  12. I think that its shown on thier website as thier 2 point carbine sling. Though, I think they also advertise it as being "universal" Its not a duty weapon, I just use it in 3-gun and for other recreational shooting.
  13. Just a quick review of the GSP Gear Sector sling. These can be used for pretty much any long gun configuration, but I chose it for my Benelli M4. If it works out, I may get one for one of my carbines. They have numerous mounting options for whatever you are running. I ordered the GSP setup while at work Sat, at about 4am. Woke up to find it at my door today(TUE). Damn that was fast! WEBSITE. http://www.gearsector.com/ Anyhoo, I ordered this sling for my Benelli M4, with the intent to utalize the stock mounting hardware offered on the M4. Sling arrived as described. Well thought out product. Quality construction and a few little details that let you know that they went the extra mile. Also, its nice to look down and see that your product was US made.[] The ripcord is really cool. You can snug it up, and it really pulls the shotgun into your shoulder, making for a MUCH more solid shooting position. I am VERY partial to any bolt-ons, and and any other mall-ninjaesque tactical **** for a shotgun. Funky stocks, quad rails, PG grips, lights, lasers, ect. All look cool in zombie flicks, but really only succeed in draining your wallet in the real world. Slings are no exception. However, as to slings, either you REALLY need one, or, its just in the damn WAY. Liability. What drew me to the GS, was the quick-release buckle setup. I use my M4 for 3-gun stuff, as well as general mayhem.[bD] That being said, on some courses, you are reguired to transition from your shotgun, to your pistol, and let your shotgun hang. On other courses, some of the more creative ones, its all shotgun.Bailing out of cars, ect. Lots of potential to snag on something. A lot of the positions you have to get into, well, a sling would be a liability. With the quick release buckle setup, I plan to just remove the sling if the course dictates. At this point, its all theory. I have a 3-gun match this weekend, so we will see how she runs. Here is my M4 with the Gear Sector sling.
  14. I have about 1,000 through mine. Still havent cleaned it. 2 or 4 port?? Not sure what you mean there.
  15. You MAAYYYY be able to find one for under $500. I sold one on AR15.com for $1,000, and another for $750. If you had one, you wouldnt want one. They are not all that. Id give maybe $75 for one. Pretty uncomfortable stock, even as PG stocks go.
  16. Thats my understanding also. Regardless of the tube length, there is 1 spring. I got an extended spring with my DMV tube. Forgot to install it, and my M4 works fine. I cant see how a longer/higher tension spring would hurt anything. The only thing its gonna do is get the shell into the receiver faster. I dont see it hurting either way.
  17. Gettin a little anal with the cleaning in here, are we? You can clean the bbl? News to me. Get back to me with how that benefits ANYTHING that a smoothbore shotgun does. Thats like washing the contact patch of the tires on your truck.
  18. Dont heat the tube. This will only cause it to expand. Heat the receiver. It does not take much. Maybe 2-3 min with a heatgun. After that. I was able to unscrew the stock tube with very little effort. Also, have your new tube handy, and screw it in while the receiver and loc-tite is still warm. Firm hand tight will be fine. Once it cools back down, its not going anywhere.
  19. This is true, you want to heat the Receiver NOT the tube. Not only will it take longer, physics are against you. Mine came out very easy. About 3min with a heat gun on a low setting. At that time, I was able to loosen it with my bare hands super easy.
  20. Thats what I figured. Then I looked up the part, and its the same for all models. The Benelli unit is about 4in shorter than the one that Daves supplied. Actually, I think i may got back to the stock one. It was much easier to load without all that extra spring in there.
  21. Heads up. While moving some stuff around today, I realized that I put my M4 back together with the OEM mag tube spring. The gun ran flawless with the OEM unit in there, but I put the longer spring that Dave supplied in there today. Apparently, the stock spring works fine. I swaped them out for peace of mind.
  22. You should be able to pick up a heat gun at any hardware type store. Sears, Lowes Home D, ect. I think mine is a Craftsman. As for the Loctite, I cant see that it would hurt, but looking at the design, I couldnt see that it was needed. Since the mag tube screws into the receiver, and you have the cap nut that secures the bbl to the mag tube, on the other side of a ring, you would have to loose the cap nut, then have the mag tube work itself loose on top of that. I dont see it happening, but whatever gives you peace of mind. I applied the heat gun directly to the receiver. I had it on low, and it never got hot enough to damage anything. Granted, I removed ALL of the guts of the receiver before I started this. I would guess that after a heavy round that your receiver would get damn near as hot as I got mine today. Which still wasnt anywhere close to 200deg. Whatever Benelli is using breaks loose at a fairly low temp. Id estimate 150deg. I have been at work, but ill get some pics up asap.
  23. Picked up this Benelli M4 last Oct. It came with the Col stock, but the factory -2 mag cap. I havent had much time to play with it between work and what not, so I just left it alone for a while. Got a 3-gun match comming up next weekend, and I wanted the use the M4, and +2 would really come in handy. I ordered the 1pc +2 tube from Daves MW last week on a Monday, it showed up last Thurs. Total price to my door was $68. It showed up with the extension, and a new spring. Daves piece is a nice design, clean threads, and very finshed looking. Also, the color actually matches the gun better than the OEM Benelli piece. As for the install, removing the stock tube is much easier than people make it out to be. Just for kicks, I tried to loosen it with no heat, and just my hands, but that ******* wouldnt budge. I wrapped the receiver in some shop rags, and stuck it in a vice, only clamping it down just enough to keep the gun from rotating. I would suggest that if you use a vice, you do the same as I would imagine the alum reciver would destort pretty easy if you clamped it down to hard. I used a heat gun on the receiver, right where the stock piece screws in. You do not want to heat the extension, and heat will make it expand inside the receiver, causing it to be harder to remove. I moved the heat gun from side to side for less than 2 min. I would imagine that the temp of the materal was about 160-180 at this point. At this time, I was able to unscrew the stock piece with one hand very easy. No gloves, as the heat had not moved down the stock extension yet. Again, it does not take much heat at all, but it does take some to "break" the compound that Benelli uses. I would not use a torch, or the like as I wouldnt want to put it against the stock finish. At this time, I hand screwed the Daves piece into the receiver while it was still warm. As it cools, it will get tighter. I only used my hands to tighten it as the stock piece was not very tight. I did bow up on it, but didnt use a strap wrench. Also, I decided against using any compound when putting it back together. Looking at the design, there is no way it can come loose. Just a while ago, I took her out for a test run. I wanted to try some reduced recoil buckshot, along with some standard buckshot, and a regular box of #6 shot. As always, the M4 ran flawless. Ate eveything I fed it. I have yet to have it fail one time. These guns ROCK!! Now with Daves piece on there, and +9 capicity, it packs some firepower, and can empty all 9 in a little over 2 seconds. I can 100% recommed Daves Piece. Between the quality and the excellent price, I have no problem giving it a 10/10/:)
  24. Thats how mine is. As soon as I take the cap nut off, you better have your hands on something because mine basically falls appart the second you pull forward on the bbl. As said before. I cant see what the problem is.
  25. Chill, no one is attacking you. I explained my theory pretty well also.Start taking off aftermarket ad-ons until it runs right. If you KNOW its not the Surefire, great, move on to something else. I can assure you that Benellis design is not the variable in question.
