Considering that I'm not aware of anyone who has been prosecuted for 922® violations when it comes to the Benelli M4, I think you'd be pretty safe. About the only place this might matter is if you're playing shooting games like three gun, and the RO wants proof of compliance. It sounds like an opinion from Benelli. I'd be curious to see if they have any of that supported with documentation from the BATF. If I was buying right now, I'd get myself a new production 11703, then add the following parts; - Benelli OEM Collapsible Stock - Carriercomp full length titanium magazine tube - Carriercomp spec Wolff Spring - Carriercomp Magazine Follower - Carriercomp Bolt Handle (I'd wait or keep the OEM if I couldn't find one) - Carriercomp/Geissele Hammer - FFT Trigger - FFT Disconnector - FFT Reproduction Handguards - TTI Shell Elevator - DMW Oversized Safety Button - GG&G Oversized Bolt Release - ScalarWork Top Rail (If you don't want an RMR, replace the top rail with a Carriercomp or FFT top rail) - Trijicon RMR, preferably a LED or Adjustible model - Meprolights Night Sights - Ava Tactical Weapon Light Mount - Surefire Outdoorsman Body/Tailcap and a Surefire M600U 500 Lumen Head - IWC MOE QD Sling Point for the Collapsible Stock (ejection port side mounted for right handed setup) - BlueForceGear VCAS Padded Push Button Sling This setup would give you well in excess the number of 922® compliant parts necessary; 1. Full Length Magazine Tube 2. Magazine Follower 3. Hammer 4. Trigger 5. Disconnector 6. Reproduction Handguards

Thanks. I'm not sure which screws to use yet since I don't have the optics yet. I'd assume they are the shorter pair. The instructions didn't show using the rail washers, so I didn't use them. The instructions also call for 10 in. Lbs of torque, which is a lot lower than the OEM specified 16-18 in. Lbs.

Got my Scalarworks rails today. Seems they changed up the design a little since the last one I received. Question for Scalarworks: Are those steel helicoils in the mount for the RMR? Kind of retarded that Trijicon doesn't just give you the weather seal plate. I'm not too worried if Robar messes mine up cosmetically. I'm pretty rough on the guns as it is, so I figure it'll give it a little character.

65 bucks shipped via usps priority mail. Either gaypal gifting or money order/certified check. The only reason I'm selling is because I'm moving to a scalarworks rail.

WMD Guns handled my M4. I disassembled it completely for them and they coated the receiver in nickel boron, then applied a matte burnt bronze Cerakote to the exterior. It was pretty reasonable considering how complicated the order was. I think I paid around 275 - 300 for the process. However, I do prefer the NP3+ finish to nickel boron. You'll have a hard time getting an exact match on any Cerakote that is done at different times. There is always some shading variations. It's like trying to match up FDE from various manufacturers. Example, here is Benelli's version of Dark Earth.

Benelli M4 -- Receiver Extension Removal/Reinstallation Guide
StrangerDanger replied to StrangerDanger's topic in Benelli
Just a brief update: I did another clients M1014 under my FFL today. Without a doubt, the MAPP torch is the way to go. It took me maybe 2 minutes of flame to break the threadlocker. Newer production M4's are tougher to get apart than the old ones. I failed on a newer production 11707 a few years back after two hours of using two heat guns on the extension. About the only reason to disassemble a newer production model is to fix a damaged extension or if you're doing some kind of high end coating process. -
Awesome. Just went to OpticsPlanet and they have a 10% coupon code "3DFLASH" going right now until Thursday. I'm happy with 500 bucks each. Ordered a Nickel Boron LED model and a black LED model. Both with 3.5 moa dots. Got the weather seals too. Your SBS is going to be amazing. Really jealous of that thing. Being done up as an H20+ model with all matching accessories is going to be really nice.

Cool project! Looks well used too.

I don't know of any specific coater in the Vegas area. For Cerakote, I usually ship to a company named Controlled Chaos. Their rates are reasonable. I didn't like the Benelli's FDE or even their new burnt bronze. Their new burnt bronze looks like the rubbed a Hersey bar on the receiver. Here is one of mine in Burnt Bronze Cerakote with an interior of Nickel Boron.

I just saw someone grab a lightly used one on AR15.com for 1400 shipped. Had the standard stock and a full length magazine tube. Several months ago, a forum member was selling a loaded one dirt cheap and it sat here for weeks before someone stole it. Deals are out there, but you might have to wait and be patient.

If you can buy used for a substantial savings, do it. Barely anyone actually shoots these shotguns. Most have well under 500 rounds thru them.

What spare parts should be keep on hand ?
StrangerDanger replied to Gmcrigger2007's topic in Benelli
Ebay has a brand new 11707 barrel, ARGO system, piston assembly for 400 bucks right now -- all brand new. I'm tempted. I keep a lot of the small parts on hand for my gunsmithing practice. I have those plastic boxes Walmart sells that have the little dividers inside for fishing lures or whatever. Brownells sends each part inside a yellow bag, so I cut the label off the bag, and drop it inside each square. Then I put those type of parts inside it. Rather than the average user buy a lot of expensive little pins and springs, you'd be better served by buying something like a complete trigger group. It's more portable and will fix a problem faster than troubleshooting the many possible problems. Trouble shooting issues is much easier when you can just hot swap a trigger pack and see if the error persists. The M4 will function on a single piston. I broke one early on and it kept chugging until the broken piece dislodged from the channel and jammed the bolt carrier. That took Benelli about a month to send a replacement. Buying a spare one isn't a cheap ordeal either. -
Neat. Interested to see how it comes out in the end. You did well cutting the rail. Any concern with the rear vestigial portion of the rail obstructing the view of the rmr? Any reason you didn't just use a 3 gun gear Velcro card system?
-
The stronger the supporting shoulder, the weaker rounds should function okay. The only limit should be things like bird bombs, gray handicap loads and things like that. Value pack cheap ammo should cycle fine if you're supporting it well.
-
Yep, exactly that. I was just curious to see if you had some special technique to minimize the amount of materials being moved around by the staking process. As you called them aptly, amateur trails. Thanks a lot as always.
-
Outstanding pictures! Thanks for putting this together. I had a question about the link on the back of the M4's bolt carrier. When you remove them, do you do anything to replace the stake marks?
-
Great pictures. So once you lift the claw, you can push the roll pin out with hand pressure?
