  1. Hmm...so if these guys are really going for $300+ anyone want to go in on a bar of S7, get it heat treated by Peters, and find a shop that will do multipass EDM work?
  2. +2 to charisma
  3. I just think it's the newer M3s Here's a link to a pic I'm "borrowing" from an older auction posting https://www.gunsamerica.com/userimages/5511/989133547/wm_8591652.jpg I've thrown on a GG&G bolt release, A&S trigger guard, and a TT lifter to mine... along with other things. It doesn't have the cut out in the bolt for the m2 charging handles. I guess that saves some machining time. I did have to shave off a bit off the rear of the forend so it wouldn't hit the bolt release and some work on the A&S trigger guard to fit the pistol grip / adjustable stock. The older M3s definitely had the M1 receiver
  4. haha indeed. You're right, it was an m1... but the one I have uses an m2 receiver, an m4 charging handle and trigger guard pin, and a supernova adjustable stock, and an m2 pic rail. It's like an engineer was challenged to do something will all the spare parts lying about and they ran out of m1 things.
  5. I couldn't help myself... I've always been intrigued by the semi to pump convertible aspect. I know I know... it's an m2 with an extra pound of stuff to let me make the cool "shuck-shuck" sound.
  6. Good to hear it's better than it looks. I'm hoping they make a V.2 with some forum feedback
  7. Is that the pack from FFT or somewher else? Still digging the color you finished yours in!
  8. Oh! I was always under the impression that it had an integral mod choke...you must have thought I had lead in my water
  9. Ok. I'm a bit confused. I thought the barrel proof mark of 18.3mm (~.720") would be the bore diameter for most of the barrel. Then the 0.7145" ID at the crown would the integral constriction built into it serving as the choke. Or maybe I just need to read up on general shotgun barrel construction... But thank you for the info, this is something I never looked into before.
  10. Ah ok... so my barrel is stamped 18 3 which should mean the nominal ID is 18.3mm or ~ .7205" so the constriction is 0.006". But for shooting slugs isn't the overall ID at the crown of the barrel more important?
  11. Just measured my factory 14" barrel. It has a internal barrel diameter of 0.7145" at the crown...which essentially makes it a "light modified" or "skeet 2". Anyone else have measurements?
  12. I'm not sure... but I see most rifled slug makers (at least for foster-type and brenneke) recommend an improved cylinder but say their ammo can be used with any choke. Searches from forums have all sorts of anecdotal recommendations. Here's a vid with an attempt to look at slugs with various choke tubes. Sample sizes are small... but essentially no real difference from full cylinder to full choke for some foster slugs...YMMV Edit: I have the 14" barrel with integral modified choke and have had no discernible problems with foster-type and brenneke slugs. I do steer clear of the more exotic slugs like this steel dumbbell (https://detroitammoco.com/product/505gr-ballistic-machinist-dumbbell-slug/)
  13. Good to hear. I hope you can provide some long term feed back after some 3 gun runs!
  14. Yeah it is... I really don't like the looks of the curved stock with the straight lines of the m4 receiver. But it does let you select from 5 positions for a better fit.

  16. Ok, just sounded like it was your first one due to the unfamiliarity with choke tubes. Just make sure to clean out any oil or CLP from the barrel and choke threads and apply anti-seize or choke grease and that should significantly help. I had problems with mine coming loose at first on my 18.5" barrel. Just FYI I won't shoot some of the more exotic steel slugs though my integral choked barrel as it's a modified type choke. At least with the removable choke barrels you can get a cylinder sized choke and shoot things like ballistic machinist's dumbbell slugs... if you're into such things. And on the other side of things you're more likely to get better patterns at longer ranges out of your modified choke compared to the non-choked (cylinder) mossberg barrels. Like I said...it's a trade off either way.
  17. Any shotgun with removable chokes can have this issue. Is this you and your dad's first shotgun?
  18. The only difference that I know about is that the milspec doesn't have a removable choke. It's made with an integral modified choke in the barrel's design. There are pluses and minuses to each approach. For example I'd have to get my 14" barrel threaded for a choke if I wanted to use a Salvo 12 suppressor on it. I've read about some posts on other shotgun forums about loctite. I personally wouldn't do it...but if I HAD to I'd use the purple loctite (LOW STRENGTH) and put on a small amount. Just keep in mind you're using an adhesive to put in a relatively thin walled tube that has a small interface for removal into a several hundred dollar barrel. Maybe check with a local gunsmith to see how much they charge for a stuck choke removal first as well... Vibra-tite VC-3 might be a better option to consider.
  19. Yes, that's the choke tube. This wrench is recommended due to the increased leverage (https://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/shotgun-tools/choke-tube-wrenches/choke-tube-speed-wrench-prod1827.aspx) If you don't want to buy anything you can also clean out the threads on the choke and in the barrel and use some choke grease and then tighten down with the supplied choke wrench. And just make it a habit to tighten it before use and after cleaning. Or get a mil-spec barrel that doesn't use a removable choke. Hope this helps
  20. If you guys could make this forend (https://www.manfred-alberts.de/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Benelli-M4.pdf) But instead of the screwed in picatinny rails along the sides there were m-lok slots I would be so happy. No sets screws, splits in half during disassembly (see page 4 of the linked pdf) just like the current poly hand guards... I would be so happy. Bonus points if you can keep an m-lok near the ejection port so I could mount a shotshell holder (like the matchsaverz)
  21. Hmm.. well if the 14" can take 5 in the tube. The loss of 4 inches should be equivalent to ~1.5 shells. That's how I got to 3 in the tube. But maybe I'm overlooking something?
  22. Oh, ok... I just misunderstood what you meant by "it" in your earlier post. Yeah hopefully Benelli can work through the requirements they need to quickly.
  23. Will a 10" barrel and mag tube be a 3 + 1 ?
