  1. Soooooo Jelly. Can't wait to see the complete M4.
  2. Dan - do you have a Calliper or Micrometer? If so, I want to ask you a favor - if you can't no biggie. Or you can just tell me to stuff it! No offense will be taken. If you have one and are willing - I am looking for absolute Outside Diameter from three dimensions on your L4. Head Bezel, Main Body, Tailcap. Each at their widest points.
  3. Gotcha. The L4 is very E series like. Did you guy it specifically for your M4?
  4. Hi Dan - May I ask what you would mount to the rail at the 6'oclock?
  5. Any idea what a forcing cone and back bore job runs?
  6. Hey Paladinjme - is that your GB auction?
  7. You get this stuff back yet? Dying to see some pictures.
  8. Jaeger- That's awesome, thank you for taking the time to do that. Will be very helpful data. I am anticipating the largest variances to be in the dimension from the bottom of the hanger to the top of the barrel since it is is not watch-work critical for the firearm. I believe there is likely a bonding process to mate that hanger to the barrel at that position which would introduce some dynamics into this dimension.
  9. You'll be okay for the most part, the issue is the same as limp wristing a pistol though. Put enough jelly behind the shoulder stock and not enough actual shoulder, and you can start to effect the intending cycling design of a rifle or shotgun the same as you can a pistol. If your M4 fires from the hip with the rounds you wish to use, you can likely use all the limbsavers you want.

    M4 pistol grip

See this post here for an example: http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php/32040-my-DIY-shortned-LOP-and-kick-eez-recoil-pad?p=177994#post177994 Shows the hard plastic core and the rubber overmold. You can look on numrich too, they have the diagram that shows the parts separately.
  11. You'll be the first to know, once it's ready to move to next steps.
  12. Thanks SD. Hanger OD, Barrel OD, Total Height from bottom to top. All dimensions taken from inside the red box. There are some variances even inside the red box depending on where they are taken, that's okay. I have to account for all and give it one single accommodating dimension. If you're up to it, do one set as far back as you can and as far forward as you can on the hanger within the space between. I have a proto that will be here tomorrow to fit it to my single M4 sample. If I have it right, hopefully that extends to accommodate all M4s.
  13. If you have a pair of callipers, would absolutely appreciate a few measurements. If not I appreciate the offer, still. At the rear hanger, the width/Outside Diameter of the rear hanger's main section. The Outside Diameter of the barrel at that same location. The total height from the bottom of the hanger to the top of the barrel. If you have calipers, advise and I will post a picture with arrows pointing to the precise locations to which I refer.

    M4 pistol grip

Numrich has the PGs that go with the collapsible stock. Note the PG has a hard plastic inner core and and a soft rubber rap that is removable. There is at least one aftermarket collapsible stock/PG pair from one company - SD deemed it the 'Grip or Stock of Shame'... Given how they are made, not much reprofiling can be done without molding your own rubber overmold. SD modded his for QD cups and a light activation wire. I modded my PG for a flush mount QD.

Are you referring to the pistol grip that is paired with the collapsible shoulder stock or are you referring to the single unit fixed shoulder stock with PG?
  16. SD's correct that 922 applies, but that the illegal act is the construction of - not the possession. I guess it could be seized as evidence of a crime, but I doubt there is a single example of that IRL and such an action could be challenged as it's not illegal to possess.
  17. Nice. Awesome info SD. I think at most, it sounds like, I have two barrel assembly generations I need to deal with (presuming the 4 porter is more or less the same on outside dimensions as one of the others). I bet even the ringed and non-ringed will be the same, more than likely I will simply need to account for variances in dimensions overall. Anyone have a older non-ridged barrel?
  18. Can't wait to see the M4 once it's done, should be f'in sweet. Going to be so nice, I probably wouldn't want to shoot the damn thing. Given everything I have been putting my m4 through though, I am probably going to have to have it coated before long too though.
  19. I know there is the M1014 and the M11707. I had a American Flag build once as well. At one point I believe Benelli added a ridge to the barrel assembly so one could easily ascertain if the barrel was fully seated or not, etc. Any gurus have an idea of how many barrel assembly builds exist out there? I have a prototype I need to make sure it fits critical dimensions on the barrel assemblies of the various M4s that are out and about. I now have a late model build M4 with the ridge on the assembly so I will obviously fit it to that first.
  20. SD - Is that where you sent your stuff for burnt bronze? Do they do straight up anodizing? Can you post their website or contact info or PM me? I have some raw aluminium small parts coming before long I will need to have coated. We'll have to chat about that soon, btw.
  21. What flashlight do you run? If there was a mount that had everything for the M4, would you consider running different light that was compatible with the mount? Popular flashlight mount options include 6P or 1 inch and .830 which is E series diameter. E series diameter is my personal preference, but I really prefer single 123 lights with bodies that retain the .830 diameter end to end. True E series profiles present problems with the flared tail caps with the mount I have modeled as they interfere with features on the rear hanger. There is not a good way to solve this without pushing the light further from the firearm to accommodate the geometry. They would work fine with non-flared tail caps or the remote switch tailcaps surefire has. True Scout Series is another issue entirely.
