  1. If you ever wondered why we have so many stupid laws - as in, laws that are obviously stupid - now you know why. It's like this all across the country. It's a joke.
  2. I use azoom snap caps in all my guns for dry practice. They are expensive but worth it. Highly recommended.
  3. Yes same issue from an eyepad.
  4. The heat gun breaks the threadlocker where the original mag tube is screwed into the receiver. There is a lot of variability in how long you have to heat it up to get it to break loose. The carriercomp instructions didn't work for me at all; I had to heat the receiver much hotter than they instructed. Some break loose without too much effort. Mine was a b*tch.
  5. What is FFL? Is that Freedom Fighter Tactical? I didn't know their colors matching wasn't good. If I were buying again I would get the SOCOMGuy tube. Post in that thread if you want one or have questions. He has a good reputation here and this is a tough crowd.
  6. This. ^^^ Seller may have been in on the bidding and tried to squeeze the lemon one too many times at the close. What a joke.
  7. That looks good. I agree that a rotating swivel is much preferred - I feel like the non-rotating types put extra stress on the mechanism and are prone to shear. When you re-attached the rubber grip did you use any epoxy? If so, what type? I need to finish mine and am on the fence about what to use. Too light and it won't work; too strong and I'll have to cut it off with a knife next time I remove it.
  8. Very much looking forward to seeing how this turns out. I confess I'm not super keen on the bronze in the pics but I am guessing it's better in person. That 9mm AR you built is my favorite build I've seen on the intertubez. It is superb.
  9. Did you see the video(s)? They had it all: that fearmongering twerp Stein (ugh he makes my skin crawl), police chief Keith Magnus explaining that handguns are not defensive weapons, plus all manner of epic stupidity and nonsense from the politicians. It goes on and on, but here's the part where CHIEF OF POLICE (Emeryville) Keith James embarrasses himself: That's just one highlight of many. It would be funny if it weren't so infuriating.
  10. That is an impressive list. Thanks for posting. To be fair: Just because Benelli supplies them with gear doesn't mean they use it. And regular use does not necessarily imply superiority. For example, there are weapons that are in wide use in the US armed forces that, in my opinion, are crap (M9 pistol, I'm looking directly at you). For me it's a balance between adoption for use amongst professionals that have a choice and a broader understanding of what the competition is (or isn't) offering. If you take all this into account I think the M2 is a great shotgun. I own/shoot the M4, but if someone handed me an M2 I would be comfortable betting my life on it. I can't say that about very many things. One man's opinion.
  11. I stopped by the Mesa office today and swapped out my old grip for a new one. They were extremely nice about it. They do care, so big props to them. I had mixed feelings about the old grip but if they made an improvement then I wanted to use it. The new grip mounts the same as the old one. I need to pick up some mild epoxy to finish the install to my satisfaction. It fits very snugly but I prefer the epoxy to finish the job. The new grip is definitely softer than the old. It's not spongy, but the plastic is less stiff. The top edge of the backstrap is slightly narrower, which is nice for my small hands, but the back is still quite square. I'm not thrilled with that so I will likely take some sandpaper to it and try and round it out. IMO it doesn't fit the hand as well as it could/should. The backstrap of any modern handgun is rounded, so why is the back of this grip so square? It's not as bad as a Gen 2 Glock 21 (which is my benchmark for 'worst grip ever') but it's closer to that then it should be. If for some reason they come out with a more ergonomic version then I would probably upgrade. Overall it's an improvement, and I can't say enough about their customer service. Mesa Tactical is a great company.

    New M4 Owner

Looks good! What sight did you put on? Is that the Mesa Tactical sidesaddle? I'm guessing - I can't really tell.
  13. This made me laugh: Don't kick a guy when he's already down! ; ) I get super OCD about my kit too but agree with the comments in re: tools. I don't go trying to put dents, dings or scratches on a fighting gun but I don't worry about it either. Wear marks are good. It means you've been practicing and your stuff works. One man's opinion.
  14. Ahh that's a bummer. But if you don't shoot it then now would be a good time to sell. Might as well get your money out of it since it's collecting dust in your safe. It is a beautiful gun but prices are absurd right now. Post it on calguns - no c-stock, no problem!
  15. Blam4 or CDM BMT. More detail here: http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php/29303-CDM-BMT-Light-mount I have the BMT w/ short rail and x300 mounted on right side just in front of forend, sling swivel on left side (right handed, use left hand forward to shoot). I like it. I don't like tape or wires. For light and switch questions go to the candlepower forums. You can find robust lights for substantially less than surefire. I wouldn't bet my life on one but some people swear by them. See you out there. -case-
  16. Correct. The legislation is already mostly written because they used the 1994 ban as a starting point but Feinstein hasn't released specifics because she doesn't want people to have a head start identifying all the bull****. It should be here very soon now that Obama has had his say. What Feinstein has said is that it will be much more strict than the 1994 ban. For example, they reduced the number of allowable evil rifle features from two down to one, and some other stuff. You can review rough proposals on Feinsteins website if you have the stomach for it. 922r was related to import restrictions, not the gun itself. So you should be good there. Instead we will get the shaft on some other grounds, such as your gun can hold more than 5 rounds.
  17. Ahh what a **** birthday. Such a bummer. Huge annoyance. I quit riding motorcycles on the street because of women in SUVs and elderly folks in any car. People don't pay attention. I hope that you can get it fixed up right and get it back on the street. More importantly I hope that you are able to make a full physical recovery. The woman and her insurance company should get ready to cut you a check.

    5 + 0 + 1

Got it. I am sorry I couldn't be more helpful. There are some knowledgeable members here that should be able to answer your question. You should have a good answer in a day or two. Edited to add: There is a small button/lever that you can press to de-cock the hammer (I think it's called the "hammer indicator"). I think the same little button lowers the hammer and loads a round into the chamber. One purpose of the button is to enable you to swap out the round in the chamber without emptying the magazine. No idea how this affects the ghost load. Now I am curious too. I'll test it with some dummy rounds and see what I can find.

Re: Can the M4 be stored with a full magazine and one on the carrier but with an empty chamber with the hammer down (uncocked) or will pulling the trigger on the empty chamber cause the next round in the magazine to be released causing a possible jam? I don't know. I would have to try it at the range but I don't think so. I think the floated round requires that you have a round in the chamber and dropping the hammer on a chambered round makes the gun go bang. If you were really fussed you could load a dummy round in the chamber, load the mag, and then float a round, then drop the hammer. At which point I think you're being silly, but that's me. Why does it matter if the hammer is cocked? You can store your gun however you like but you aren't going to wear out the hammer spring by leaving it cocked any more than you are going to wear out the mag tube spring if you leave it loaded. Also, a lot of M4 owners buy extended mag tubes, which takes capacity to 7+1+1. For long-term storage, such as a cache gun, I could see leaving your shotgun unloaded and uncocked. Otherwise don't worry about it. One man's opinion.

    I Like This One

That's a good one. I keep telling people that if you're going to ban guns because they kill people then you should also ban forks because they make people fat.
  21. You want the regular M4 stock? I'm happy to sell you mine but you may be better off buying the Mesa Tactical Urbino if you want a fixed stock. The length of pull is an inch shorter (or maybe 1.5 inches, I can't remember) and a better fit for most people. It also shortens the gun overall, makes it a bit more handy.
  22. This is good news. I will get in touch with them and let you guys know what I find out.
