For any idiots out there who still think birdshot is effective
Trapshooter1 replied to Unobtanium's topic in Benelli
Think about it, every action has an equal and opposite reaction. It couldn't hit him with more than the kick of a shell with only 4 birdshot pellets, and the tiny amount of powder to match a full loads fps. That sounds like the weight and powder of a rimfire which I know from experience has no felt recoil. -

I shot a piece of 1" hickory with #4 high velocity turkey load and it didn't penetrate, but hickory is a very strong wood, regardless, If he got hit with 4 pellets and 2 penetrated his skull, if 20 hit then 10 pellets would be in his brain. A good point blank shot would kill him, I used to just leave my shotguns loaded with high brass #6, and am convinced a good shot would disable a person, however with my testing I have decided to leave some old 00 buck I found in my ammo box in the gun. I still leave an IM choke in that I normally use. I don't know if this is a good choke but I really don't care about HD that much, I just know for shore It will put a man down. -
HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009
Trapshooter1 replied to tyson129's topic in Benelli
Government wants, and might have the power if not fought against, to take away all fire arms, eventually. They will make more and more gun restrictions until it is illegal. We were given the 2nd amendment by the founding fathers specifically to protect are selves from government over control. Ask Obama if he wants to out law guns and he will give you an hour long answer that dances around the topic and the question goes un answered. Even if he said a simple and clear no, do you think we can hold him to his word based on what you have seen so far? -
ATF Response to Legality of Full Length Mag Tube on Benelli M4
Trapshooter1 replied to MeanGreen's topic in Benelli
I think we should fight against every gun restriction, we have the right to bear any and all types of arms, including full auto and +5 capacity imported guns. Fighting with guns will be the last resort, but it might be necessary if further drastic gun laws be set. The government is "weaning" us off of guns. This means they outlaw more and more types of guns slowly, until we are left with none. Given time, they will pass more gun restrictions until we are left with none. I am not saying it will be this generation, but there is a good chance it will eventually happen given time and the right situation. The founding fathers made the 2nd amendment so we the people can defend ourselves from excessive government power. -
Take one of these and novaking's mini shells and you have 44 round capacity
-
They also make a compact 14 round version here is how to load it it is pretty cool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdUYHYTSpGY

I think the reason that most dont go past the barrel, is because in a combat situation, you want the barrel to be short, and if the magazine extends past it, it defeats the purpose. Some competition shotgun shooters have tubes that stick a good bit past the barrel, but much longer and you run the risk of denting and bending the thin walls. The final reason is cosmetic appearance, I like tubes like Tim Bradley has (or like the one's from Kip on a 18.5" barrel) that are even, or pretty close with the barrel.

ATF Response to Legality of Full Length Mag Tube on Benelli M4

+1 It doesn't list any restrictions on firearms. -
23 rounds plus 4 in the factory mag and 1 in the chamber makes 28 shells. I don't know why I said 25 I guess I should go back to first grade math
-
Hey all you tacticool guys, a lot of you are putting hi capacity mags on your HD shotguns, how would you like to have a magazine that holds a box of shells? Here it is on the M2: and here is there website: http://www.xrailbyrci.com/ They say it doesn't add significant weight to your shotgun, but I would call a box of shells significant weight.
-
A 28" would be good for birds, but like novaking said, if you are just throwing clays around just for practice for hunting use your supernova because it is the gun you will use for hunting. keep the 1100 clean and original and pass it on to another generation
-
Measure twice, cut once and make it a little bit longer than you think you want because you might cut uneven or like novaking said you cant go back. You might find a slightly used Supernova with a slug barrel cheaper than a slug barrel.

$15 for 20 shells is way to high for pest control. Plus you don't eat pests so I want to pump them full of lead. I would just buy a $20 box of 100 cheapos they kick plenty light for me.
-
For trap most prefer a high rib and a long (28"+) barrel, and I like the double bead for trap, I just line the beads up to make sure I am strait and forget about them when I am shooting. I say you need a 30" barrel, but follow Tim's advice, he is more knowledgeable than me on this topic.

I don't mind my guns and ammo performing good and looking good while doing it. I am just saying that because I have been their picking things only for looks. I think if you are only using the gun for deer hunting only I agree with Tyson, you should get a rifled shotgun(barrel). A quality scope is also highly recommended
-
No problem, I have a question for you though, with the chamber open, can you shake it and it makes a noise? I think it is the rotating bolt head spring, because it doesn't make the noise when it is closed with it compressed. I don't think the spring is supposed to be loose and it functions fine but I have the same curious problem.
-
Yes this is completly normal for an M2, after being dry fired (snap caps) with the bolt closed, you can shake the gun and the hammer has about a half inch of free play. The CDL also has a slight curve to it.
-
I was indeed talking about the promo ammo, AA's seem to be very good high quality ammo.
-
What type of shooting sports will you be doing? Name the one you will do the most first then the second most, and so on. If you already have a 28" barrel that will be fine and you can get it threaded. But you might save money buying an already threaded barrel with chokes. A longer barrel swings slower and smoother and makes it better for trap. I would not recommend winchester shotgun ammo. I have seen an older 1100 have some serious problems with winchester ammo. I recommend federal and remington, as they seemed to function flawlessly in that 1100. My friend was shooting singles and all he had was winchester ammo. his 1100 jammed shut and nobody could open it. It took pretty much the whole sqaud to yank the barrel of with the shell in there.
-
The barrels are outrageously expensive, I would seriously consider a new gun. Hornady slugs are some of the best but I wouldn't make up my mind with cool looks when it comes to ammo.

I am a fast typer do you type asdf jkl; style or just two fingers at a time? It also helps to subscribe to threads and have instant email notifications and spell checker so I don't have to read over my posts for gramatical errors.

Good advice this is the point I was trying to get across.

The Super Nova is a very smart choice. It is a very smooth pumper. When you push the release and hold it up it gravity pumps it half way. I like the grip texture's feel, but it gets slippery when sweaty. It is kind of bulky feeling, but not to bad, easy to get used to. The shell stop is pretty handy to. Let us know how you like it.
-
Are you going to use it for handi cap? If so do you know how far back? I recommend an Improved Modified (IM) constriction, It will pretty much do it all. I also recommend you get it threaded because I would like to be able to switch from that IM choke to a skeet choke for skeet.
-
I heard you could convert a pump to cycle them, but still not reliably.
