  1. I use the 5.5mm craftsman ignition wrench too. Not to side track too far...but how do people align the front site when they re-tighten. I use a q-tip cut in half and wedge a piece on both sides of the sight to keep it straight. Then cross my fingers when I tighten that the front stays centered on the post so I don't have to realign too much at the range. I'd love to hear any other/better suggestions!
  2. Oh, I didn't know they were still hard to find. I ordered one from here last week. Cheers http://www.midwayusa.com/product/843142/geissele-benelli-m4-super-90-hammer-steel-matte
  3. I would certainly be happy to pre-order at least two of the "Fury Clamps" ...and I would prefer them to have a smooth finish like the other clamps so I could just use shrink wrap/tubing. Many thanks for the testing and pics!
  4. Good point....did you go the Trust route for the NFA/ATF paperwork?
  5. Ah yes...the engraving. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I have no plans on ever selling my M4....but it would be nice to keep it as "stock" as possible. I like having it as an 18.5" shotgun for general shooting but in the thickets it just gets annoying. I suppose a bullpup remington 870 mod would be possible. But then I give up the semiauto....and I trust the semiauto function of my M4....decisions decisions.
  6. Sadly no...we're not tasked with enforcing laws so there are no peace officers. Thanks for the link...I saw that but I'll wait until a member on this forums has one or a much more reasonable price comes up. At $1300 I might as well just get an 18.5" barrel cut for me....sigh.
  7. So I've had my M4 for over a year and love it. But it can be a bit tricky to maneuver in thick willows in Alaska for bear defense. ###Digression - Yeah yeah I know all about medium/large bore rifles vs. heavy revolvers vs. shotguns but my department still recommends shotguns for bear persuasion/defense so I carry my M4 instead of a rem 870. We've found that proper camping and hiking techniques generally prevent MOST (but not all) bear issues.### Now that's out of the way I'm just seeking some thoughts getting a barrel for my M4 or purchasing a new entry M4 (if I can find one) Thanks for any help!
  8. Truckcop is right...but I wonder about perceived/distributed recoil. My M4 has a pretty stiff recoil pad and I have no idea what the SLP uses. If it has a relatively soft pad it may seem like less recoil but the amount of energy given off from a shot should be pretty damn close to the same given similar efficiency of the recoil systems.
  9. I had a front site alignment issue with my m4 as it was about 2-5 degrees counter clockwise of top dead center. The service was quite fast not including shipping time they had the gun for approximately 72 hours (including a weekend). So 1 working day to examine the gun, test out a new barrel, and pack it up to ship it back to me. I guess it will just depend on what needs to be worked on.

    M4 light mount

In this instance yes. But I have mine set up with both "bands" holding onto the tailcap of my surefire fury. That way I can change the batteries easily by just rotating the body out of the tailcap. Cheers

    M4 light mount

Would a spacer work instead of redesigning your mount. Just use longer screws with say a 0.5" thick piece of aluminum that conforms to your current design? Hopefully that would save on having a lot of different mount designs and make it easier for end users to adjust to new light bezel diameters as needed....well until different end cap sizes are used. Just a thought... Disclaimer - I already own two of the wonderful AVA light mounts!
  12. "refinishing the weapon with NP3 no longer holds water" somebody is getting punny
  13. That's fantastic news! I've been wanting one of their replacement rails...
  14. It's the P2X (the two battery 500 lumen version). The pics don't really do it justice (from a cell phone) Also wanted to mention that I just had the tail cap under the clap so you could change out batteries without unscrewing the mount.
  15. Just received my light and light mount (let my brother borrow my flashlight so who knows when I'll see it next). I am extremely impressed by AVA tactical's light mount. As you can see in the photos the 1.37" bezel is quite close to the barrel. I can slide a piece of paper folded twice in between the barrel and light. I have not fired it with the light attached so I'm not sure if the light and barrel would ever actually hit but it certainly fits. If they do touch under fire I'm sure a small shim piece would be all that's needed to bump it out from the barrel to provide more clearance. Anyway just got home and I need to play around with it some more. This mount is so worth it!
  16. I did some quick pulses with a bernzomatic propane blow torch down the stock mag tube from the loading port (after removing the sping and follower). Came out nice and easy with no damage to anything.
  17. What about using graphite powder as a dry lubricant for the tube? Edit nevermind - Just learned about aluminum corrosion with graphite. How about Molybdenum disulfide powder?
  18. I love my GG&G bolt release button. I did have to file the nubs at the point of attachment for alignment and so it would fully seat. I think it would be hard pressed to rotate now without actually stripping the metal.
  19. I'd like to know what limbsaver pad model you went with... other than that tough choices....and very personal so they are hard to comment on. I know that I've seen plenty of m2's with extended magazines with barrel clamps. Just have to decide on how important that quick change is for you.
  20. You could probably get an "normal" anodized/phosphated one and have it camo dipped....that is if you wanted one. But yeah my local dealer said he wasn't going to be getting any more of those last time I asked.
  21. I'm the buyer. Stock is fantastic! OP is a fantastic seller, even shipped the next morning! Cheers
  22. Yeah that's the gobbler guns link I posted. I suppose I should clarify that by "I have no idea about price" meant I'm not sure how it compares to other dippers/painters. Cheers
