  1. Seems you burned the Teflon in the NP3 finish. I doubt you twisted the receiver. It would not cycle properly or feel like binding if it was. I'd shoot it without worry. Your barrel handles the pressure, not the receiver.
  2. After looking at the light mount options, I'm going to try a GearSector Scout light mount. They did a revision to them recently and got the weight down to .7 ounces. That's just under 20 grams. I like the attachment method better and it seems to be low profile as well. They don't have too many sharp edges either. I had them in the past on several weapons, but sold them off.
  3. Here's the AVA Tactical Mount. I think this might have been my fault. I checked the screws that attached the outer light ring to the body of the mount. They seemed fairly loose. I'm certain I tightened them more than what I found. Either that, or the absence of the flash light body allowed the screws to tighten more since the body wasn't offering any resistance. The fasteners had blue locktite on them. I reassembled and seated the flash light deeper into the ring so that the front portion of the ring is spanned over the light's body. I then cranked the fasteners down to 30 inch pounds. I didn't want to risk going higher on the short fasteners.
  4. This thing is seriously lightweight.
  5. Taran on top. What I planned to blow thru it, but failed.
  6. They would probably say it is only to be used with stock triggers and hammers, blah blah blah. Even with it installed, I didn't notice the trigger being significantly lighter than it already was with the FFT trigger and Geissele hammer. Here are some pictures of the carrier.
  7. Do you have any idea how much of a weight difference there is between a stock M2/M4 and the Hybrid?
  8. Unless it was a culmination of some other problems I'm having with my M4 -- But I don't think so. Several rounds I direct loaded into the chamber and pressed the trigger. *Click* Ejected the round and observed an obvious light primer strike. Attempted to reload that same round in to fire it again. Same issue. This occurred on cheap value pack ammo as well as high dollar 3" magnums. I replaced the spring with my factory spring, and light primer strikes went away.
  9. I probably have about 300 rounds thru it. However, most are just high brass #4 birdshot. The 3" magnums did it in. It lasted about three of those before the light hit the dirt. I did fire a handful of 2 3/4 slugs prior to the 3" mags though. I'll get some pictures.
  10. Bad day at the range today. I shot my light loose today using 3" magnum rounds out of the Ava mount. I thought I had it pretty tight, but it shook it free. It actually scraped off some of the knurling on the Surefire cap. I need to think of a method of securing the light better to the mount. I also determined parts of my M4 after 12,000 rounds are worn out. When the bolt is locked to the rear, I can slap the bolt handle forward and it will close. The breech latch is worn out and the bottom of the bolt carrier is worn pretty heavily around the notch that actuates the breech latch. The shells aren't feeding from the shell elevator correctly anymore. I tried both the TTI and stock elevators with the same problem. So I think it's time to start hunting down some replacement parts. I received the titanium .625" gas block from V7 Weapon Systems today. The weight difference from the BCM unit is pretty amazing. I'm calculating a 1.226 ounce weight cut. ADCO told me that they'll pin the titanium gas block for me when I have the barrel cut down to 13.1" and the flash suppressor pinned in place. I'll send all the parts in after they come back from painting. 25 grams is great for that mount. The IWC mount is 27.89g.
  11. Well, the TTI bolt spring was an epic fail. Multiple light primer strikes on various brands of ammunition. The shell elevator is pretty nice. It certainly is easier to stuff shells in. The carrier is polished butter smooth. I guess I can tell there is less of a chance of it biting your thumb due to the design of the front of the carrier. Is it worth 80 bucks? Meh, not really. It's certainly an improvement over stock. The spring isn't worth two dead flies. I have some pictures, I'll load them later.
  12. Beautiful work. A lot of effort went into this.
  13. Ava, Thanks a bunch. I think that just sold me on that mount. That is much lower than the IWC. What is the set screw for on the top of the mount?
  14. The entire rail assembly with rail covers, light with batteries, ST07 switch and QD sling loops is approximately 15 ounces.
  15. A couple profile shots of the completed switch. The IWC mount is okay, but not as low profile as I had hoped. I may look for other options to tuck the light in closer to the rail. I really wish Surefire would do away with that stupid straight wire tape switch plug. It would be so much better if they had a 60 - 90 degree angle coming off of the plug cap that you could index whichever way you needed. This would keep the package much more compact.
  16. Brownells has taken lots of my money over the years.
  17. Generally I buy all my gunsmithing tools at Brownells. If you follow the link to the other post and scroll to the end, I linked specific tool sets at Brownells that I recommend.
  18. Yes. I would use blue painters tape. Apply it in several layers. It's hard to slip when tapping the pin out since the punch will be captured thru the access hole. It also depends on your punches. The greatest tools ever for roll pins are role pin holders and roll pin started punches.
  19. If you follow the link and see the links to the tools required for the job, you'll do okay. It's not that hard to do with the proper tools. There will still be some swearing when aligning the shell stop inside the receiver. Slave pins will make this task much easier. It's mainly about having a set of punches that are long enough to tap the pin out successfully.
  20. http://forums.benelliusa.com/showthread.php/29534-Benelli-M4-Shell-Stop-Removal-amp-Install Here is my thread about the install. My bandwidth is blown out for the month though. The photos will be back up in a few days. Sorry. Stupid photobucket has a 10gb monthly limit which I max out every month.
  21. I have never pinched my thumb with the Benelli m4. I stuff them in there pretty fast. Since I modified the shell stop, it is a pleasure to load the M4. There is little force except the tension of the magazine spring to overcome. Before, it always felt like hitting a speed bump right at the last push of the shell to get it over the lip of the shell stop. Ramping the shell stop and relieving the stop so it has more flex really seemed to help. No signs of breaking on me yet either.
